The Pinta Island Tortoise, Chelonoidis nigra abingdoni, was also called the Pinta Giant Tortoise or Abingdon Island Tortoise. They were a subspecies of Galapagos tortoise, primarily wiped out in the wild by the mid 19th century; the last surviving member, Lonesome George, died in June 2012.
