What is MrOwl?

Welcome to MrOwl! A way to create a personalized Internet experience based on the topics that inspire you every day.

How does MrOwl work?

MrOwl is a surprisingly easy and fun way to organize, search, and share information. You can easily build and customize topic “branches” about the things that are important to you!

  • Add in subtopics, links, photos, videos, and more.
  • Control the experience that you want, your way.
  • Share your “branches” via social media with friends and family.
  • It truly couldn’t be any simpler.

Plus, you can search for “branches” on topics you love and grab them to save them for later. The best part is that once you’ve grabbed a “branch” it will be in your “grabbed branches” so you will always have it and be able to see updates.

If you search within your branch it becomes a mini customized search engine of your content, which will make it even easier for you to find what you are looking for later on. How great is that?!

MrOwl gets “wiser” as more people use it. The topic “branches” that you create help to shape our master topic “tree” and the links on MrOwl are curated by real people in the MrOwl community – not a computer.

Start today! Share your world. Share you.

2. Another option after your “branch” has been created, is to click on the LOCK icon to make your “branch” either public or private.

How do I search for topics, hashtags, and branches?

There are three ways that you can search on MrOwl for what you are looking for, and they include: search by topic, search by “branch”, and search all.

When you are ready to search for something, go into the SEARCH box, and type in the topic, hashtag, or “branch” name that you are looking for. You will then get a pop up with all three of your search choices listed. Choose the one you want and click on the MAGNIFYING GLASS icon to pull up your search results.

It’s important to note that for certain searches you may see the box for one or more of the search choices greyed out and available for the search. The reason why this happens is because the search query is based on “which section of MrOwl you are starting your search from”, so it may not be a way to search based on where you are starting that search. An example of this is if you are in a subtopic and you click on the SEARCH bar to search for a “branch”.

Here is what you can expect from each of the three different search methods:

  • SEARCH TOPIC will search for the topic or keyword that you are looking for from inside of the subtopic that you originate the search from.
  •
  • SEARCH BRANCH will only search WITHIN a chosen “branch”, so the search results are only from WITHIN that “branch”, which makes it a more specific search. Think of the “branch” search as a mini customized search engine of the content on that particular “branch”.
  •
  • SEARCH ALL will search all of the public “branches” within the MrOwl community and will return a more generic search result than the other options. An example of this is if you were doing a search looking for “bears”, but you really meant “bears” as in the “animal bears”. If you were SEARCHING ALL, then you would get everything named “bears” which would bring up search results including things like the “Chicago Bears” football team.

It’s important for you to know that the search results on MrOwl that are different than a traditional search:

  • MrOwl search results are sortable by title, user name, number of grabs, hearts, or likes.
  •
  • When you search within a “branch”, it becomes like a mini customized search engine of the content on that particular “branch”. And the more information that is added into your “branch”, the more powerful the search experience becomes. Which makes it even easier for other people or yourself to find what they are looking for later on.

Remember that MrOwl is community curated and built and that it gets “wiser” as more people use it. So it becomes a more powerful search tool over time as people add information into MrOwl. The topic “branches” that you create help to shape our master topic “tree” and the links on MrOwl are curated by real people in the MrOwl community – not a computer.
