The Industrial Age (1870 - 1900)

In the years following Reconstruction, the United States underwent rapid economic transformation, and saw the growth of industry, business, and agriculture, alongside technological innovation, increased immigration, urbanization, and the rise of labor unions. These developments had ecological and social consequences, which sparked reform movements, and also led Americans to take up the question of national identity as increasing numbers of settlers moved Westward and cultural diversity increased.
