College Wrestling

The American Eagles men's wrestling team represents American University in Washington, D.C. in NCAA Division I competition. The school's team competes in the Eastern Intercollegiate Wrestling Association (The Patriot League does not sponsor wrestling) and have their home matches in Bender Arena.

The Appalachian State Mountaineers wrestling team represents Appalachian State University of Boone, North Carolina. The squad is coached by JohnMark Bentley. Bentley is assisted by Matt Fisk, Pete Friedl, and Kyle Jahn.

ASU has had a very successful wrestling team. The Sun Devils have captured one NCAA team national championship in 1988 beating powerhouse Iowa, followed by two years of national runner ups in 1989 & 1990 losing out to Oklahoma State both years. Also, the Sun Devil Wrestling team produced eight individual championships, and 100 total All American honors.

The Binghamton Bearcats wrestling team represents Binghamton University of Vestal, New York. The squad was coached by Pat Popolizio, a former wrestler for the Oklahoma State Cowboys, who left in 2012 to take the head wrestling coach position at North Carolina State University. Popolizio was succeeded by Matt Dernlan who had been the head coach of the Clarion Golden Eagles. Binghamton has fielded a college wrestling team since 1969.

The Huskies wrestling team competes in the Division I Eastern Wrestling League with Jason Mester as head coach. The Nelson Field House, located on Bloomsburg University's upper campus, serves as home for the wrestling team's dual meets and tournaments.

In 1999 as an assistant coach for the Broncos, Randall helped guide Kirk White to the 165-pound national title. In his 12 seasons since being promoted to head coach, Gregg Randall's teams have finished in the top-three at the conference tournament 10 times. In 1988 BSU wrestling joined the Pac-10. Randall has led the Broncos to the top of the Pac-12 Conference four times, to go along with seven top-25 finishes at the NCAA Championships including a 9th-place finish at the 2010-11 NCAA Championships. In 2006 Randall guided his first individual NCAA Champion as a head coach with Ben Cherrington capturing the national title in the 157-pound weight class.

Todd Beckerman, former Nebraska All-American, enters his third season as the leader of the Brown University wrestling program in 2015-16 after taking over the position on June 14, 2013. Beckerman joined the Bears' coaching staff following eight successful seasons at the University of Maryland, where he served as the head assistant coach and recruiting coordinator.

Dan Wirnsberger, who officially became the 15th coach of the Bucknell wrestling program on May 10, 2005, enters his 10th year at the helm of the Orange and Blue in 2014-15.

The wrestling program at Cal Poly competes as a member of the Pac-12 Conference (The Big West does not sponsor wrestling) which is traditionally one of the strongest conferences in college wrestling. Cal Poly has had two wrestlers (Tom Kline & Mark DiGirolamo) win the NCAA Wrestling Championship and 46 wrestlers earn All-American honors.

CSUB Wrestling competes in the Pac-12 conference since the WAC does not sponsor the sport. CSUB wrestling is the institution's original Division-I sport and since 1988 has placed as high as 3rd (1996) and 8th (1997 & 1999) in the NCAA D-I Wrestling Championships. The Roadrunner Wrestling team has produced 7 individual NCAA DI Champions beginning in 1980. Stephen Neal (156, 1996-99) is the all-time winningest wrestler at CSU Bakersfield with a record of 156-10 (the most wins of any CSUB wrestler), the most pins with 71 total, only 1 of 5 Roadrunner Wrestlers to be a 4-time All-American, as well as being a 2-time Division-I Champion in 1998 & 1999.

The Campbell Fighting Camels wrestling team represents Campbell University of Buies Creek, North Carolina. The squad is coached by Cary Kolat, an assistant coach at North Carolina before coming to Campbell. He was a four time All-American and a two-time national champion for the Lock Haven Bald Eagles. The Fighting Camels are associate members of the Southern Conference.

Chippewa Matmen have been at CMU dating back to 1955. Central Michigan Chippewa wrestling team is led by head coach Tom Borrelli are among the best in the nation each year competing in the NCAA Division I. Currently in his 22nd season with CMU wrestling, Borrelli has accomplished: 13 Mid-American Conference titles, seven top-15 national finishes in the last nine years, led the first program in MAC history to qualify all 10 wrestlers for the NCAA Championships, and named 2008 National Coach of the Year by two publications.

The Clarion Golden Eagles wrestling team represents Clarion University of Pennsylvania of Clarion, Pennsylvania. The squad is coached by Troy Letters. Who replaced Matt Derlan, now the coach of the Binghamton Bearcats. Derlan replaced Teague Moore who left the Clarion collegiate wrestling program to become the head coach at American University. The Golden Eagles wrestle in the Eastern Wrestling League (EWL) and participate in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) as well.

Ben Stehura enters his fifth season as the head coach of the Cleveland State wrestling program, continuing to build the program with young and talented wrestlers.

Carl Fronhofer was named the Andrew F. Barth Head Coach of Wrestling on June 30, 2011. Fronhofer first joined the Columbia wrestling coaching staff in August 2008 as an assistant coach. Fronhofer boasts an impressive wrestling resume including All-America honors at the University of Pittsburgh, as well as also being a member of the US national team in 2009.

The Cornell Big Red wrestling team represents Cornell University of Ithaca, New York. For the past nineteen years, Rob Koll has served as the Head Coach for the Big Red squad.

Bob Patnesky is in his eleventh season as Davidson College's head wrestling coach and ranks third in all-time victories at the school. For the first time in program history, the Wildcats qualified a pair of wrestlers for the 2014 NCAA National Championship during the 2013-14 season. Davidson boasted its' second straight SoCon champion, as Scott Patrick won the 2014 SoCon title at 184 pounds. In addition to tying the school record with 14 pins and ranking in the top-5 of the nation in wins by fall, Kevin Birmingham joined Patrick in Oklahoma City after finishing as the runner-up at 149 pounds at the SoCon Championships.

Matt Azevedo, who is entering his fifth season as head coach of the Dragons, joined the Drexel coaching staff in April of 2011 after a successful coaching career at Cornell University and Cal Poly. He is the eighth head coach in the school's history and replaced Jack Childs, who retired after 35 seasons at Drexel.

In 1838 as Trinity College the Blue Devil Wrestling team was founded. The team competes in the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) and is currently coached by University of Oklahoma 1988 graduate Glen Lanham. The team competes on campus in the Card Gymnasium. In 2009, heavyweight Konrad Dudziak became Duke's first All-American placing 2nd in 2008-2009 and 4th in 2009-2010.

Eastern Michigan Eagles wrestling team is a men's athletic program at Eastern Michigan University. Based in Ypsilanti in the U.S. state of Michigan, the Eastern Michigan Eagles compete in NCAA Division I and are a member of Mid-American Conference.

Mike Rogers begins his sixth season as Franklin & Marshall's head wrestling coach in 2015-16. He has sent an F&M wrestler to the NCAA Tournament in four of his five seasonsin Lancaster, and has guided the Diplomats to eight Eastern Intercollegiate Wrestling Association (EIWA) place winnings, including Richard Durso's gold-medal finish at the 2013 championship meet. Rogers helped the Diplomats achieve four EIWA place winners in 2011-12, the most in a single season at F&M since 1976.

The Gardner-Webb Runnin' Bulldogs wrestling team represents Gardner-Webb University as an Associate Member of the Southern Conference of NCAA Division I wrestling (G-W's primary conference, the Big South Conference, does not sponsor wrestling).

Joe Russell was named the ninth head wrestling coach in George Mason history in July 2011. He arrived in Fairfax following an outstanding career as an assistant at the University of Minnesota.

During its four-year transition, the Lopes wrestling team will compete in the National Collegiate Wrestling Association. The school won the 2014 NCWA National Duels and Collegiate Cup championships.

Head coach Jay Weiss and his coaching staff have put the Harvard Wrestling program on the map. First established in 1913, the Harvard wrestling team is celebrating its 100th anniversary in 2013-14, making the Crimson one of the oldest collegiate wrestling programs in the nation. As part of that celebration GoCrimson.com has released the "Top Moments in Harvard Wrestling History" in collaboration with the Harvard Crimson Wrestling team. The team practices and competes in the Malkin Athletic Center. In 1938, The Harvard Wrestling team featured the program's first national champion, John Harkness. Jesse Jantzen '04 graduated in 2004 as the most accomplished wrestler in Harvard history.

The Hofstra University Pride Wrestling team competes in the Eastern Intercollegiate Wrestling Association in the NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships. Dennis Papadatos, who became the 12th Head Wrestling Coach in Hofstra history on April 4, 2014, is in his 1st season as the head wrestling coach of the Pride in 2014-15. The Pride wrestling team competes on campus in the Mack Sports Complex. Former Pride wrestler Chris Weidman was a 2-time NCAA Division I All-American and is now the current UFC Middleweight Champion.

The Indiana Hoosiers Wrestling began in 1909, with accomplishments such as: 50 individual All-Americans, 12 individual NCAA National Champions from 1932-2008, and 1 team NCAA National title in 1932. In 1946 Indiana took 2nd in the Big Ten Championships and 4th in the NCAA Championships. In recent years better seasons included the 1989-1990 season placed 2nd in the Big Ten Conference and 8th at the NCAA Championships, and the 2004-2005 season took 5th place at the Big Ten Conference and 9th at the NCAA Championships.

Iowa State has won 8 national championships in wrestling. Iowa State's head coach is Kevin Jackson. Iowa State became the first collegiate wrestling program to reach 1000 dual wins on February 7, 2010.

The wrestling team is one of Kent State's oldest sports, going back to its establishment in 1927. It has historically been one of the school's most successful teams, winning multiple conference titles and making a series of appearances in the NCAA tournament, finishing as high as 5th nationally in both 1941 and 1942.

Lehigh's wrestling team competes in the EIWA (The Patriot League does not sponsor wrestling). Lehigh has a strong tradition in wrestling dating back to 1910, and often wins the league and places in the top 10 at the NCAA National Championships. Lehigh is considered one of the best private schools in the country for wrestling, having had 27 National NCAA individual champions, 136 NCAA All-Americans, 16 top five NCAA team finishes, 34-time EIWA Champions, and 203 individual EIWA Champions. Its last national champion was Zack Rey.

The Lock Haven Bald Eagles wrestling team represents Lock Haven University of Pennsylvania of Lock Haven, Pennsylvania.

Wrestling was one of the earliest sports formed at the Michigan Agricultural College. While the sport was dropped in 1906, it was reformed by the college 16 years later in 1922. The school's wrestling team has won the NCAA Division I championship once, in 1967. Its current coach, Tom Minkel, has produced 33 All-Americans, 11 Big Ten Champions and one NCAA Champion currently in his 23rd season as the Spartans Head coach, and 25th as a coach.

North Carolina State University Wrestling team was established in 1925 and go by a team nickname of the "Wolfpack". The current head coach is Pat Popolizio, named head wrestling coach for the Wolfpack on April 10, 2012. Currently in his 2nd season with the NC State Wrestling team, Popolizio is a three-time NCAA qualifier. The wrestling team compete at home on campus in the Reynolds Coliseum. NC State Wrestling also has a blog online mainly to keep up to date with the team and focus on the NCAA Championships.

The North Dakota State Bison Wrestling team is part of the athletic program at the North Dakota State University (NDSU) in Fargo, North Dakota. They are members of the NCAA Division I and the Big 12 Conference (NDSU's main conference, The Summit League, does not sponsor wrestling). The Bison are coached by Roger Kish.

The Northern Illinois Huskies are the athletic teams that represent Northern Illinois University. The Huskies are a member of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I and the Mid-American Conference. The athletic program is made up of 7 men's sports (baseball, basketball, football, golf, soccer, tennis, wrestling) and 10 women's sports (basketball, cross country, golf, gymnastics, soccer, softball, tennis, track, volleyball). The football team competes in the Football Bowl Subdivision.

The Northwestern University Wildcats men's wrestling team competes in the NCAA Division I Championships in the Welsh-Ryan Arena. The wrestling facilities are named in honor of Ken Kraft, for his 48 years of involvement with the Northwestern wrestling program. Kraft was a four-year member of the Wildcat wrestling squad and NU's head coach for 22 years. In 2004, Kraft retired after spending 51 years at NU as an athlete, coach and administrator.

Old Dominion Monarchs wrestling was established in 1957. The school's departure from the CAA forced the Wrestling team to become an associate member of the Mid-American Conference, as Conference USA does not sponsor wrestling. The Old Dominion head wrestling coach is Steve Martin, currently in his tenth season with the program. Practicing takes place at the Wrestling Facility and duals & tournaments are held at the Ted Constant Convocation Center located on campus.

The Oregon State Beavers wrestling program was established in 1909, competing in collegiate wrestling across 95 seasons since then. Traditionally a national powerhouse, the Beavers won the Amateur Athletic Union national championship in 1926 (Oregon State's first national championship in any sport) and have won their conference championship 50 times. The team has produced 89 All-Americans, 12 individual national champions, and is associated with five National Wrestling Hall of Fame members.

The Penn State Nittany Lions wrestling team is a NCAA Division I Wrestling team. Coached by former Olympian Cael Sanderson, the Nittany Lions have maintained status as a top wrestling program. Penn State holds a four-time NCAA team championship winning streak from 2011-2014, and has won five overall NCAA National Championships. There are many very talented wrestlers who currently attend Penn State including Nico Megaludis, Zain Retherford, Morgan McIntosh & Matt Brown.

With a history of over a century, the Princeton Tiger Wrestling team began in 1905. The Princeton wrestling team competes in Dillon Gym, an arena once dominated by the historic basketball icon Bill Bradley. However, the Princeton wrestling team has plenty of historic moments within its own facilities.

The Purdue Boilermaker Wrestling Team started in the 1913-1914 season. Placing as high as 2nd in the NCAA National Championships the team has placed in the NCAA tournament for over 25 years straight. The team is coached by Tony Ersland, who wrestled for the University of Iowa under legendary coach Dan Gable. The team competes in the Big Ten Conference. Purdue Wrestling practices in the Blake Wrestling Training Center and competes on campus in the Holloway Gymnasium (2,288).

Rider wrestling practices in a 3,600 square foot mat room on the top floor of the Mauer Center while home meets are held in Alumni Gym, which seats 1,650. In 2013, Rider left the CAA as an associate member shortly after the CAA announced that it would no longer sponsor wrestling and joined the Eastern Wrestling League. Rider Broncs Wrestling has gained national recognition by longtime head coach Gary Taylor.

The Rutgers Scarlet Knights wrestling team represents Rutgers University of New Brunswick, New Jersey. The squad is coached by Scott Goodale. Goodale is a graduate 1995 of Lock Haven University. He came to Rutgers from the high school ranks. Previously he coached Jackson Memorial High School in Jackson, New Jersey where he coached four state champions.

Andy Lausier is in his fourth season as head coach of the Sacred Heart wrestling program. Under his guidance, the Pioneers had their second wrestler in program history place at the 2015 EIWA Championships when Conan Schuster took sixth place in the 174-pound weight class.

Chris Bono has engineered a successful rebuilding process during his tenure as head coach of the South Dakota State University wrestling program. Now in his fourth season, Bono has helped mentor Jackrabbit wrestlers to qualify for the NCAA Championships seven times and has recorded a 22-28 dual record as he leads SDSU into a new era during the 2015-16 season as an affiliate member of the Big 12 Conference.

Jeremy Spates is in his third season as the head coach of the SIUE wrestling program. In his first two seasons, the Cougars have made sizeable strides. During the 2014-15 season, SIUE's Connor McMahon and Jake Tindle each won their respective weight classes at the Southern Conference Championship and advanced to the NCAA Division I Championship in St. Louis.

The Stanford Wrestling team is coached by Jason Borrelli. Borrelli wrestled at Central Michigan University. Currently in his sixth season, Borrelli has compiled a 42-53-3 career record. The Cardinal wrestlers practice in the Weintz Family Wrestling Room, and compete on campus at Burnham Pavilion, with a capacity of about 1,400.

The Citadel Bulldogs wrestling team represents The Citadel of Charleston, South Carolina. The squad is coached by Rob Hjerling who is in his 16th season as head coach of The Citadel's wrestling program. The Bulldogs are members of the Southern Conference and have been conference champions in 1967 and 2004. The Bulldog wrestling team has made 14 NCAA championship team appearances, recently placing the highest in school history at 20th in the final 2013 NCAA Wrestling Team Championship standings.

Ohio State wrestling was established at the University in 1921. Once the coach of Hofstra University for 11 years, currently the Head Coach of the team is Tom Ryan. He has been coaching Ohio State since the 2006-2007 wrestling season. His coaching ability led the Buckeye Wrestling team to 5 NCAA Championship appearances and as the runner-ups twice in the NCAA Championships in 2008 & 2009 in 8 years with the team.

The Buffalo Bulls wrestling team is a varsity intercollegiate athletic team of the University at Buffalo in Amherst, New York, USA. The team is a member of the Mid-American Conference (MAC), which is part of the National Collegiate Athletic Association's Division I. The team plays their home matches at Alumni Arena in Amherst, New York. The Bulls are coached by John Stutzman. Former Bull Wrestler Desmond Green was a MAC Champion and 3-time Division 1 NCAA Qualifier and is currently a Mixed Martial Artist fighting for Bellator.

Under the tutleage of then head coach Mark Johnson, the University of Illinois Wrestling Team became one of the nation's top wrestling programs. Since 1990 there have been seven individual NCAA champions. There have also been thirty nine all-Americans. As a team the University of Illinois Wrestling Team has finished in the top twelve at the NCAA Championships for the last 12 seasons. They also won the Big Ten Championship in 2005 for the first time in fifty three years.

The University of Iowa wrestling program is one of the most successful athletic programs in NCAA Division I. The University of Iowa Hawkeyes are a member of the Big Ten Conference. Iowa is second in NCAA history with 23 national championships, all of which have come since 1975. Sports Illustrated recently named the Iowa program one of the top sports dynasties of the 20th century.

Prior to joining the Big Ten in 2014, the Terrapins wrestling team won more ACC team championships than any other school in the conference, winning their 24th ACC title in 2012. The 2012 ACC championship is the Terps' fourth in the past five years. Maryland has finished in the top 20 at the NCAA Championships each year since the 2010 season and produced multiple all Americans since 2009, a school record. There have been six head coaches in Maryland's history, currently led by two-time NCAA champion and two-time Olympian Kerry McCoy now in his fourth year as head coach.

Wrestling has been a varsity sport at Michigan since 1921. The Wolverines have finished in the Top 5 in the NCAA tournament 16 times. Home dual meets and tournaments take place at Cliff Keen Arena, dedicated and named after longtime wrestling coach Cliff Keen, who coached the team from 1925 until 1970 and led the Wolverines Wrestling team to 13 Big Ten Conference championships. The Michigan wrestling team has produced 175 individual NCAA All-Americans dating back to 1928, has 22 individual NCAA Championships for the university, and received 2 winners of the NCAA Most Outstanding Wrestler Award (1940, 1978).

The Minnesota Golden Gophers are a Division I college wrestling team based in Minneapolis, Minnesota. They are a member of the Big Ten Conference and NCAA. Wrestling began at the University of Minnesota in 1910, but the first formal dual meet was not until 1921 when coach Frank Gilman led the team to a victory over Wisconsin. The Gophers have won the NCAA wrestling team championship three times, in 2001, 2002, and 2007. WWE wrestler Brock Lesnar won the 2000 NCAA Wrestling Championship as a heavyweight after placing second in 1999.

Hearnes Center is home to the Missouri Tigers' nationally ranked wrestling program. For 16 years Brian Smith has been the University's head wrestling coach. Since 1998, Smith has received honors for his coaching accomplishments at the University of Missouri: Dan Gable Coach of the Year (2007), NWCA President (2010-12), Big 12 Coach of the Year (2012). Ben Askren is among the few from the University's wrestling program to make the transition to Mixed Martial Arts. Ben Askren is a 4-time All-American wrestler (2004-2007), 2-time NCAA Division I Collegiate National Runner-up (2004, 2005), 2-time NCAA Division I Collegiate National Champion (2006, 2007), and 2-time Dan Hodge Trophy Collegiate Wrestler of the Year (2006, 2007). He has been inducted into the University of Missouri Intercollegiate Athletics Hall of Fame (2012).

The Nebraska Cornhuskers (often abbreviated to Huskers) is the name given to the intercollegiate athletic teams of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. The university is a member of the Big Ten Conference and the Cornhuskers compete in NCAA Division I, fielding 22 varsity teams in 15 sports.

Bill Lam coached the program for 30 years until C.D. Mock replaced him in 2002. Mock achieved two ACC Coach of the Year (2005, 2006) & two ACC Champions (2005, 2006) awards. Though UNC is more known for basketball, the Tar Heel wrestling program has 5 individual NCAA champions: Mock, T.J. Jaworsky, who won 3 back-to-back NCAA title in the 134-pound weight class in 1993-1995, & 1988 NCAA Champion Rob Koll.

Troy Nickerson begins his second year at Northern Colorado Wrestling after joining the program as the seventh head coach in the program's 35 year history in 2014-15. Nickerson takes on his first head coaching stint after serving two seasons as an assistant coach at Iowa State under Kevin Jackson.

The University of Northern Iowa Wrestling team, founded in 1923, won the NCAA (Single division) national championship in 1950 and the NCAA Division II national championships in 1975 and 1978. They competed in the Western Wrestling Conference until 2012, when UNI became an associate member of the Mid-American Conference since the MVC is a non-wrestling conference.

The Penn State Nittany Lions wrestling team is a NCAA Division I Wrestling team. Coached by former Olympian Cael Sanderson, the Nittany Lions have maintained status as a top wrestling program.

Pittsburgh Panthers wrestling is the NCAA Division I intercollegiate wrestling program of the University of Pittsburgh, often referred to as "Pitt", located in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Coming off his second ACC Championship season, former Cavalier All-American Steve Garland is serving in his 10th season as head wrestling coach at Virginia. A master motivator, recruiter and coach, Garland has worked diligently to push the Cavaliers among the nation's elite.

Barry Davis begins his 22nd season officially at the helm of the Wisconsin wrestling program, but enters his 23rd season as part of the Wisconsin wrestling program after serving as interim head coach during the 1993-94 season. Davis has an overall dual record of 216-154-11.

The Wyoming Cowboy wrestling team competes in the Big 12 Conference, as the Mountain West does not sponsor the sport. From 2006 through 2015, the Cowboys competed in the Western Wrestling Conference, but that league chose to disband at the end of the 2014-15 school year when all of its members accepted wrestling-only membership in the Big 12. In his 6th year at the helm, it's safe to say that Mark Branch has made his mark in the Wyoming Wrestling history books as one of the most successful coaches in program history.

The Falcon wrestling team began competition in 1957 and currently competes in the Big 12 Conference (the Mountain West doesn't sponsor wrestling). From 2006 to 2015, the Falcons had been a member of the Western Wrestling Conference (WWC), but the conference chose to disband after the 2014-15 school year when all of its members accepted an offer of single-sport membership in the Big 12. Home wrestling events are held at either the Cadet East Gym or at Clune Arena. The team is currently coached by former Olympian Joel Sharratt in his eighth season, and former national champion for the University of Iowa, under the tutelage of legendary coach Dan Gable.

The Army Black Knights Wrestling team host home dual meets, tournaments, workout, and practice in the state of the art facility Arvin Gymnasium on campus. The team currently competes in the Eastern Intercollegiate Wrestling Association (EIWA) since Army is a member of the non-wrestling Patriot League. In 2014, Kevin Ward, a former Oklahoma State All-American, took over the program. Ward is best known for starting the Ouachita Baptist University wrestling program in 2010, the first NCAA wrestling program in Arkansas.

The Navy Midshipmen Wrestling team is coached by Navy '97 Alum Brian Antonelli. The wrestling team at the United States Naval Academy have competed beginning since 1920 and have been competing for the NCAA Championships starting in the 1931 season. The team has placed as high as 5th at the NCAA Championships back in 1942 and most recently 18th both in 2007 & 2008. With 44 wrestlers placing 61 times as All-Americans at the NCAA Division I Championships and 6 overall four-time All-Americans throughout its time.

Entering his 10th year of coaching at the helm of Utah Valley University wrestling, head coach Greg Williams has guided his Wolverines from a Division I Independent to a member of the Big 12 Conference during his tenure. Williams has also sent at least one Wolverine grappler to the NCAA Championships in each of the past six seasons. In 2011, he coached UVU's first-ever wrestling All-American in 125-pounder Benjamin Kjar (placed fourth) and also took a program best four NCAA qualifiers in 2014.

The VMI Keydets wrestling team began in 1921 and represents the Virginia Military Institute of Lexington, Virginia as a Member of the Southern Conference of NCAA Division I wrestling. The squad is coached by Chris Skretkowicz.

Virginia Tech Hokie Wrestling has a history dating back to the 1920-1921 season. The team had its highest NCAA Championship team standing in 2014 with an 8th overall finish led by 2014 NCAA 141 lbs. finalist and team captain Devin Carter. Carter was the Hokies' first finalist in team history, despite a torn hamstring that put him on the sidelines from December to the ACC Championships. Since 2006 Hokie Wrestling has been coached by, 1986 Hawkeye NCAA National Champion, Kevin Dresser who has led the team to a second straight ACC title in 2014.

Prior to joining the Big 12, West Virginia wrestled as a member of the Eastern Wrestling League as the Big East was a non-wrestling conference.
