Entering 2015, her 12th season at Rice, Genny Volpe has established the Owl volleyball program as a power in the Southwest. The Owls, with Volpe as head coach, have now been to three NCAA championships (2004, 2008, and 2009), the only three appearances in Rice's history.

The Marshall University volleyball team has been nothing short of spectacular since the arrival of head coach Mitch Jacobs in 2002. Charlotte
Weatherington just completed her first season at the helm of Charlotte Volleyball picking up her first win in convincing fashion during a 3-0 sweep of crosstown rival Davidson on August 28th. Her first victory in Conference USA play also came in the opener taking a 3-1 decision over UTEP at home on September 21st.

Entering her third season at UTEP, Holly Watts brings 20 years of Division I coaching experience, including lengthy stints at Arkansas (1996-2008) and Florida State (2008-13), where she worked with head coach Chris Poole. Together Poole and Watts were instrumental in producing thirteen 20-win seasons in 17 years, with 13 NCAA Tournament appearances during that span.

Diane Turnham, the associate athletic director and senior women's administrator, is in her 34th year with the Blue Raiders. Voted Middle Tennessee's employee of the year for 2001-02, Turnham has served two stints as the department's interim athletic director and was elected into the Blue Raider Hall of Fame in 2012.

FIU's indoor and sand volleyball teams are both under the helm of Rita Buck-Crockett. The indoor volleyball was established in 1974, while in 2013 the sand volleyball team is the newest sport for the athletic program. The indoor squad plays their matches at FIU Arena and the sand squad plays primarily on sand courts on FIU's main campus.
