The Texas A&M Aggies softball team represents Texas A&M University in NCAA Division I college softball. The team belongs to the SEC Conference and plays home games at the Aggie Softball Complex. The Aggies are currently led by head coach Jo Evans who is in her 13th season as head coach. The Aggies have won two NCAA championships in 1983 and 1987 along with an AIAW national championship in 1982. The Aggies have been NCAA runner-ups three times in 1984, 1986, and 2008. Reaching the Women's College World Series seven times the Aggies have managed to reach the finals five times in 1983, 1984, 1986, 1987, and 2008.

University of South Carolina, Columbia
The South Carolina Gamecocks softball team represents the University of South Carolina in NCAA Division I college softball. The team joined the Southeastern Conference in 1997 when the conference began to sponsor the sport. Prior to 1997, the team competed as an independent. Home games are played at Beckham Field, which sits adjacent to Sarge Frye Field. The softball team has won three SEC titles and participated in three Women's College World Series. At the end of the 2014 regular season, their all-time record is 1334-709-6 (.569).

The Tennessee Volunteers softball team represents the University of Tennessee (UT) in Knoxville, Tennessee in NCAA Division I women's softball competition. Coached by husband and wife Ralph and Karen Weekly, the team has become a consistently top tier team in the Southeastern Conference (SEC). Along with all other UT women's sports teams, it used the nickname "Lady Volunteers" (or the short form "Lady Vols") until the 2015-16 school year, when the school dropped the "Lady" prefix from the nicknames of all women's teams except in basketball.
