Yo-Kai Watch 2: Ganso (Japanese: 妖怪ウォッチ2 元祖, Hepburn: Yōkai Wotchi 2 Ganso?) and Yo-Kai Watch 2: Honke (妖怪ウォッチ2 本家, Yōkai Wotchi 2 Honke) are a pair of role-playing video games developed and published by Level-5 for the Nintendo 3DS. Released concurrently on July 10, 2014 in Japan, the games are a sequel to 2013's Yo-Kai Watch. Much like their predecessor, the games put players in an open world, befriending and battling various yōkai; ghosts and apparitions originating in Japanese folklore, that cause mischief in daily life. In Yo-Kai Watch 2, the memories of the protagonist Keita Amano (or Fumika "Fumi-chan" Kodama) are erased and the Yo-Kai Watch itself taken away, leaving him with no recollection of his past adventures. However, he soon stumbles across the butler Yo-Kai Whisper once again, and his adventures resume, with Whisper giving him a brand new model of the Yo-Kai Watch.

Yo-Kai Watch (Japanese: 妖怪ウォッチ, Hepburn: Yōkai Wotchi?) is a role-playing video game developed by Level-5 for the Nintendo 3DS and the first game in the Yo-Kai Watch franchise. Originally released in Japan on July 11, 2013, the game is based around the Yōkai of Japanese folklore, who are said to be ghosts and apparitions that cause mischief in daily life. In Yo-Kai Watch, player character Nathan "Nate" Adams or Katie Forester, depending on who the player chooses, is given the titular watch, which gives him or her the ability to see Yo-Kai, after stumbling across and befriending a butler Yo-Kai named Whisper. Players assume the role of Nate or Katie, as he or she travels around town searching for and befriending peaceful Yo-Kai, battling hostile Yo-Kai, and solving problems caused by mischievous Yo-Kai.

Yakuza : Dead Souls (龍が如く OF THE END, lit. "Like a Dragon of the End"?) is an action-adventure/survival horror video game, developed and published by Sega exclusively for the PlayStation 3. The game is the sixth installment in the Yakuza series. The game's concept and keyword is "destruction"; a promotional image for the game showed the series' main locale, Kamurocho, in ruins. Leaked scans of the Famitsu issue released on September 16, the first day of the 2010 Tokyo Game Show, revealed that the game would be set during a zombie outbreak in Kamurocho and reportedly after the events of Yakuza 4. The game was originally scheduled for release in Japan on March 17, 2011 two days after the release of Yakuza 4 in North America; however, after the 2011 Tōhoku earthquake and tsunami, the release was indefinitely delayed. A new release date, setting the game's release for June 9, was announced on April 7. The game was also released in North America and Europe by Sega in March 2012.

Yakuza 5 (龍が如く5 夢、叶えし者, "Ryu ga Gotoku 5: Yume Kanaeshi Mono"?, lit. "Like a Dragon 5: Fulfiller of Dreams"), is a 2012 open world action-adventure video game developed and published by Sega exclusively for the PlayStation 3. The game is the fifth main entry in the Yakuza series of action-adventure games. The game was released in December 2012 in Japan, and worldwide in December 2015. The game features a brand new graphics engine, unlike previous games in the series that have been re-utilizing the same engine since Yakuza 3. For the first time in the series, it features five settings across Japan along with five playable main characters.

Yakuza 4 (龍が如く4 伝説を継ぐもの, "Ryū ga Gotoku 4: Densetsu o Tsugumono"?, lit. "Like a Dragon 4: Successor of the Legend") is a video game developed and released by Sega for the PlayStation 3. The game was introduced on July 24, 2009. A promotional video was presented at the 2009 Tokyo Game Show, and a preview of the main plot was released on January 13, 2010. The sequel to Yakuza 3, it was released on March 18, 2010 in Japan after a playable demo was released on the Japanese PlayStation Store on March 5. Yakuza 4 was released in Europe and North America in March 2011.

Yakuza 3 is a PlayStation 3 video game, originally released in Japan as Like a Dragon 3 (龍が如く3, "Ryū ga Gotoku 3"?), the sequel to Yakuza 2 and the fourth installment in the Yakuza series. It is developed by Sega Japan's CS1 Team and published by Sega. It was released in Japan and South East Asia on February 26, 2009 and in North America and Europe on March 9, 2010 and March 12, 2010, respectively. The sequel, Yakuza 4, was released on March 18, 2010 in Japan.

Yakuza 2, originally released in Japan as Like a Dragon 2 (龍が如く2, Ryū ga Gotoku 2?), is the sequel to the action adventure game Yakuza by Sega. The title was released on December 7, 2006, for the PlayStation 2 in Japan and in September 2008 in North America and Europe. The game focuses on the former yakuza Kazuma Kiryu who receives a request for help from his former group, the Tojo Clan, to keep relationships with the eastern group, the Omi Family, stable. Across Kazuma's journey he learns of a Korean mafia group linked with the Omi Family and becomes the rival of the Omi's "Kansai Dragon", Ryuji Goda.

Yakuza, originally released in Japan as Like a Dragon (龍が如く, Ryū ga Gotoku?), is an action-adventure game developed and published by Sega for the PlayStation 2. Yakuza was released in Japan in 2005, and outside Japan the following year. The story follows a yakuza named Kazuma Kiryu, who, after spending ten years in jail for a crime he did not commit, learns that 10 billion yen has been stolen from the Tojo clan, which the criminal underworld is searching for. He finds an orphaned girl Haruka who is being targeted by the clan, as she is believed to have the key for their lost money, and he resolves to protect her. The game takes place in Kamurocho, which is a realistic recreation of Tokyo's Kabukicho.

Xenoblade Chronicles, known in Japan as Xenoblade (Japanese: ゼノブレイド, Hepburn: Zenobureido?), is a Japanese action role-playing game developed by Monolith Soft and published by Nintendo for the Wii home console. Initially released in Japan in 2010, it later released in Europe in 2011, and was eventually released in North America in 2012. A port to the New Nintendo 3DS was released worldwide in 2015. Xenoblade Chronicles forms part of the Xeno metaseries, although no direct narrative connections exist to previous Xeno games, and incorporates aesthetic and narrative elements from both fantasy and science fiction. The game features navigation through an open world, side-quests tied to party members' affinity, and a real-time action-based battle system which incorporates the main character's ability to see glimpses of the future.

Xenoblade Chronicles X, known in Japan as XenobladeX (Japanese: ゼノブレイドクロス, Hepburn: Zenobureido Kurosu?, pronounced as "Xenoblade Cross"), is an action role-playing video game developed by Monolith Soft and published by Nintendo for the Wii U home video game console. Part of the Xeno series of video games, it serves as a spiritual successor to Xenoblade Chronicles on the Wii. The game centers on the player's customizable avatar, who works to coexist with the indigenous creatures on a hostile alien planet while striving to protect humanity. Similar to its predecessor, the game features an open-world design that strongly emphasizes exploration. It was released in Japan on April 29, 2015, and worldwide in December 2015.

Wurm Online is a 3D massively multiplayer online role-playing game developed by Code Club AB (formerly known as Onetoofree AB) in Motala, Sweden. Development started in 2003 by friends Markus Persson and Rolf Jansson, and it was released for personal computers in 2006. Players can choose to play on servers that allow player versus player combat and realm versus realm combat or servers that are focused more on a virtual economy.

The Witness is an upcoming 3D puzzle video game created by Jonathan Blow, and in development by Thekla, Inc. The Witness is set for release on January 26, 2016 for PlayStation 4 and Microsoft Windows, and for iOS a later date.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt (Polish: Wiedźmin 3: Dziki Gon) is an award winning epic fantasy action role-playing video game set in an open world environment, developed by CD Projekt RED. Announced in February 2013, it was released worldwide for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on 19 May 2015. The game is the third in the series, preceded by The Witcher and The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings, which are based on the series of fantasy novels by author Andrzej Sapkowski.

Wild is an upcoming open world survival adventure game set in a pre-historic world. It is produced by Michel Ancel and is set to be released for the PlayStation 4.

White Gold: War in Paradise (Xenus II: Белое золото, Xenus II: White Gold) is the sequel to the 2005 video game Boiling Point: Road to Hell. White Gold was developed by the Kiev-based game studio Deep Shadows. The Microsoft Windows version was released in CIS territories by Russobit-M on October 24, 2008, with the Xbox 360 and other Windows regions seemingly cancelled. The game runs on the Vital Engine 3, which also powers The Precursors. In December 2010, an English version was made available via digital distribution on GamersGate. The game is also available for purchase via online retailer Beamdog.

Wheelman is an action-adventure video game developed by Tigon Studios for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and Microsoft Windows.

Way of the Samurai 4 (侍道4, Samurai Dou 4?) is a video game developed by Acquire and published by Spike for the PlayStation 3. It was first released in Japan on March 3, 2011. The game offers a mix of story, combat and event scenes.

Watch Dogs (stylized as WATCH_DOGS) is an open world action-adventure third-person shooter stealth video game developed by Ubisoft Montreal and published by Ubisoft. It was released worldwide on 27 May 2014 for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One, while a Wii U version was released on 18 November 2014 in North America, 21 November in Europe, and 4 December in Japan. Set within a fictionalized version of Chicago, Illinois, the single-player story follows a hacker and his efforts to seek revenge after the accidental death of his niece. The open world design lets players freely roam Chicago, which includes the urban city, open countryside, and the run-down neighborhoods that surround downtown.

Viking: Battle for Asgard is an action-adventure hack and slash video game developed by The Creative Assembly and published by Sega. It was announced on August 21, 2007 by Sega Europe and released in North America on March 25 and Europe on March 28, 2008. The game is based on Norse mythology, where the war between the gods has sparked further conflict in the mortal realm of Midgard, where Freya's champion Skarin must lead Viking forces against that of the Goddess Hel.

The Vanishing of Ethan Carter is a 2014 horror adventure video game created by independent Polish studio The Astronauts for Microsoft Windows and PlayStation 4.

Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines is a 2004 action role-playing video game developed by Troika Games and released by Activision for Microsoft Windows. Set in White Wolf Publishing's World of Darkness, the game is based on White Wolf's role-playing game Vampire: The Masquerade and follows either a male or female character who is killed and subsequently revived as a fledgling vampire. The game depicts the fledgling's journey through 21st-century Los Angeles to uncover the truth behind a recently discovered relic that heralds the end of all vampires.

Urban Chaos is the debut video game of English developer Mucky Foot Productions with its initial release in 1999 on Microsoft Windows. It was subsequently released on the PlayStation and Dreamcast. The game was published by Eidos Interactive.

UnReal World is a roguelike survival freeware (shareware before 2013) computer game set in Iron Age Finland. The first version of the game was released in 1992, but gets regular updates to this day. The latest update occurred in April 2015.

Underlight was a fantasy massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG). It was Lyra Studio's first product and launched on MPlayer.com in March 1998.

Ultimate Spider-Man is a video game based on the comic book of the same name by Brian Michael Bendis and Mark Bagley. The game was released on most sixth generation consoles, including Nintendo DS, GameCube, PlayStation 2, Xbox, Microsoft Windows and Game Boy Advance. Treyarch, who made the console games based on the Spider-Man movies, developed the console game, while Vicarious Visions developed the Nintendo DS and Game Boy Advance versions, and Beenox ported the Microsoft Windows version from the consoles.

Ultima IV: Quest of the Avatar, first released in 1985 for the Apple II, is the fourth in the series of Ultima role-playing video games. It is the first in the "Age of Enlightenment" trilogy, shifting the series from the hack and slash, dungeon crawl gameplay of its "Age of Darkness" predecessors towards an ethically-nuanced, story-driven approach. In 1996 Computer Gaming World named Ultima IV as #2 on its Best Games of All Time list on the PC. Designer Richard Garriott considers this game to be among his favorites from the Ultima series.

It was released on November 9, 2010 in Europe for Microsoft Windows/Mac OS X, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. The game was released on January 25, 2011 in North America for the same platforms.

True Crime: New York City is a 2005 open world action-adventure video game developed by Luxoflux for PlayStation 2, Xbox and GameCube, by Aspyr for Windows, and by Hands-On Mobile for mobile. It was published on all systems by Activision. The PlayStation 2, Xbox and GameCube versions were released in November 2005, the PC version in March 2006, and the mobile version in March 2007. It is the second entry in the True Crime franchise, after the 2003 True Crime: Streets of LA.

Triad Wars is an upcoming free-to-play open world online multiplayer video game developed by United Front Games in conjunction with Square Enix London Studios and published by Square Enix. It is a spin-off to the 2012 video game Sleeping Dogs and the second installment in the Sleeping Dogs series. The game will have more traditional multiplayer online game elements than Sleeping Dogs, with the central goal being to "rise to power as a criminal kingpin of the Triad underworld." It features the same map as the original Sleeping Dogs.

Transformers: The Game is the name of multiple versions of a video game based on the 2007 live action film Transformers, all of which were released in North America in June 2007. Home console and PC versions were developed by Traveller's Tales for the PlayStation 2, Xbox 360, Wii, PlayStation 3 and PC. A different PlayStation Portable version was developed by Savage Entertainment.

Total Overdose (or Total Overdose: A Gunslinger's Tale in Mexico as it is known in the US) is an open world action/adventure third-person shooter video game that was developed by Deadline Games and published by Sci Entertainment in Europe and by Eidos in North America. It contains a demo for Tomb Raider: Legend on the PlayStation 2 and Xbox versions. Chili Con Carnage, a PlayStation Portable game using some of the original characters but following a different plotline than Total Overdose, was released on February 13, 2007.

Total Miner is a 2011 Xbox Live Indie Game developed and published by Craig Martin, founder of Studio Forge Ltd (previously Greenstone Games). It is a block-building sandbox-style game similar to Minecraft and Miner Dig Deep. It has been confirmed the game will be released on both PlayStation 4 and PC via Steam

Torchlight II is an action role-playing game developed by Runic Games, released for Microsoft Windows on September 20, 2012. It is the sequel to Runic's 2009 ARPG, Torchlight, and features peer-to-peer multiplayer support and extended modding capabilities. The game was released for OS X on February 2, 2015, and for Linux on March 4, 2015.

Tom Clancy's The Division is an upcoming open world third-person shooter role-playing video game with survival elements developed by Ubisoft Annecy, Ubisoft Massive, Ubisoft Reflections, and Ubisoft Red Storm for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. It was announced during Ubisoft's E3 2013 press conference, together with a seven-minute gameplay demo and is set to release on March 8, 2016.

Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Wildlands is an upcoming open world tactical shooter video game in development by Ubisoft Paris and is set to be published by Ubisoft for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. It will be the tenth installment in the Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon franchise and will be the first Ghost Recon game to feature an open world environment. The game will drop the futuristic setting introduced in Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter and will feature a setting similar to the original Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon.

Todd's Adventures in Slime World is a side-scrolling platform game for the Atari Lynx, Sega Mega Drive/Genesis, and PC Engine CD video game systems.

Titan Souls is a 2015 action-adventure video game developed by UK-based indie studio Acid Nerve and published by Devolver Digital. It was released on April 14, 2015.

This Is Vegas is an unreleased video game that was in development at Surreal Software and was to be published by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment on Microsoft Windows, the PlayStation 3, and the Xbox 360. In 2010 development on the game was reportedly cancelled.

Test Drive Unlimited 2 is an open world racing video game developed by Eden Games and published by Atari. It is the tenth installment of the Test Drive series, and the second after Test Drive Unlimited to be marketed under the Unlimited franchise. It is the second game in the series to be based on open world-styled gameplay. It was the final game released by Eden Games before being shut down by Atari in 2013.

Test Drive Unlimited (TDU) is a 2006 open-world arcade-style racing game, featuring over 125 licensed sports cars and motorcycles. The terrain is modeled after the Hawaiian island of Oʻahu that features some 1,000 miles (1,600 km) of roads and highways. Test Drive Unlimited is the ninth main installment of Test Drive, one of the longest running racing game franchises. A sequel, titled Test Drive Unlimited 2, was released on February 8, 2011.

Terraria is an action-adventure sandbox video game developed by game studio Re-Logic. The game was initially released for Microsoft Windows on May 16, 2011. It was later released for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PlayStation Vita, iOS, and Android in 2013, for Windows Phone, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One in 2014, and for OS X, Linux, and Nintendo 3DS in 2015. A version for the Wii U is also in development.

Tales of Zestiria (Japanese: テイルズ オブ ゼスティリア, Hepburn: Teiruzu Obu Zesutiria?) is a Japanese role-playing game. It is the fifteenth main entry in the Tales series, developed by Bandai Namco Studios and tri-Crescendo, and published by Bandai Namco Entertainment. It was released on January 22, 2015 in Japan on the PlayStation 3. For western release, it was also ported to PlayStation 4 and Microsoft Windows via Steam. It was released on October 16 in Europe and Australia, and October 20 in North America. As with previous entries in the Tales series, the game uses a variation of the action-based Linear Motion Battle System, with additional elements including a navigable open world, and the ability for certain characters to fuse into a single entity in battle to deliver powerful attacks.

Take On Mars (TKOM) is a simulation video game for Windows that is being developed by Bohemia Interactive. The game was announced at E3 2013 and released in its alpha version on 1 August of that year. It is the second installment in the Take On series after Take On Helicopters. The user assumes control of a rover or lander in order to explore Mars. The spacecraft can be equipped with scientific instruments by the player in order to study the Martian surface and complete objectives. The game includes seven destinations for the player to visit: Asteroid Belt, Deimos moon, Gale crater, Kaiser crater, Lyot crater, Ptolemaeus crater, and Victoria crater; with Mars Yard located on earth as a testing ground. Each map is a perfect square (four by four kilometers) with an area of 16km2 (6.2mi2) to be explored with various objectives. Not all locations however are encompassed in the bounding zone, since the craters on mars take up more than 16 km2 (e.g. Gale and Kaiser crater).

Take On Helicopters (TKOH) is a 2011 video game developed by Bohemia Interactive. It was released 27 October 2011 for Microsoft Windows, with its first official DLC, Take On Helicopters: Hinds being released 15 March 2012. The DLC features three different versions of the Mi-24 Hind (Mil Mi-24 V, Mi-24 P and SuperHind Mk.III). It is the first game in the Take On video game series, followed by Take on Mars.

Tail of the Sun (太陽のしっぽ, Taiyou no Shippo: Wild, Pure, Simple Life?) is a 3D action and role-playing video game developed by Artdink and released on the PlayStation.

Superman Returns is a video game based on the movie of the same name, It was developed by EA Tiburon and published by Electronic Arts in conjunction with Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and DC Comics. It features a story arc from the movie, which was released on June 28, 2006, and more than 60 years of comic book content. EA Tiburon, known for its Madden NFL game series, has claimed that the game combines strong creative vision and compelling new technology to deliver a powerful and emotional gaming experience to their consumers, and they will experience a real sense of flying while mastering Superman's superhero powers to save Metropolis.

Super Metroid (スーパーメトロイド, Sūpā Metoroido?) is an action-adventure video game published by Nintendo, developed by its Research & Development 1 (R&D1) division, and programmed by Intelligent Systems for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System. The third game in the Metroid series, it was released in Japan on March 19, 1994, in North America on April 18, and in Europe and Australia on July 28. The game was directed and written by Yoshio Sakamoto, and produced by Makoto Kano, with Gunpei Yokoi serving as general manager.

Sunset Overdrive is an open world, third-person shooter video game developed by Insomniac Games and published by Microsoft Studios for the Xbox One. It was announced at E3 2013, and released worldwide in October 2014. The game is set in 2027, in a fictional metropolis called Sunset City. The player controls an employee of FizzCo, who has to fight off the OD, short for Overcharge Drinkers: humans who have turned into mutants after drinking FizzCo's energy drink beverage. In the dystopian Sunset City the player character can wall-run, use zip-lines, and grind rails to swiftly navigate through it, with a large arsenal of weapons to use. The game also has a cooperative multiplayer mode called Chaos Squad, which tasks players to complete a series of missions with seven players.

Submerged is a third-person exploration, post-apocalyptic indie game developed and published by Uppercut Games for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC Windows in 2015.

Steambot Chronicles, known in Japan as Ponkotsu Roman Daikatsugeki: Bumpy Trot (ポンコツ浪漫大活劇バンピートロット?) is a 2005 action-adventure role-playing game developed and published by Irem Software Engineering in Japan for the PlayStation 2. It was later published by Atlus in North America and 505 Games in PAL regions. The game features a sandbox-style of steam-powered, mech-based gameplay.

Starbound is an indie game produced by the UK-based independent game studio Chucklefish Games. Sabre Wulf a 1984 action-adventure game by Ultimate Play the Game and the first game of the Sabreman series. The player, as Sabreman, navigates a 2D jungle flip-screen maze aiming to reconstruct an amulet and escape. The maze is divided into 256 edge-to-edge screens filled with colourful flora and enemies that spawn randomly. Ultimate released the game for the ZX Spectrum in 1984 at an above-average price to combat piracy. The game's premium packaging became a company standard. S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl is a first-person shooter survival horror video game developed by GSC Game World and published by THQ. The game is set in an alternative reality, where a second nuclear disaster occurs at the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant Exclusion Zone in the near future and causes strange changes in the area around it. The game has a non-linear storyline and features gameplay elements such as trading and two-way communication with NPCs. The game includes role-playing and first person shooter elements. In S.T.A.L.K.E.R, the player assumes the identity of an amnesiac "Stalker", an illegal explorer/artifact scavenger in "The Zone", dubbed "The Marked One". "The Zone" is the location of an alternate reality version of the Zone of alienation surrounding the Chernobyl Power Plant after a second, fictitious meltdown, which further contaminated the surrounding area with radiation and caused strange otherworldly changes in local fauna, flora and the laws of physics. "Stalker" in the context of the film refers to the older meaning of the word as a tracker and hunter of game or guide.

Roma Victor is an MMORPG based on the Roman Empire in Great Britain in the latter half of the 2nd century. Roma Victor was developed by RedBedlam Ltd. of Brighton and Hove, England. The in-game world was a 30x30km representation of a section along Hadrian's Wall, including several small villages and Roman forts.

Reassembly is an open world space shooter PC game, created by video game developer Anisoptera Games. The game is available on Steam or from the developer's website via Humble Widget. Native versions are available for Microsoft Windows, Mac OS, and Linux. It was released on February 19, 2015. Although no longer in beta, there are still plans for future development.

Raven's Cry is a 2015 action-adventure game that interweaves fictional events and characters with historical ones from the 17th century Caribbean. The game is said to feature historically accurate architecture and pirates. The game follows the character of Christopher Raven, who was the only survivor of an attack by pirates, and is now seeking vengeance.

Rage is a first-person shooter video game developed by id Software. It uses the company's id Tech 5 game engine. Released in October 2011, the game was first shown as a tech demo on June 11, 2007 at the Apple Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC), and was officially announced on August 2, 2007 at QuakeCon. On the same day, a trailer for the game was released by GameTrailers.

The Radiant AI is a technology developed by Bethesda Softworks for The Elder Scrolls video games. It allows non-player characters (NPCs) to make choices and engage in behaviors more complex than in past titles. Quarantine is a 1994 racing/first-person shooter computer game for MS-DOS and 3DO, created by Imagexcel and published by GameTek. Versions for the Japanese market were done in 1996 by Asmik for the PlayStation and MediaQuest for the Sega Saturn, renamed as Hard Rock Cab and Death Throttle respectively. In the game the player drives a taxicab through a post-apocalyptic city, picking up customers and killing enemies. Due to the gratuitous violence the game was controversial at the time of release.

PULSAR: Lost Colony is a science fiction space exploration video game being developed by an independent studio called Leafy Games, LLC. Project Zomboid is an open world survival horror video game in alpha stage development by independent developer The Indie Stone. The game is set in a post apocalyptic, zombie infested world where the player is challenged to survive for as long as possible before inevitably dying. It was also one of the first five games released on the alpha funding section of the gaming portal Desura.

Prince of Persia is an action-adventure and platforming video game developed by Ubisoft Montreal and published by Ubisoft. It is part of the Prince of Persia franchise. The game was released in the United States on December 2, 2008 for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 and on December 9, 2008 for Microsoft Windows. It was later released on March 24, 2009 for Mac OS X via the Cider engine.

The Precursors is a video game from Kiev-based developer Deep Shadows. It was released on the 4 December 2009 as retail for the PC in Russia. and in December 2010 via digital distribution by GamersGate in an English version. It is also available for purchase via online retailer Beamdog. The game is set in a futuristic sci-fi environment where many political factions are engaged in an intergalactic war. The player will be able to explore a multitude of planets, travel through outer space to complete missions, obtain information, and buy weapons and supplies in a free-roaming environment. "The game blends role-playing engagement and dynamic FPS-style action in a completely open world". It is described as a "mix of RPG, FPS, and space simulation".

Postal III is a third-person shooter video game developed by TM Studios and Running With Scissors. It is the third game in the Postal series and is a spin-off sequel to Postal 2.

Postal 2 (stylized as Postal²) is a first-person shooter video game by Running With Scissors, and it is the sequel to the 1997 game Postal. Both are intentionally highly controversial due to high levels of violence and stereotyping. Unlike its predecessor, Postal 2 is played completely in first-person based on the Unreal Engine. PlanetSide 2 is a free-to-play massively multiplayer online first-person shooter published by Daybreak Game Company and released on November 20, 2012. It is a sequel of PlanetSide which originally was released in 2003. Officially announced on July 7, 2011 at the Sony Fan Fair, the second installment used a new game engine, supported thousands of players in continuous large scale conflict, and featured in-game integration with Twitch.tv. As in the first PlanetSide, PlanetSide 2 chronicles the efforts of three factions as they fight for territorial control of the planet Auraxis. PlanetSide 2 was released for the PlayStation 4 in North America on June 23, 2015. PlanetSide 2 holds the Guinness World Record for the biggest first-person shooter battle with 1158 players in a single battle.

Planet Explorers is an adventure and role-playing video game, created by Pathea Games. This sandbox game makes use of a new OpenCL system on the Unity engine, which enables players to alter the terrain and create objects.

Pitfall II: Lost Caverns is a platform video game originally released for the Atari 2600 video game console in 1984. It is the sequel to the popular Pitfall!. Both games were designed and written by David Crane and published by Activision. The star of the games is Pitfall Harry, an 8-bit jungle explorer. The game's plot was later loosely remade into Super Pitfall for the Famicom/NES.

Sid Meier's Pirates! is a 2004 strategy/action/adventure video game developed by Firaxis Games and published by Atari. The game is a remake of Sid Meier's earlier 1987 game, also named Sid Meier's Pirates!. Overall, the gameplay remains similar to the original game, though it features a 3D game engine (NDL's Gamebryo). Some elements such as sun sighting have been removed, but other features have been added, such as a ballroom dancing mini-game and an improved turn-based land combat system.

Pirates of the Caribbean: Armada of the Damned is a cancelled action-adventure role-playing video game that was being developed by Propaganda Games for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and Microsoft Windows platforms. P.A.M.E.L.A. is a sci-fi fps open world-survival horror video game in pre-alpha development by Canadian company NVYVE Studios for Microsoft Windows. The game takes place in a science fiction, utopian city called Eden, that includes areas such as malls, courtyards, and residential condos. The gameplay is that of an open world sandbox, and contains no set path for the player to follow, forcing the player to find their own way to survive. The game will also contain RPG-like progression, and story to be discovered in the game world.

Outer Wilds is an open world exploration indie video game. In the game, the player-character finds themselves on a planet with only 20 minutes before the local sun goes supernova and kills them; the player continually repeats this 20-minute cycle but learning details that can help alter the outcome on later playthroughs. The game won the Seumas McNally Grand Prize and Excellence in Design at the 2015 Independent Games Festival Awards. It was originally developed by Team Outer Wilds, but is now being developed by actor Masi Oka's studio Mobius Digital with the members of Team Outer Wilds being hired into the studio. It is in development for Microsoft Windows, OS X, and Linux, though no release date has been announced.

Outcast is an action-adventure video game developed by Belgian developer Appeal and released by Infogrames for Windows in 1999. The game was critically acclaimed, for instance it was named the "Adventure Game of the Year" by GameSpot in 1999. In 2001 a Appeal developed sequel, called Outcast II: The Lost Paradise, was never finished due to bankruptcy. In 2010 the game was re-released into the digital distribution on gog.com. In 2014 Outcast was released again as HD remake after the original developers acquired the franchise's IP again.

Operation Flashpoint: Resistance (also known as ARMA: Resistance) is an expansion pack to Operation Flashpoint: Cold War Crisis. It was developed by Bohemia Interactive, authors of the original game, and published by Codemasters. It is second expansion of Operation Flashpoint while the first one is Operation Flashpoint: Red Hammer, which was developed by Codemasters. Resistance was later re-released as part of ArmA: Cold War Assault.

Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising is a military simulation video game for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 developed by British game developer Codemasters. Codemasters has advertised the game as a tactical shooter designed to represent modern infantry combat realistically. It is a stand-alone sequel to Bohemia Interactive's Operation Flashpoint: Cold War Crisis, but was developed entirely by Codemasters due to a falling-out between the two companies.

Despite the closure of Clover Studio a few months after the game's initial release, a version for Nintendo's Wii console was developed and produced by Ready at Dawn, Tose and Capcom, which was released in North America in April 2008, in Europe in June 2008, and in Japan in October 2009.

The story begins during the Cuban Missile Crisis of 1962, with the majority of the narrative and gameplay taking place in an alternate, modern-day Soviet Union.

No Man's Sky is an upcoming adventure survival video game developed and published by the indie studio Hello Games. Players are free to explore the entirety of a procedurally generated deterministic open universe, which includes over 18 quintillion (1.8×1019) planets, many with their own set of flora and fauna. By exploring, players will gain information about the planets that they can submit to The Atlas, a universal database that can be shared with other players of the game. Players also gain materials and blueprints to upgrade their character's equipment and purchase a variety of starships, allowing them to travel deeper into the center of the galaxy, interact in friendly or hostile manners to computer-controlled space-faring factions, or trade with other ships.

Need for Speed: World (previously known as Need for Speed: World Online) was the fifteenth installment in the long-running racing video game Need for Speed franchise published by Electronic Arts. This iteration was co-developed by EA Black Box (rebranded Quicklime Games before closing in 2013) and EA Singapore. Mount & Blade: Warband is the first sequel to the action role-playing video game Mount & Blade. First announced in January 2009, the game was developed by the Turkish company TaleWorlds Entertainment and was published by Paradox Interactive on March 30, 2010. The game is available as a direct download from the TaleWorlds website or through the Steam digital distribution software, or as a DVD with required online activation. Mac OSX and Linux versions were released on July 10, 2014 through Steam.

Mount & Blade is a medieval action role-playing game for Microsoft Windows, developed by the Turkish company TaleWorlds, and published by the Swedish company Paradox Interactive. Its retail version was released on September 16, 2007, in North America, and three days later in Europe.

Mortal Online is a First Person, Open World, PvP/PvE Sandbox MMORPG developed and published by the Swedish independent video game company Star Vault. Mortal Online was released on June 9, 2010. The game is inspired by the desire to return to Ultima Online's player-controlled, sandbox-style game design; it uses Epic Games' Unreal Engine 3 and features a skill-based, real-time combat system.

Mortal Kombat: Deception is a fighting game developed and published by Midway as the sixth installment of the Mortal Kombat (MK) series. It was released for the PlayStation 2 and Xbox in October 2004, and for the Nintendo GameCube in March 2005. Mortal Kombat: Deception follows the storyline from the fifth installment, Deadly Alliance. Its story centers on the revival of the Dragon King Onaga, who attempts to conquer the realms featured in the series after defeating the sorcerers Quan Chi and Shang Tsung, the main antagonists in the previous game, and the Thunder God Raiden, defender of Earthrealm. Mirror's Edge Catalyst is an upcoming action-adventure platform video game developed by EA Digital Illusions CE and published by Electronic Arts. It is a reboot of 2008's Mirror's Edge and will revolve around Faith's origin and attempt to overthrow a totalitarian conglomerate of corporations who rule the city of Glass.

Miner Wars 2081 is a 6DOF action-survival space-shooter simulation game produced by Keen Software House. The gameplay offers a choice of single player, co-op, and deathmatch multi-player. The game is set in the year 2081, 10 years after the destruction of all planetary objects in the Solar System. The story introduces the player to many types of missions: rescue, exploration, revenge, base defense, theft, transportation, stealth, search and destroy, pure harvesting or racing.

Minecraft is a sandbox video game originally created by Swedish programmer Markus "Notch" Persson and later developed and published by Mojang. The creative and building aspects of Minecraft enable players to build constructions out of textured cubes in a 3D procedurally generated world. Other activities in the game include exploration, resource gathering, crafting, and combat. Multiple gameplay modes are available, including survival mode where the player must acquire resources to build the world and maintain health, a creative mode where players have unlimited resources to build with and the ability to fly, an adventure mode where players play custom maps created by other players and a spectator mode where players can fly around and clip through blocks, however cannot place blocks. The PC version of the game is renowned for its third-party mods, which add various new items, characters, and quests to the game.

Midwinter is a post-apocalyptic first-person action role-playing game with strategy and survival elements for the Atari ST, Amiga and PC. It was designed by Mike Singleton and was released in 1989 by Microplay Software. The game was critically acclaimed and commercially successful enough to get a sequel titled Flames of Freedom in 1991. A remake is currently in development.

Midtown Madness 3 is an open world racing/arcade sequel, part of the Midtown Madness series. For the first time in the series, the game was released only on the Xbox, with a Windows version rumoured for later release, but ultimately scrapped.

The game focuses on competitive street racing and the import scene, later popularised by The Fast and the Furious movies. The game is available for the PlayStation 2 and Game Boy Advance platforms, the former being a launch title for the platform. It is the first game in Midnight Club franchise, followed by Midnight Club II.

It has also been confirmed by several sources that each car has a polygon count of roughly 100,000. After several delays, Midnight Club: Los Angeles was released on October 20, 2008 in North America and on October 24, 2008 in the PAL region.

Miasmata is a survival indie video game developed by brothers Joe and Bob Johnson under the studio name IonFX. It was released worldwide on September 1, 2015. The game is the eleventh canonical and final installment in the Metal Gear series and the fifth within the series' chronology. It serves as a sequel to Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes, and a continuation of the narrative established there, and a prequel to the original Metal Gear game. It carries over the tagline of Tactical Espionage Operations first used in Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker. Set in 1984, the game follows the mercenary leader Punished "Venom" Snake as he ventures into Afghanistan and the Angola–Zaire border region to exact revenge on the people who destroyed his forces and came close to killing him during the climax of Ground Zeroes.

Mercenaries: Playground of Destruction is an action-adventure video game developed by Pandemic Studios and published on January 11, 2005 by LucasArts for PlayStation 2 and Xbox. The game features an open world environment, with elements of potential stealth gaming and reputation-based social mechanics, and is set during a fictitious multi-national military action in North Korea, circa 2007. The player takes control of one of three mercenary characters and completes contracts in the war-torn country for profit and to prevent a nuclear war. Critics gave favorable reviews to the game, in particular praising its focus on explosive mayhem.

The game allows the player to take on the role of a mafioso who has to accomplish various missions in order to advance in the game.

Mafia III is an upcoming open world third-person action-adventure video game developed by Hangar 13 and published by 2K Games, scheduled to be released for Microsoft Windows, OS X, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One in 2016. It is the third installment in the Mafia series, and the debut title for Hangar 13.

The Long Dark is a first-person open world-survival simulation video game in development by Canadian company Hinterland for multiple platforms. The player assumes the role of a crash-landed bush pilot who must survive the frigid Canadian wilderness after a global disaster. The game received seed financing from the Canada Media Fund, and further funding was secured through a successful Kickstarter campaign in October 2013.

Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII (ライトニング リターンズ ファイナルファンタジーXIII, Raitoningu Ritānzu: Fainaru Fantajī Sātīn?) is action role-playing video game developed and published by Square Enix for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. It was released on November 2013 in Japan and February 2014 in Europe and North America. A port to Microsoft Windows through Steam was released in December 2015. The game is a direct sequel to Final Fantasy XIII-2, concludes the storyline of Final Fantasy XIII, and forms part of the Fabula Nova Crystallis subseries. Lightning Returns employs a highly revamped version of the gameplay system from the previous two games, with an action-oriented battle system, the ability to customize the player character's outfits, and a time limit the player must extend by completing story missions and side quests.

Lego Worlds is a 2016 Lego sandbox game developed by TT Games and published by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment. The game allows players to build constructions in a 3D procedurally generated world. A beta version of the game was released on June 1, 2015 on Steam early access.

Lego Marvel's Avengers is an upcoming Lego action-adventure video game developed by TT Games and published by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, for the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, PlayStation Vita, Nintendo 3DS, Wii U, Xbox One, Xbox 360, and Microsoft Windows. It is a spin-off and the second installment of the Lego Marvel franchise and will follow the plots of both The Avengers and Avengers: Age of Ultron as well as Captain America: The First Avenger, Iron Man 3, Thor: The Dark World, and Captain America: The Winter Soldier. It will include the characters of the Avengers team along with many others. The game will be released on January 26, 2016.

Interactive Entertainment in 2013 for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Wii U, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Microsoft Windows, and published by Feral Interactive for OS X. The game features gameplay similar to other Lego titles, such as Lego Star Wars: The Complete Saga and Lego Batman 2: DC Super Heroes, alternating between various action-adventure sequences and puzzle-solving scenarios. The game was released under the title Lego Marvel Super Heroes: Universe in Peril for iOS, Android, Nintendo DS, Nintendo 3DS and PlayStation Vita handheld systems.

Lego Batman 2: DC Super Heroes is a Lego action-adventure video game developed by Traveller's Tales, for the PlayStation 3, PlayStation Vita, Nintendo 3DS, Wii U, Wii, Nintendo DS, Xbox 360, Microsoft Windows, Mac OS X, and iOS. The game is a standalone sequel to Lego Batman: The Videogame and the second Lego Batman video game. Numerous DC characters within the Batman continuity and outside it are playable characters. It is the thirteenth installment in the The Legend of Zelda series. Originally planned for release on the GameCube in November 2005, Twilight Princess was delayed by Nintendo to allow its developers to refine the game, add more content, and port it to the Wii. The Wii version was released alongside the console in North America in November 2006, and in Japan, Europe, and Australia the following month; this made Twilight Princess the first Zelda launch title for a Nintendo console. The GameCube version was released in December 2006.

The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword (Japanese: ゼルダの伝説 スカイウォードソード, Hepburn: Zeruda no Densetsu: Sukaiwōdo Sōdo?) is an action-adventure game for the Wii video game console and the sixteenth entry in the Legend of Zelda series. Developed by Nintendo Entertainment Analysis & Development and published by Nintendo, it was released worldwide in November 2011. The game makes use of the Wii MotionPlus peripheral for sword fighting, with a revised Wii Remote pointing system used for targeting. A limited-edition bundle featuring a golden Wii Remote Plus was sold coinciding with the game's launch; the first run of both the standard game and the limited-edition bundle included a CD containing orchestrated tracks of iconic music from the franchise in celebration of its 25th anniversary.

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D (Japanese: ゼルダの伝説 時のオカリナ 3D, Hepburn: Zeruda no Densetsu: Toki no Okarina 3D?) is an action-adventure video game co-developed by Grezzo and Nintendo EAD Tokyo and published by Nintendo for the Nintendo 3DS handheld game console. The game was released in Japan on 16 June 2011, in Europe on 17 June 2011, in North America on 19 June 2011, and in Australia on 30 June 2011; however, it was released early on 24 June 2011 in some Australian stores. A remake of the 1998 Nintendo 64 title The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, it features mirrored versions of the rearranged dungeons from Ocarina of Time Master Quest, as well as updated graphics and added stereoscopic effects.

The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask (Japanese: ゼルダの伝説 ムジュラの仮面, Hepburn: Zeruda no Densetsu: Mujura no Kamen?) is an action-adventure video game developed by Nintendo's Entertainment Analysis & Development division for the Nintendo 64. It was released in Japan on April 27, 2000, in North America on October 26, 2000, and in Europe on November 17, 2000. Approximately 314,000 copies of the game were sold during its first week in Japan, and three million copies were sold worldwide. The game was rereleased for the Nintendo GameCube as part of The Legend of Zelda: Collector's Edition in 2003, and the Wii's Virtual Console service in 2009. An enhanced remake for the Nintendo 3DS, titled The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask 3D, was released in February 2015.

Set in the fantasy land of Hyrule, the plot centers on a boy named Link, the playable protagonist, who aims to collect the eight fragments of the Triforce of Wisdom in order to rescue Princess Zelda from the antagonist, Ganon. During the course of the game, the player sees Link from a top-down perspective and must navigate him through the overworld and several dungeons, defeating enemies and finding secrets along the way.

The Legend of Zelda (Japanese: ゼルダの伝説, Hepburn: Zeruda no Densetsu?) is the working title of an upcoming action-adventure game in development by Nintendo Entertainment Planning & Development for the Wii U home video game console. It is the nineteenth main installment in Nintendo's The Legend of Zelda series and the first original Zelda game developed with high-definition (HD) graphics. The game will feature an open world in which players can find different ways to approach areas.

Legend of Grimrock II is an action role-playing video game from Finnish game developer Almost Human Ltd. It is the sequel to the 2012 title Legend of Grimrock, and was released for Microsoft Windows on 15 October 2014, and for OS X on 18 March 2015.

Legacy of the Wizard, also known as Dragon Slayer IV: Drasle Family (ドラゴンスレイヤーIV ドラスレファミリー?) in Japan, is a fantasy-themed action role-playing platform game released for the MSX, MSX2 and Famicom in Japan and for the Nintendo Entertainment System in the United States. Legacy of the Wizard is an installment in Falcom's Dragon Slayer series, and one of only three Dragon Slayer games to make it to the United States. The game was an early example of an open-world, non-linear action RPG, combining action-RPG gameplay with what would later be called "Metroidvania"-style action-adventure elements.

Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver is an action-adventure game developed by Crystal Dynamics and published by Eidos Interactive. It was released for the PlayStation and Microsoft Windows in 1999 and for the Dreamcast in 2000. As the second game in the Legacy of Kain series, Soul Reaver is the sequel to Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain. Soul Reaver was followed by three games, one of which, Soul Reaver 2, is a direct sequel.

Legacy of Kain: Dead Sun was an action-adventure video game developed by Climax Studios for Square Enix Europe, with an accompanying multiplayer component developed separately by Psyonix. Conceived as the sixth entry in the Legacy of Kain series, Dead Sun entered production for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, and Xbox 360, but was cancelled in 2012 following three years of work, and initially remained undisclosed to the public. Landstalker: The Treasures of King Nole (ランドストーカー 皇帝の財宝, Landstalker: Kōtei no Zaihō?) is an action-adventure role-playing video game that was developed by Climax Entertainment originally released for the Mega Drive/Genesis in 1992 in Japan and 1993 elsewhere. A follow up game called Lady Stalker: Challenge from the Past was released in Japan for the SNES in 1995. The Sega Saturn game Dark Savior (produced by the same company) is considered its spiritual successor. The main characters from Landstalker, Nigel (Ryle in Japan and France, Niels in Germany) and Friday, reappear in the Dreamcast game Time Stalkers.

L.A. Noire (pronounced /ˈnwɑr/) is a neo-noir detective video game developed by Team Bondi and published by Rockstar Games. It was initially released for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 platforms on 17 May 2011; a Microsoft Windows port was later released on 8 November 2011. L.A. Noire is set in Los Angeles in 1947 and challenges the player, controlling a Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) officer, to solve a range of cases across five divisions. Players must investigate crime scenes for clues, follow up leads, and interrogate suspects, and the player's success at these activities will impact how much of each case's story is revealed.

Kurohyō: Ryū ga Gotoku Shinshō (クロヒョウ　龍が如く新章, lit. "Black Panther: Like a Dragon New Chapter"?), codenamed "Project K", is a 2010 video game developed by Syn Sophia (formerly AKI Corporation) and released by Sega for the PlayStation Portable. The game was introduced on April 21, 2010 by Famitsu and is a spin-off from Sega's Yakuza series. An adaptation of the game was televised from October 5 to December 21, 2010 on Tokyo Broadcasting System.

Knytt Underground is a 2D adventure-exploration game with elements of arcade platformers and combining the mechanics of Knytt and Within a Deep Forest. It was developed by Nicklas Nygren and released in late 2012, with the PlayStation platforms seeing the first launch. Underground offers two playable characters, non-linear gameplay, multiple endings and a large number of side-quests and secrets.

Knights of the Temple II is an open-world action-adventure game, developed by Cauldron and published by Playlogic Entertainment. It is the sequel to Knights of the Temple: Infernal Crusade.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance is an upcoming role-playing video game, set in the 15th century medieval Kingdom of Bohemia with a focus on historically accurate and realistic content. The game will be a single-player experience with branching quest lines and a highly interactive world encouraging emergent gameplay. Kingdom Come will feature period-accurate armor and clothing, combat techniques, and real-world castles recreated with the assistance of architects and historians. The game will also contain period music recorded by Czech masters that were taken note for note from medieval song books. Kingdom Come: Deliverance is scheduled for a Q2 release in 2016 for Microsoft Windows, OS X, and Linux. PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions have been confirmed as well for a later date.

H1Z1 is a survival sandbox massively multiplayer online game in development by Daybreak Game Company (formerly Sony Online Entertainment). H1Z1 is currently being developed for Microsoft Windows and eventually PlayStation 4.

Gun is a Revisionist Western-themed action-adventure video game developed by Neversoft and published by Activision for the PlayStation 2, Xbox, GameCube, Microsoft Windows, and Xbox 360. The game was released in North America on November 17, 2005, and during mid-to-late-November in Europe. Since October 13, 2006, the game has been available to buy on Steam. The PlayStation Portable version, released on October 10, 2006 under the title Gun: Showdown, features new side-missions, a multiplayer mode, and other additions that were not available in the console versions.

Grow Home is an adventure platform video game developed by Ubisoft Reflections and published by Ubisoft. It was released for Microsoft Windows on February 4, 2015, and for PlayStation 4 on September 1, 2015. The game follows a robot named B.U.D., who is tasked with growing a plant that will oxygenate its home planet. Players explore an open world, moving B.U.D. and individually using each of its arms to climb and interact with objects. The game was available for free download via PlayStation Plus as one of the two free monthly games in September 2015.

Grim Dawn is an action role-playing game developed by Crate Entertainment. Crate Entertainment announced on July 27, 2009 that they had licensed the Titan Quest engine from Iron Lore and announced Grim Dawn's development on January 21, 2010 Initially, few details were revealed, with Crate Entertainment simply stating that Grim Dawn is set in a thematically-dark fictional world loosely based on the Victorian era. Subsequently through Crate's official forums, more information about the game has slowly been revealed.

Directed by Keiichiro Toyama and written by Naoko Sato (previously known for the Siren series and the first Silent Hill), the core mechanics of the game is the player's ability to manipulate gravity, allowing unique movements and navigation. The graphics are cel-shaded, which in Toyama's opinion stand out from the western photorealistic trend.

Gates of Skeldal (Czech:Brány Skeldalu) is a Dungeon crawler role-playing video game. The 2D and 3D graphics combining game was developed by Czech studio Napoleon Games and published by JRC Interactive in 1998. In 2007 the game was made freeware, followed by the opening of the source code in 2008. After a successful crowdfunding campaign, a port for mobile phones was released in 2014.

Gangs of London is an action-adventure open world video game released in 2006 for Sony's PlayStation Portable console. It was developed by SCE London Studio and published by Sony Computer Entertainment. The player has the choice to play as five different gangs in London, all with different ethnicities and colours. It is separate in canon from The Getaway despite its close likeness and same publisher.

The Forest is a first-person open world-survival horror video game in development by Canadian company Endnight Games for Microsoft Windows and PlayStation 4. The game's pre-alpha version was released through Steam Early Access on May 30, 2014. The game takes place on a heavily forested island where the player character and a young child presumed to be the player's son are the survivors of a plane crash. The game is an open world sandbox, with no set missions or quests, empowering the player to make their own decisions for survival. Early reviews for the pre-alpha version were highly positive. The alpha is currently in a playable state with additional gameplay features planned and in development.

Cyberpunk 2077 is an upcoming action role-playing video game based on the Cyberpunk series of tabletop role-playing games. Announced in 2012, the game is being developed by CD Projekt RED. Cyberpunk 2077 will feature a dystopian futuristic world in which ultra-modern technology co-exists with a degenerated human society.

Cube World is an open world RPG video game in development by Picroma for Microsoft Windows. Wolfram von Funck began developing the game in June 2011, and was later joined by his wife Sarah von Funck. An early alpha version of the game was released on July 2, 2013. However, as of July 2015, the game is unavailable for purchase and has not received any updates since July 23, 2013. A significant lack of communication by the developer about the game's current development has fueled speculation about its future. In October 2015, Von Funck tweeted that he was currently adding music to Cube World.

Reception to Crazy Taxi has been mostly positive. It was ported to other platforms numerous times, including the PlayStation 2 and Nintendo GameCube by Acclaim in 2001, and then Microsoft Windows in 2002. The game has also been re-released for the PlayStation Network, Xbox Live Arcade, iOS, and is featured on the Dreamcast Collection. It became one of the few Sega All Stars on the Dreamcast, and also earned Greatest Hits and Player's Choice status on PlayStation 2 and GameCube respectively. Sega followed up on the success of Crazy Taxi with numerous sequels, the first being Crazy Taxi 2 for the Dreamcast, which included several gameplay changes.

Crackdown 3 is an upcoming sandbox-style third-person shooter video game for Xbox One developed by British developer Reagent Games, a studio led by former Realtime Worlds head and series creator David Jones, and published by Microsoft Studios. Continuing the series 6 years after the release of 2010's Xbox 360 video game Crackdown 2, the game focuses on Microsoft Azure-powered mass scale destruction that enables everything in the game to be destroyed.

Bully, released in PAL regions as Canis Canem Edit, is an open world, action-adventure video game developed by Rockstar Vancouver and published by Rockstar Games. It was released on 17 October 2006 for the PlayStation 2. A remaster of the game, subtitled Scholarship Edition, was developed by Rockstar New England and released on 4 March 2008 for the Xbox 360 and Wii, and on 21 October 2008 for Microsoft Windows. Set within the fictional town of Bullworth, the story follows a student and his efforts to rise through the ranks of the school system. The open world design lets players freely roam Bullworth, which includes a number of towns.

Brütal Legend is an action-adventure game with real-time strategy game elements created by Double Fine Productions and published by Electronic Arts for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. The game was released during October 2009 in North America, Europe, and Australia. Though Brütal Legend was originally to be published by Vivendi Games prior to its merger with Activision, Activision dropped the game from its portfolio after the merger. It was later picked up by Electronic Arts, though Activision and Double Fine brought counter-lawsuits against each other over publishing issues. The issues were settled out of court. Later, Double Fine announced a port of the game for Microsoft Windows via Steam, which was released in February 2013. Mac OS X and Linux versions of the game were made available as part of the Humble Bundle in May 2013.

PlayStation 4 and Xbox One ports were released as part of Borderlands: The Handsome Collection on 24 March 2015.

Boiling Point: Road to Hell (Xenus: Точка кипения, Xenus: Boiling Point) is a video game developed by the Ukrainian based game studio Deep Shadows and published in 2005 by Atari. Boiling Point's gameplay is a combination of both FPS and role-playing video game mechanics. Critical response upon its release was, with few exceptions, lukewarm. This was attributed to the many technical issues that plagued the game's release: bugs, glitches and choppy performance. Patches have been released that address many, but not all, of these deficiencies. Deep Shadows released a successor in 2009 called White Gold: War In Paradise, and another game with the same engine called Precursors.

Body Harvest is a video game for the Nintendo 64 video game console, developed by DMA Design. It was originally intended to be an Nintendo 64 launch title, but was delayed due to its original publisher, Nintendo, having issues with the game's violent themes, and eventual dropping of the title, leaving DMA to find a new publisher. It was eventually published by Gremlin Graphics in October 1998.

Batman: Arkham is a series of action-adventure video games based on the DC Comics character Batman, developed by Rocksteady Studios and Warner Bros. Games Montréal, and published by Warner Bros. The first two Rocksteady games were written by veteran Batman writer Paul Dini and featured voice actors Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill reprising their roles as Batman and Joker, respectively, from the DC Animated Universe (DCAU). Assassin's Creed Rogue is a historical fiction action-adventure open world stealth video game developed by Ubisoft Sofia and published by Ubisoft. It is the seventh major installment in the Assassin's Creed series, and acts as a sequel to 2013's Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag and a prequel to 2012's Assassin's Creed III with its final mission being the prologue to 2014's Assassin's Creed Unity. It is the last of the Assassin's Creed games to be released on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, Ubisoft announcing that the company will no longer release games for them, except for its casual rhythm series Just Dance. The game was first released on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in November and December 2014, and released on Microsoft Windows on March 10, 2015.

Ark: Survival Evolved (stylized as ARK: Survival Evolved) is an action-adventure survival video game developed by Studio Wildcard, Instinct Games, Efecto Studios and Virtual Basement. It is scheduled for release in June 2016 for Linux, Microsoft Windows, OS X, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. The game's early access began for Windows on June 2, 2015, for OS X and Linux on July 1, 2015, and for Xbox One on December 16, 2015. In the game, players must survive in a world filled with roaming dinosaurs, natural hazards, and potentially hostile human players.

APB: All Points Bulletin is a multiplayer online video game for Microsoft Windows developed by Realtime Worlds and was acquired by Reloaded Productions, which is part of the GamersFirst company. Based in urban sprawls and featuring two factions, Enforcers and the Criminals, players can form sub-groups in either faction and carry out missions. The game design was led by David Jones, who created the original Grand Theft Auto and Crackdown, and was developed by Realtime Worlds. It was released on June 6, 2010 in North America and Europe.

Ant Attack is a ZX Spectrum computer game by Sandy White. It was published in 1983 by Quicksilva, and converted to the Commodore 64 in 1984. It was one of the first, if not the first, isometric 3D games.

American Truck Simulator is an upcoming vehicle simulation game. It is being developed by SCS Software, and is the parallel video game to Euro Truck Simulator 2. It was revealed at the Electronic Entertainment Expo 2015 (E3 2015), although it was first announced in September 2013. SCS Software plans to release the game on 3 February 2016.

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is an action-adventure video game based on the Marvel Comics character Spider-Man, and is a sequel to 2012's The Amazing Spider-Man. Age of Pirates: Caribbean Tales, known in Russia as Corsairs III (Корсары III), is a video game developed by Akella. Due to legal issues, it does not bear the name of the developers' previous pirate games Sea Dogs and Pirates of the Caribbean. Unlike Pirates of the Caribbean, Age Of Pirates was developed with the intent of serving as a true sequel to Sea Dogs despite the name change, and chronicles the story of the children of the main character from the original. The sequel of the game was released on May 26, 2009 titled Age of Pirates 2: City of Abandoned Ships

Age of Pirates 2: City of Abandoned Ships (Russian: Корсары: Город потерянных кораблей, literally "Corsairs: City of Abandoned Ships") is a role-playing video game developed by Akella, which was released on May 26, 2009. It is the sequel to Sea Dogs (2000), Pirates of the Caribbean (2003), and Age of Pirates: Caribbean Tales (2006). Like Caribbean Tales, it does not boast either of the two former games' names, due to legal reasons.

Adventure is a video game for the Atari 2600 video game console, released at Christmas time in 1979 or 1980. In the game, the player controls a square avatar whose quest is to hunt an open world environment for a magical chalice, returning it to the golden castle. The game world is populated by roaming enemies: dragons, which can eat the avatar; and a bat, which randomly steals and hides items around the game world.

7 Days to Die (abbreviated as 7DTD or 7D2D) is an open world, voxel-based sandbox game created by The Fun Pimps. It is a mash up of first-person shooter, survival horror, and role-playing games combining combat, crafting, looting, mining, exploration, and character growth. It was released through Early Access on Steam for Microsoft Windows and OS X on on December 13, 2013.

2 Days to Vegas is a third-person action-adventure game. The game is set in several major cities across the United States and takes place during a 48 hour period. 2 Days to Vegas is set to release for the Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360 platforms. While the game has been in development for almost eleven years, there is no announced release date, and it's presumed that the game has been cancelled.

Open world is a term for video games where a player can move freely through a virtual world and is given considerable freedom in choosing how or when to approach objectives, as opposed to other computer games that have a more linear structure. Open world and free-roaming suggest the absence of artificial barriers, in contrast to the invisible walls and loading screens that are common in linear level designs. Generally, open world games still enforce many restrictions in the game environment, either because of absolute technical limitations or in-game limitations (such as locked areas) imposed by a game's linearity. Examples of high level of autonomy in computer games can be found in MMORPG or in other games adhering to the "open world concept". Their main appeal is they provide a simulated reality and allow players to develop their character and its behavior in the direction of their choosing. In these cases, there is often no concrete goal or end to the game. There are limitations to this autonomy through the rules of the simulation and its limitations. But the direction of gameplay may or may not rely ultimately upon the decision of the player, as in some cases this can be completely controllable by the player, the type depends on the requirements and availabilities of the game.
