The Northeastern Women's Soccer team began at the University as a varsity sport in 1996 under the direction of Julia Claudio and began competing in the America East Conference the following year. The team joined the Colonial Athletic Association in 2005 and won the conference championship in 2008 before advancing to the second round of the NCAA tournament that same year.
The women's soccer team quickly earned the school's first ever NCAA Division I tournament berth by winning the Big South tournament in the fall of 1999.
The William & Mary Tribe women's soccer team represents the College of William & Mary in NCAA Division I college soccer. The team belongs to the Colonial Athletic Association and plays home games at Albert-Daly Field. The Tribe are currently led by John Daly, who has coached since 1986.
