Zone was an all-female pop rock band started in Sapporo, Japan in 1999. Although it initially started as a dance group, they turned to an all-female band. Zone has been categorized in a new genre called "bandol" (a portmanteau of the words band and idol). The band was started and managed by Studio RunTime and released their first single, "Good Days", under the major record label Sony Records, on February 7, 2001. The group has officially ended on March 2, 2013.

Miyu Nagase (長瀬 実夕, Nagase Miyu?, born May 20, 1988, in Hokkaido) is a Japanese singer, guitarist and a former member of all-girl pop band Zone, which disbanded in 2005.

Zelda (ゼルダ), stylized as ZELDA, was a Japanese rock band active in the 1980s and 1990s. They played a pioneering role as one of Japan's first all-girl bands.

Barbara Ess (born 1948) is an American photographer who often uses a pinhole camera. She is also known for her No Wave musical and editorial work.

Y Pants were an all-female No Wave band from New York City active from 1979 to 1982. The trio, made up of photographer/musician Barbara Ess, visual artist Virginia Piersol, and filmmaker Gail Vachon, developed a unique sound via their acoustic toy instrumentation of toy piano, ukulele and a paper-headed Mickey Mouse drum kit, augmented by electric bass guitar, Casio keyboards and various low-tech effects.

Wishing Chair is an award-winning American folk-roots duo, consisting of songwriter Kiya Heartwood and multi-instrumentalist Miriam Davidson. The band formed in 1995 and has since then released eight recordings on their own independent label, Terrakin Records. They are best known for their creative musical arrangements, dynamic stage presence, and Heartwood's thoughtful lyrics.

Wild Rose was an American country music band founded in 1988 by five women: Pamela Gadd (lead and background vocals, banjo), Kathy Mac (bass guitar, vocals), Pam Perry (lead and harmony vocals, guitar, mandolin), Nancy Given (drums, vocals), and Wanda Vick (guitar, mandolin, fiddle, Dobro, steel guitar). Between 1988 and 1991, they recorded three studio albums, including two on Liberty Records. In that same time span, they charted three singles on the Billboard Hot Country Singles & Tracks (now Hot Country Songs) charts. Since their disbanding in 1991, Wanda Vick has worked as a session musician. Gadd has continued to write and perform in the music industry, and was featured as part of country music legend Porter Wagoner's band until his death in 2007. Gadd and Wagoner recorded an album of duets together.

Wild Flag were an American four-piece indie rock/post-punk supergroup based in Portland, Oregon and Washington, D.C.. The group consisted of Carrie Brownstein (vocals, guitar), Mary Timony (vocals, guitar), Rebecca Cole (keyboards, backing vocals) and Janet Weiss (drums, backing vocals), who are ex-members of the groups Sleater-Kinney, Helium and The Minders.

Whiteberry (ホワイトベリー?) were a five-piece all-girl pop/rock band from Kitami, Hokkaido, Japan. Although not reaching more than cult status outside of their native country (many American fans consider them to be a cross between punk pioneers The Ramones and R&B superstars TLC), the group gained a loyal following with their recordings and live performances.

We've Got a Fuzzbox and We're Gonna Use It!! or simply Fuzzbox are an English alternative rock group. Formed in Birmingham in 1985, the all-female quartet originally consisted of Vix, Magz, Jo Dunne and Tina O'Neill.

Warpaint is an American indie rock band from Los Angeles, California, formed in 2004. The current lineup comprises Emily Kokal (vocals, guitar), Theresa Wayman (vocals, guitar), Jenny Lee Lindberg (bass, backing vocals), and Stella Mozgawa (drums), who joined the band in 2009.

Vulpes was the first Spanish all-female punk rock which was formed in Barakaldo (Greater Bilbao, Basque Country, Spain) in the summer of 1982. They became famous when in 1983 they appeared in a TV program, called Caja de Ritmos, performing the song «Me gusta ser una zorra» (I like being a slut). The song is a cover of The Stooges song I Wanna Be Your Dog with adapted Spanish lyrics. Many viewers complained about their performance.

The Voodoo Queens were a North London-based indie punk/riot grrrl band, who reached number one in the Indie Charts in 1993.

Vixen are an all-female American rock band. They achieved commercial success during the late 1980s and early 1990s as part of the Los Angeles, California glam metal scene.

Vivian Girls were an American band from Brooklyn, New York.

Nu Virgos (Ukrainian: ВІА Гра) was the name used to promote the musical group VIA Gra (ВИА Гра) outside of Ukraine and other nearby countries. The name VIA Gra is both a reference to the drug Viagra and a play on words, since the first three letters stand for "vocal-instrumental ensemble" in Ukrainian, and "hra" means "game" in Ukrainian. Nu Virgos was a Ukrainian girl group that hit the charts in these countries in September 2000 with their first single "Popytka No. 5". Their first success outside the Russian language area was in May 2004 with the single "Stop! Stop! Stop!", an English version of their 2002 Russian song. The group is known for their frequent lineup changes, with 13 different individuals having at one time been in the group. The group was co-created by Dmitriy Kostyuk and Konstantin Meladze. Kostyuk is the manager of the group and the co-producer of the group's albums. Meladze is the writer of the group's songs and the co-producer of the group's albums.

Triinu Kivilaan (born January 13, 1989 in Viljandi, Estonia) is an Estonian vocalist and former model, best known as a former member of the popular girl group Vanilla Ninja. She had been modelling for several years when she replaced Maarja Kivi on bass in the group in 2004, having met the other members of the group a year earlier. A key factor, allegedly, in her being selected to join the group was the similarities between her and Kivi's appearance. Kivilaan was (by several years) the youngest member of the group, and continued with her education despite Vanilla Ninja's busy schedule.

Marya Roxx (born Maarja Kivi on 18 January 1986) is an Estonian hard rock/metal singer-songwriter residing in Los Angeles. She is a former member of Estonian girl band Vanilla Ninja.

Katrin Siska (born December 10, 1983) is an Estonian musician and member of the Estonian pop-rock band Vanilla Ninja.

Lenna Kuurmaa (born 26 September 1985 in Tallinn, Estonia) is an Estonian singer-songwriter and actress. She is a member of the girl group Vanilla Ninja, but after the band's hiatus since 2009, continued to work as a solo-artist. She also formed a band with the name "Lenna" who released the debut album Lenna in June 2010.

Vanilla Ninja was a three person Estonian girl band which has enjoyed chart success in a number of countries across Europe, especially in Estonia, Germany and Austria.

Patricia Theresa Schemel (born April 24, 1967) is an American drummer and musician who rose to prominence as the drummer of alternative rock band Hole from 1992 until 1998. In 1998, Schemel left Hole, and in the early 2000s reunited with Hole frontwoman Courtney Love during her solo career, and later drummed for Juliette and the Licks. As of 2010, Schemel continues to play music and gives drum lessons, in addition to owning a dog daycare/boarding business. In 2013, Schemel joined the indie rock group Upset, formed by Ali Koehler, previously of Vivian Girls and Best Coast. She also formed rock and roll band with her brother, Larry Schemel, called Death Valley Girls.

Upset are an American band formed in 2013. The band originally consisted of Ali Koehler on guitar and lead vocals, Jenn Prince on lead guitar and vocals, and Patty Schemel on drums. After the recording and release of their debut album She's Gone, Prince departed the band to work on other projects, with Lauren Freeman joining the band on lead guitar and Rachel Gagliardi on bass and vocals. Koehler is the former drummer of the bands Best Coast and Vivian Girls. Schemel rose to prominence as the drummer of Hole and currently also drums for the band Death Valley Girls. The band released their debut album on Don Giovanni Records on October 29, 2013.

Sandra Nurmsalu (born 6 December 1988) is an Estonian singer, violinist and lead singer of the band Urban Symphony. Urban Symphony represented Estonia in the Eurovision Song Contest 2009 on 16 May. Nurmsalu sang the lead for the Eurovision entry song "Rändajad". The song qualified from the second semi-final from 3rd place and finished 6th in the grand final.

Uncle Earl is an American old-time music group, formed in 2000 by KC Groves and Jo Serrapere. Currently the lineup consists of five women, all of whom share vocal duties: KC Groves, Kristin Andreassen, Stephanie Coleman, Paula Bradley, and Rachel Eddy. They have released three albums and two EPs, and their fifth album Waterloo, Tennessee was produced by John Paul Jones of Led Zeppelin. The group tours regularly, while many of the members also have separate solo careers.

Uh Huh Her is an indie/rock/electropop band that was formed in January 2007. The band's name came from an album by artist PJ Harvey, titled Uh Huh Her. The band has mentioned several times changing their name to UHH (pronunciation "U-H-H"), as opposed to the full "Uh Huh Her". They believe the original name looks good in written form, but is awkward to pronounce. It is unclear at this time if the name change will be made official at any point.

Ut originated from New York City's downtown no wave scene, forming in December 1978. The inheritors of the fertile collision between rock, free jazz, and the avant-garde that first manifested itself in the Velvet Underground, Ut soon became a serious force within the New York music scene.

Two Nice Girls were a self-styled "dyke rock" band from Austin, Texas, featuring singer-songwriter Gretchen Phillips.

12 Girls Band (simplified Chinese: 女子十二乐坊; traditional Chinese: 女子十二樂坊; pinyin: Nǚzǐ shí'èr Yùefǎng, sometimes abbreviated to 女樂 or 女乐) are an all female Chinese musical group that initially consisted of twelve members before the addition of a thirteenth. Twelve Girls Band use traditional Chinese instruments to play both traditional Chinese and Western music. Formed on June 18, 2001, the women were selected by audition from more than 4,000 contestants. Each woman is classically trained, and the band members come from various conservatories in the People's Republic of China (PRC), including the China Academy of Music, the Chinese National Orchestra, and the Central Conservatory of Music.

Lynn Breedlove (also known as Lynnee Breedlove) (born in Oakland, California) is an American musician, writer, and performer.

Tribe 8 was an outspoken dyke punk band from San Francisco. Considered one of the first queercore groups, they take their name from the practice of tribadism, a "tribe eight" being a play on the word tribade, a word which was once used to refer to lesbianism.

Anastasiya and Maria Andreyevna Tolmachevy (Анастасия и Мария Андреевна Толмачёвы, born 14 January 1997) are twins, singers, actresses, and former child singers from the Russian city of Kursk. Aged nine, they won the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2006 in Bucharest, Romania, with their song Vesenniy Jazz (Literal: Spring Jazz, Cyrillic: Весенний Джаз). Eight years later, they were chosen to represent Russia at Eurovision 2014.

Tiktak was a Finnish music group consisting of six school girls from northern Helsinki, who met at a band school in Helsinki. Their debut album, Friends, included songs written by Maki Kolehmainen (of Aikakone) and was a huge hit in Finland, with unusually strong sales in the rest of Europe, especially Scandinavia. The band's music was a blend of rock and pop. Each of the girls played their own instruments with the exception of Petra who was the lead singer. The band gained great domestic popularity. The band decided to break up in 2007 with the last performance in December 2007.

Tijuana Sweetheart (formerly known as VAGIANT and VAGIANT Boston) was an American all-female punk rock band from Boston, Massachusetts. The band was initially formed in 2005 by four employees of the gaming company Harmonix after Helen McWilliams (stage name Hellion) sent around an email to the entire company. Since forming, the band has gone under several member changes leaving McWilliams and LoWreck as the only remaining original members. Most of their notoriety has come from the inclusion of "Fuck the Kells" (censored "FTK") in Guitar Hero II and "Seven" in Rock Band.

Thug Murder were an influential streetpunk all-female band from Japan. Though their songs were written and performed in English, their heavy Japanese accents made the lyrics largely unintelligible. The band was formed in November 1999 and split after two years, in October 2001. Thug Murder toured the USA and EU with the Dropkick Murphys in 2001. They're also known for playing with The Boils, The Casualties and The Unseen, among others. Their American debut was released on Dropkick Murphys's Flat Records.

Those Dancing Days were an indie pop band from Nacka, a suburb of Stockholm, Sweden. Most frequently compared to Northern Soul and 1960s era girl-groups, the band formed in 2005 while the members were all still in school. They are currently signed to Wichita Recordings. The band consists of five people from Stockholm. Their name derives from the Led Zeppelin song "Dancing Days" pitched by the band's bassist, Mimmi.

The Trashwomen was an all-female American garage punk and surf punk trio from the San Francisco Bay Area signed to Estrus Records.

The Third Sex was a popular American queercore band formed in 1993, in Portland, Oregon. The band featured Trish Walsh on guitar and vocals, Peyton Marshall on bass and vocals and, initially, a series of drummers. Although a smaller band, they helped propagate the queercore movement across the country. A part of the Riot Grrrl scene, The Third Sex were significant in feminism's third wave and both influenced, and were influenced by, DIY culture.

TEMA (Russian "ТЕМА") was created by Maugly Jr. (Russian Маугли Jr.), a former rapper turned music producer in May 2004. The two members were Sasha Anohina (Russian "Саша Анохина") and Nastia Kotova (Russian "Настя Котова.")

Grammy-nominated Canadian indie pop duo formed in 1995 in Calgary, Alberta, composed of identical twin sisters Tegan Rain Quin and Sara Keirsten Quin. Both musicians are songwriters and multi-instrumentalists.

Team Dresch is an American punk/riot grrrl band from Portland, Oregon, originally formed in Olympia, Washington, which was initially active from 1993 until 1998. The band made a significant impression on the DIY movement queercore, which gave voice through zines and music to the passions and concerns of those in both the LGBT community and the punk subculture. All bandmembers were open lesbians. Washington Post writer Chris Richards called their debut album, 1995's Personal Best, "a fiery, all-but-forgotten punk masterpiece." In the early 2000s, Team Dresch reunited, and they continue to perform.

Madigan Shive, or Bonfire Madigan Shive, is an American songwriter, performing artist, community organizer and musician based in the Mexico / US border region of California.

Jennifer "Jen" Wood (born c. 1976) is an American indie rock musician based in Seattle, Washington. A solo artist since 1996, she was previously a member of alternative rock band Tattle Tale.

Tattle Tale was an American musical group that existed between 1992 and 1995. Composed of Jen Wood and Madigan Shive, they were well known in the Riot Grrrl scene, playing what was later to be termed folk punk.

Robin Moulder (born April 2, 1966) is an American musician, best known as being one of the founders of the riot goth-girl group Jack Off Jill and her subsequent project, TCR. She is a bassist, pianist, and programmer.

TC Smith is an American singer best known for her work with TCR and her voiceover work with producer Joseph Bishara. Her voice talents have been featured in movie trailers for films such The Village, The Amityville Horror (2005), and Silent Hill. Her voice work also appears in the movie score for The Gravedancers, a 2005 horror film, along with Melora Creager of Rasputina.

t.A.T.u. (Russian: Тату, pronounced  ( listen)) was a Russian music duo that consisted of Julia Volkova and Lena Katina. The duo was managed by Russian television producer Ivan Shapovalov while in the group Neposedi. The duo were signed to their own production company, T.A. Music, following the split with Universal Music Russia, and their sub-labels Interscope Records and Neformat.

Tina Root (born Bettina Root), also now known as Tina Minero, is an American classically trained female vocalist and songwriter from Los Angeles, California, perhaps most famous for her work performing as the lead singer of Switchblade Symphony during the mid- to late 1990s. Her current work includes a solo performance and recording project, Tre Lux, and a partnership project, called Small Halo, with guitarist and fellow songwriter George Earth.

Switchblade Symphony was a San Francisco, United States–based band which was formed in 1989 by composer Susan Wallace and vocalist Tina Root. They released their first album in 1995 on the Cleopatra Records label. They also had two live guitarists, first Robin Jacobs (who later joined Razor Skyline) and then George Earth (most recently of Small Halo, also with Tina Root), and three live drummers, first Eric Gebow (now with Blue Man Group), Justin Clayton, and then Scott van Shoick.

Stonefield is an Australian rock band made up of four sisters: Amy, Hannah, Sarah, and Holly Findlay from Darraweit Guim, a small town in rural Victoria.

Hole was an American alternative rock band that formed in Los Angeles, California in 1989 by singer and guitarist Courtney Love and lead guitarist Eric Erlandson. The band had a revolving line-up of bassists and drummers, their most prolific being drummer Patty Schemel, and bassists Kristen Pfaff (d. 1994) and Melissa Auf der Maur. Over the duration of their career, Hole went on to become one of the most successful female-fronted rock bands of all time, with their studio albums selling over three million records in the United States alone.

Eva O is music artist most notable for her previous works in Christian Death and a band she formed with her then husband Rozz Williams called Shadow Project.[

The Super Heroines was a deathrock trio formed in Los Angeles, California during the early 1980s. However, unlike other early deathrock bands such as Christian Death and 45 Grave, Super Heroines did not carry on a traditional Goth sound, instead a more punk style metal inspired by The Runaways.

Supercute! was an American indie teen-pop band/project from New York City primarily led by its founder Rachel Trachtenburg along with co-founder Julia Cumming. The band had acquired notable press attention and toured several times in the U.S. and Europe with English singer-songwriter Kate Nash. The band is now defunct though its members have continued to perform in other projects. In a 2011 profile for Nylon Magazine, Cumming called Supercute!'s songs "ukelele rock operas".

Super Junky Monkey was an all female Japanese funk metal group.

The Sugababes are an English pop girl group, formed in 1998 with founding members Siobhán Donaghy, Mutya Buena and Keisha Buchanan. Their debut album, One Touch, was released in the UK through London Records on 27 November 2000. The album achieved moderate success, peaking at number 26 in April 2001 and eventually being certified Gold. In 2001, Donaghy departed the group amid rumours of a rift with Buchanan and the group were dropped by their record label. With the introduction of Heidi Range, the group began to experience a higher level of commercial success whilst keeping the critical acclaim they had achieved with their debut album. They released three studio albums before Buena announced her departure in December 2005, leading to Amelle Berrabah being brought in to replace her. Following the release of their first greatest hits album, the new line-up released two studio albums. In September 2009, after 11 years in the Sugababes, Buchanan, the final original member, was replaced by former UK Eurovision entry Jade Ewen. Range, Berrabah and Ewen released the group's seventh studio album, Sweet 7, in 2010, after which they signed to RCA Records, before announcing an indefinite hiatus in 2011. In 2013, Ewen confessed that the Sugababes had split two years earlier. The original line-up of the band reformed in 2011, under the new name Mutya Keisha Siobhan, and are reported to be releasing their debut album in 2015.

Rose McDowall (born 21 October 1959) is a Scottish musician. Along with Jill Bryson, in 1981 she formed the pop/new wave band Strawberry Switchblade.

Strawberry Switchblade were a Scottish female pop rock/new wave band formed in Glasgow in 1981 by Jill Bryson and Rose McDowall, best known for their song "Since Yesterday" from 1985, and their flamboyant clothing with bows and polka-dots.

Stereopony (ステレオポニー, Sutereoponī?), was a pop rock band that formed in Okinawa, Japan in 2007 and disbanded in 2012. The three-girl band consisted of Aimi Haraguni (lead vocals and guitar), Nohana Kitajima (bass guitar), and Shiho Yamanoha (drums). They were signed to the Sony Records music label. The band released 11 singles and three studio albums.

Stealing Sheep are a psychedelic pop band from Liverpool, England, who formed in 2010. The three members are Rebecca Hawley (vocals and keyboards), Emily Lansley (vocals and guitar) and Lucy Mercer (vocals and drums). The band met at Mello Mello Cafe after watching each other play in other bands.

The Staves are an English acoustic folk rock trio of sisters from Watford, Hertfordshire, England. The Allmusic journalist, James Christopher Monger, opined that "clear, confident, and classy, the Staves (along with their producers) know that their ability to harmonize (or just sing in perfect, familial unison) is their calling card, and the instrumentation is calibrated according to that knowledge, allowing their vocals to sit fairly high in the mix."

A grunge/alternative rock band, most notable for performing the theme to MTV's hit cartoon show Daria, “You're Standing on My Neck”.

Spitboy was an American anarcho-punk band founded in San Francisco, California in 1990. The all-female band aggressively criticized patriarchy and gender roles but did not associate with the contemporaneous riot grrrl movement. They released several records and toured extensively before disbanding in 1995. Members later played in the bands Instant Girl and Aus Rotten, while drummer Michelle Gonzales and vocalist Adrienne Droogas have been active as writers.

Spires That in the Sunset Rise is an American Psych folk band from Decatur, Illinois. The four original members of the band (Kathleen Baird, Georgia Vallas, Taralie Peterson, and Tracy Peterson) grew up together in Decatur, Illinois, eventually moving to Chicago, Illinois where they began to experiment with creating songs. Drawing from experimental and multi-cultural music, they created an individual sound which they debuted on their first self-titled album Spires That in the Sunset Rise. The first album was created without Taralie's sister Tracy Peterson, but she soon joined the group before the making of their second album 'Four Winds the Walker.' A year later they created their third album 'This Is Fire' which today is considered one of their most accessible albums thus far. Since the release of their first album, they have contributed a different slant to the New Folk movement by incorporating avant garde influences resulting in a completely unique sound. Their music has drawn comparisons to The Raincoats, Current 93, Comus, and The Ex, and they have toured throughout the United States, Canada, and Europe.

Speed (stylized as SPEED) is a Japanese female vocal/dance group comprising Hiroko Shimabukuro, Eriko Imai, Takako Uehara and Hitoe Arakaki. All four members are former students of Okinawa Actors School which also trained popular artists Namie Amuro and MAX.

The Spazzys are an all-girl pop punk trio formed in 2000 by twins Kat Spazzy (aka Katarina Ljubicic) on guitar and lead vocals, and Lucy Spazzy (aka Lucy Ljubicic) on bass guitar and vocals, with their school mate, Ally Spazzy (aka Alice McNamara) on drums and vocals. Their cover version of "My Boyfriend's Back" (February 2005) peaked at number 24 on the ARIA Singles Chart.

Juliana Hatfield (born July 27, 1967) is an American musician and singer-songwriter from the Boston area. She was formerly of the indie rock bands Blake Babies and Some Girls and now performs as a solo artist, and as one half of Minor Alps, alongside Matthew Caws of Nada Surf. They were previously known as "Julian Mama" and "Akasaka Komachi" (one album was released under this name). After 16 years, they reunited in November 2012 for several concerts in order to help with recovery from the 2011 Tōhoku earthquake and tsunami. The Micragirls were an all-female Finnish garage rock band. They were active from 2001 to 2010, gaining a cult following both in Finland and abroad. The band released two albums and several EPs and singles. The Micragirls did over 250 concerts, of which some 100 outside Finland. Jack Off Jill are an American Riot Goth, rock band from Ft. Honeyblood is a Scottish musical duo formed in Glasgow Scotland in 2012. The band is composed of Stina Marie Claire Tweeddale (vocals and guitar) and Cat Myers (vocals and drums).

The Holy Sisters of the Gaga Dada were an eclectic band originally from Santa Cruz, California, USA formed in 1981. They were voted "Best Alternative Rock Band of the Year" by L.A. Weekly. The collaboration of keyboardist Mary Jean Shaffer and guitarist Blancah Black, the Holy Sisters reveled in eccentric, quasi-religious imagery and feminist politics. Other original members included Heidi Puckett (bass) and Jeff Grubic (tenor sax). As the band morphed from conceptual entity to frequent club performers, Black left and two new members were added, Jill Fido (bass) and Charles Bingham (drums). Kim Sockit later replaced Puckett, and Zero Jessephski, Jr. replaced Bingham, making the Holy Sisters of the Gaga Dada an all-female band. The group would later move to Hollywood, California where they were featured in "Once Upon Her Time," a TV program about women in the '80s which aired on the Lifetime Cablevision Network.

Hepburn were a four-piece British all-girl pop rock band. The band released an album and three singles between 1999 and 2000, but were best known for their first single, "I Quit", which reached #8 on the UK charts, and was best known to American audiences when it appeared on the soundtrack to the TV series, Buffy the Vampire Slayer (although the track never actually appeared in an episode). Harry Crews was a short-lived No Wave-influenced hardcore punk and crossover thrash supergroup made up of Lydia Lunch (guitar), Kim Gordon (bass), and Sadie Mae (drums). The band was only musically active in 1988, therefore they only officially produced and released one album, Naked in Garden Hills. The album was released in 1989, and was a compilation of live recordings played at clubs in London, UK and Austria. Shortly after the release of the album, the band split up, due to their involvement in other bands and projects. The bands' name was taken after the author of the same name, hence the album's title being taken from a novel by Crews. The majority of the songs were also named after Crews' various novels. They also covered "She's In A Bad Mood" (originally by Gordon's band, Sonic Youth), and "Orphans" (originally by Lunch's band Teenage Jesus and the Jerks.)

Ginger A. Pooley (née Reyes; born April 22, 1977), also known by her stage name as Ginger Sling, is an American rock musician, best known as a former touring bassist and backing vocalist for the Chicago alternative rock band The Smashing Pumpkins. She is also a solo artist, and was a bassist of the California pop-punk band the Halo Friendlies.

The Halo Friendlies are an all girl pop-punk band from Long Beach, California. After snatching up a guitar in a thrift shop while on her first date with then-boyfriend now-husband Matt Wignall of Havalina/Matt Death and the New Intellectuals, Judita Wignall made the decision to start a band. Originally featuring Wignall on lead vocals and guitar, Cheryl Hecht on guitar, Natalie Bolanos on bass guitar, Tafida Allen on drums, and Deanna Moody on percussion on their 1998 self-titled debut, by 1999's Acid Wash, Hecht had dropped out of the project. She was then replaced by Ginger Reyes, who not only began sharing lead vocals with Wignall, but also took up bass guitar, allowing Bolanos to switch to lead guitar. In 2000 the Halo Friendlies replaced Moody with Christina Hock (Theobald). Theobald/Hock, however, was replaced shortly before the band's first sweep of the United Kingdom in 2003 by Claudia Rossi (ex- Jack Off Jill).

Amy Gore (b. December 18) is an American singer-songwriter, guitarist and founding member of the all-female band the Gore Gore Girls from Detroit, Michigan.

Gore Gore Girls are an all female garage rock band from Detroit, Michigan, formed in 1997 by singer/songwriter Amy Gore. The band's name comes from The Gore Gore Girls, a 1972 B-movie by Herschell Gordon Lewis, which is a parody of the term Go Go Girls.

Kaori Moriwaka (森若香織, Moriwaka Kaori, born December 11, 1963 in Sapporo, Hokkaido) is a singer-songwriter and actress. She was in the band The Go-Bang's and Ram Jam World; more recently, she portrayed Ikuko Tsukino in the live-action TV series Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon. She also wrote songs and played the guitar as a back musician for Japanese girl band Chee's.

The Go-Bang's were a three-piece Japanese girl band active in the late 1980s and early 1990s. They broke up in 1994, and since then, Kaori Moriwaka (singer/songwriter) has become a solo singer/songwriter/producer/actress, while Mitsuko Saito (drums) and Misa Tanishima (bass guitar) have dropped beneath the radar, though apparently Saito has been seen drumming for a few other bands, fashion-modeling and played a drummer as an extra in the music video of J-pop singer Namie Amuro's Please Smile Again.

They called themselves The Sandoval Sisters and The Moonmaids before ending up as The Girls in 1965, when they signed a recording contract with Capitol Records. The members were sisters. The group was formed of Rosemary (lead guitar), Diane (rhythm guitar), Sylvia (bass), and Margaret (drums and lead vocals) Sandoval. Free Kitten is a supergroup composed of Sonic Youth's Kim Gordon and Pussy Galore's Julie Cafritz. Erase Errata was a band from San Francisco, California. They often name experimentalists such as Captain Beefheart, The Fall, and the Minutemen as inspirations. The group favors improvisation as a compositional tool and each of their performances is a unique manifestation of established songs.

Emily's Sassy Lime (a palindrome) was an all-Asian American teenage riot grrrl trio from Southern California, formed in 1993 by Wendy and Amy Yao, and Emily Ryan. According to Experience Music Project, they formed after sneaking out of their homes one night to see a Bikini Kill and Bratmobile show, striking up a correspondence with Molly Neuman, the drummer of the latter band. They didn't live very close to each other and didn't have cars, so they often had to write their songs over the phone, sometimes leaving seminal ideas for tunes, jingles, and melodies on each other's answering machines. When they finally did have a chance to record, they did so on a singalodeon, a cheap off-the-shelf lo-fi tape recorder. They barely ever practiced (often forbidden from doing so by their parents who considered their studies a bigger priority), making their sound a random, spontaneous indie garage punk-noise collage of "Whatever, just play." They didn't have their own instruments for years, so with every show they played, they had to borrow someone else's in the DIY punk spirit of sharing, often swapping with each other carelessly and making every show sound totally different.

Electrelane were a British indie rock band, formed in Brighton in 1998 by Verity Susman and Emma Gaze. The band comprised Susman, Gaze, Mia Clarke, and Ros Murray. Their music drew from wide range of influences including Neu!, Stereolab, Sonic Youth, and The Velvet Underground. Although the band had strong feminist and political views in their personal lives, they generally preferred to not communicate that directly to their fans or through their music; one exception is their inclusion of the protest song "The Partisan," which they began playing while on tour in the United States during the months preceding the 2004 Presidential election. Dum Dum Girls is an American rock band, formed in 2008. It began as the bedroom recording project of singer and songwriter Dee Dee (née Kristin Welchez)). She is currently based in New York City. The name is a double homage to The Vaselines' album Dum Dum and the Iggy Pop song "Dum Dum Boys". Many people believe Dee Dee's stage name was inspired by Dee Dee Ramone but she has stated that this is not true; it was her mother's name, which she took as her middle name after her death. Dolly Mixture were a British post-punk/new wave band formed in 1978 by bassist and vocalist Debsey Wykes (b. 21 December 1960, Hammersmith, London, England), guitarist and vocalist Rachel Bor (b. 16 May 1963, Wales), and drummer Hester Smith (b. 28 October 1960, West Africa). They had a taste of Top 40 success performing backing vocals for the Captain Sensible's hit "Wot" and a UK No. 1 hit backing Sensible on his 1982 cover of "Happy Talk". Rachel Bor also featured on the Animus/Loose Records single "Wot NO Meat? also by Captain Sensible in 1985. Rachel and Debsey performed together on 24 April 2013 at the Islington Assembly Hall in London.

Emily Robison Strayer (born Emily Burns Erwin on August 16, 1972) is an American songwriter, singer, multi-instrumentalist, and a founding member of the female country band the Dixie Chicks. Victoria Christina Hesketh (born 4 May 1984), better known by her stage name Little Boots, is an English electropop singer-songwriter and DJ. She was previously a member of the band Dead Disco. Since performing as a solo artist she has released three albums, Hands (2009), Nocturnes (2013) and Working Girl (2015) and a number of associated EPs and remixes. Hesketh has toured internationally both as a DJ-only act as well as with a full band. Hands reached number five on the UK Albums Chart and the singles "New in Town" and "Remedy" became top twenty hits.

Cub was an indie rock band from Vancouver, British Columbia that formed in 1992 and disbanded in 1997. Coyote Sisters are an American pop-rock female trio formed in 1980. Its members are Leah Kunkel, the younger sister of Cass Elliot, Marty Gwinn Townsend, and Renee Armand. In 1984, they released their self-titled debut LP on Morocco records, a subsidiary of Motown. Lead single "Straight from the Heart (Into Your Life)" hit No. 66 on the US Billboard charts and was a hit on the Adult Contemporary radio stations. Subsequent singles and the album failed to chart.

Cobra (眼镜蛇乐队 Yanjingshe yuedui) is an all-female rock band from Beijing, China. The band formed in 1989, becoming the first all-female rock band in mainland China. With only one album out, they disbanded in the late 1990s. Their style was a gloomy type of blues rock with a slight touch of new wave dreamscape. Cobra was very popular in the beginning of their career.

Cimorelli /sɪməˈrɛli/ is a singing group popularized on YouTube and signed to Universal Music's Island label. Cimorelli is made up of six sisters, Christina, Katherine, Lisa, Amy, Lauren, and Dani. Their singing style is mostly using a cappella with occasional instruments. They started posting covers of songs on YouTube, before releasing original songs. Their second album, Get Over It, was released in July 2009 on S-Curve Records.

Cake Like was an all-women indie rock band based in New York City. Its members were bassist and lead singer Kerri Kenney, drummer Jody Seifert, and vocalist and guitarist Nina Hellman. The band came together in 1993 when Kenney and Hellman met at New York University's Experimental Theater Wing, decided to form a band, and were joined by Hellman's roommate Seifert. The members had never played music before and so developed their own unique style. Their songs often play out like poetry set to erratic guitar-rock. They soon attracted the attention of John Zorn, who signed the band to his Avant Records label, which released their first LP. Ric Ocasek, formerly of The Cars, produced their follow-up EP. Swedish four-piece Audrey formed in 2001 in Henån, Sweden. The band first formed in a run-down music house that was going to be demolished during their time there. According to the band there were mice running on the floor and the pipes were frozen. In this harsh environment they started playing together. After Rebecka Kristiansson and Victoria Skoglund graduated from high school they decided to move to Gothenburg. Anna and Emelie followed shortly and Gothenburg opened up some new opportunities for them, the city providing a larger scene and audience.

Adickdid was an all-female American indie punk band started in the early 1990s in Eugene, Oregon by Kaia Wilson (The Butchies, Team Dresch) Nalini Deedee Cheriel (Juned, The Teenangels, The Hindi Guns) and Sara Shelton Bellum (Bella Low). Their first single "All American Girl" b/w "Columbus" was put out by Imp Records in 1993. They toured along the American West Coast and played on the radio station KXLU in Los Angeles. One of their opening acts was Beck at the Jabberjaw in Los Angeles. They recorded the song "Hair" on the Stars Kill Rock compilation for Kill Rock Stars. They also recorded a song for Yoyo Records. Their full-length album "Dismantle" was put out on Imp and their own record label G Records in 1993. The band broke up in 1995.
