American Hockey League

The Bridgeport Sound Tigers are a professional ice hockey team playing in the American Hockey League. It has been the AHL affiliate of the National Hockey League's New York Islanders, who also own the franchise, since its inception, and use the same team colors as the parent Islanders do. The team is based in Bridgeport, Connecticut and play their home games at the Webster Bank Arena. The "Sound" in the team name is a reference to the Long Island Sound to the south of Bridgeport.

The Hartford Wolf Pack is a professional ice hockey team based in Hartford, Connecticut. A member of the American Hockey League (AHL), they play their home games at the XL Center. The team was established in 1926 as the Providence Reds. After a series of relocations, the team moved to Hartford in 1997 as the Hartford Wolf Pack. It is one of the oldest professional hockey franchises extant, and the oldest continuously operating minor-league franchise in North America.

The Hershey Bears are an American professional ice hockey team based in Hershey, Pennsylvania. They have played in the American Hockey League since its first season as a fully merged league in 1938, and are the longest continuously operating member of the league. The team is owned and operated by the Hershey Bears Hockey Club which was established in 1932 and is currently the oldest professional ice hockey organization in North America outside of those operating the "Original Six" clubs of the National Hockey League in Montreal, Toronto, Boston, New York, Chicago, and Detroit, which were all established in or before 1926.

The Lehigh Valley Phantoms are a professional ice hockey team in the American Hockey League (AHL), whose inaugural season started in the 2014-15 AHL season when the Adirondack Phantoms moved from Glens Falls, New York to Allentown, Pennsylvania. The team plays in Allentown's new PPL Center. The Phantoms, who began play as the Philadelphia Phantoms, have been the top minor league affiliate for the NHL's Philadelphia Flyers since the 1996-97 season. The purple used since the team's inception was replaced by electric blue when the team relocated to the Lehigh Valley.

The Portland Pirates are a minor professional ice hockey team in the American Hockey League. They are the top affiliate of the Florida Panthers of the National Hockey League. Their home arena is the Cross Insurance Arena in downtown Portland, Maine. The franchise was previously known as the Baltimore Skipjacks from 1982 to 1993. Previously, the Pirates were affiliated with the Washington Capitals (1993-2005), the Anaheim Ducks (2005-2008), the Buffalo Sabres (2008-2011) and the Arizona Coyotes (2011-2015).

The Providence Bruins are an ice hockey team in the American Hockey League, and are the primary development team for the NHL's Boston Bruins. They play in Providence, Rhode Island at the Dunkin' Donuts Center.

The Springfield Falcons are an ice hockey team in the American Hockey League (AHL). They play in Springfield, Massachusetts, at the MassMutual Center and are the top affiliate of the Arizona Coyotes of the National Hockey League. The Falcons' two main rivals are the Hartford Wolf Pack and the Providence Bruins.

The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins are the American Hockey League affiliate of the National Hockey League's Pittsburgh Penguins. They play in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania at the Mohegan Sun Arena at Casey Plaza. They were the 2011 winners of the East Division and the Eastern Conference (in terms of regular season titles), winning their first Macgregor Kilpatrick Trophy. The Penguins serve as a professional hockey team to the people of Scranton, Pennsylvania and Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. The Penguins are located in the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre metropolitan area.

The Albany Devils are a professional ice hockey team in the American Hockey League (AHL). The top AHL affiliate of the National Hockey League (NHL)'s New Jersey Devils, the team has as its home the Times Union Center in Albany, New York. This is the second time the New Jersey Devils have been affiliated with an Albany-based AHL team; from 1993 to 2006, the Devils used the Albany River Rats as their top minor league team. Unlike the River Rats, the Devils own their Albany affiliate outright.

The Binghamton Senators are a professional ice hockey team in the American Hockey League (AHL). Nicknamed the B-Sens, they play in Binghamton, New York, at the Floyd L. Maines Veterans Memorial Arena. The B-Sens are minor league affiliates of the Ottawa Senators of the NHL and Evansville IceMen of the ECHL.

The Rochester Americans (colloquially the Amerks) are a professional ice hockey team in the American Hockey League; the team is an owned-and operated affiliate of the Buffalo Sabres. The team plays its home games in Rochester, New York, at the Blue Cross Arena at the War Memorial. The Americans are the fourth-oldest franchise in the AHL, celebrating their 60th anniversary in 2015-16.

The St. John's IceCaps are a professional ice hockey team based in St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada. They are members of the North Division of the Eastern Conference of the American Hockey League (AHL). The team was originally affiliated with the second incarnation of the Winnipeg Jets from 2011 to 2015. However, beginning in the 2015-16 AHL season, they became the top affiliate of the Montreal Canadiens of the National Hockey League (NHL) after the Jets relocated their franchise back to Manitoba and the Canadiens moved the former Hamilton Bulldogs franchise to St. John's. The IceCaps are also affiliated with the Brampton Beast of the ECHL.

The Syracuse Crunch are a professional ice hockey team in the American Hockey League (AHL). They play in Syracuse, New York, at the War Memorial at Oncenter. They are the primary development affiliate of the National Hockey League's Tampa Bay Lightning.

The Toronto Marlies are a Canadian professional ice hockey team currently playing in the American Hockey League (AHL). The top affiliate of the National Hockey League (NHL)'s Toronto Maple Leafs, the Marlies play at Ricoh Coliseum in Toronto, Ontario.

The Utica Comets are a professional ice hockey team based in Utica, New York. They are members of the North Division, of the Eastern Conference of the American Hockey League (AHL). Beginning play in the 2013-14 season, the team plays at the Utica Memorial Auditorium, as the AHL affiliate of the National Hockey League's Vancouver Canucks. The Comets are the second AHL team to call Utica home; the Utica Devils played in the city from 1987 until 1993 and were affiliated with the New Jersey Devils.

The Charlotte Checkers are a minor-league professional ice hockey team based in Charlotte, North Carolina. They are members of the Central Division of the Western Conference of the American Hockey League (AHL), and are the AHL affiliate of the Carolina Hurricanes of the National Hockey League (NHL). The Checkers play their home games at Time Warner Cable Arena in Uptown Charlotte, also home to the NBA's Charlotte Hornets, but starting this 2015-16 AHL season they will move to Bojangles' Coliseum.

The Chicago Wolves are a professional ice hockey team playing in the Central Division of the Western Conference of the American Hockey League. The Wolves play home games at the Allstate Arena in the Chicago suburb of Rosemont, Illinois and are owned by Chicago business owners Don Levin and Buddy Meyers. They are the minor league affiliate of the St. Louis Blues.

The Grand Rapids Griffins are a professional hockey team in the American Hockey League (AHL). They play in Grand Rapids, Michigan at Van Andel Arena. They are the AHL affiliate to the Detroit Red Wings of the National Hockey League, and are the 2013 Calder Cup Champions.

The Iowa Wild is an ice hockey team in the American Hockey League, that began play for the 2013-14 season. The team plays at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines, Iowa, as the AHL affiliate of the NHL's Minnesota Wild. On November 10, after a 2-10 start to the season, head coach Kurt Kleinendorst was fired and replaced by John Torchetti.

The Lake Erie Monsters are a professional ice hockey team in the American Hockey League (AHL) that began play in 2007. The Monsters play all of their home games at Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland, Ohio, United States, which they share with the Cleveland Cavaliers of the National Basketball Association (NBA) and the Cleveland Gladiators of the Arena Football League. They are the AHL affiliate for the Columbus Blue Jackets of the National Hockey League (NHL).

The Manitoba Moose are a Canadian professional ice hockey team based in Winnipeg, Manitoba that plays in the American Hockey League (AHL). The team plays its home games at the MTS Centre, the home arena of its parent club, the National Hockey League's Winnipeg Jets.

The Milwaukee Admirals are a professional ice hockey team in the American Hockey League. They play in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA at the BMO Harris Bradley Center. They have been affiliated with the NHL's Nashville Predators since that team's founding in 1998.

The Rockford IceHogs are a professional ice hockey team based in Rockford, Illinois. They are members of the American Hockey League (AHL), having begun play in the League starting in the 2007-08 season. The team plays their home games at the BMO Harris Bank Center, and they serve as the top minor league affiliate of the National Hockey League (NHL)'s Chicago Blackhawks.

The Bakersfield Condors are a professional ice hockey team in the American Hockey League (AHL) based in Bakersfield, California. The team is owned and affiliated with the National Hockey League's Edmonton Oilers. The Condors play their home games at Rabobank Arena. The AHL franchise is a relocation of the Oklahoma City Barons, which joined four other AHL franchises as the basis to form a new Pacific Division in California.

The Ontario Reign are a professional ice hockey team in the American Hockey League (AHL) which began play in the 2015-16 season. Based in Ontario, California and affiliated with the National Hockey League's Los Angeles Kings, the team plays its home games at the Citizens Business Bank Arena. It is a relocation of the former Manchester Monarchs AHL franchise, joining several other AHL franchises to form a new AHL Pacific Division.

The San Antonio Rampage are an ice hockey team in the American Hockey League based in San Antonio, Texas. They are currently the top affiliate of the Colorado Avalanche of the NHL after signing a 5-year affiliation deal prior to the 2015-16 season. The Rampage are owned by the San Antonio Spurs of the NBA, who purchased a dormant AHL franchise with the NHL's Florida Panthers and moved it to San Antonio. The Rampage play in the AT&T Center in San Antonio, the same arena as the Spurs.

The San Diego Gulls are a professional ice hockey team in the American Hockey League (AHL) which began playing in the 2015-16 season. Based in San Diego, California and affiliated with the National Hockey League's Anaheim Ducks, the Gulls play their home games at the Valley View Casino Center. The team is the fifth hockey team in San Diego to use the Gulls name. The Gulls are a relocation of the former Norfolk Admirals (AHL) franchise, joining six other AHL franchises to form a new AHL Pacific Division.

The San Jose Barracuda are a professional ice hockey team in the American Hockey League (AHL) which began play in the 2015-16 season. Affiliated with the National Hockey League's San Jose Sharks, the Barracuda share the SAP Center at San Jose with its parent club.

The Stockton Heat are a professional ice hockey team in the American Hockey League (AHL) which began play in the 2015-16 season. Based in Stockton, California, and affiliated with the National Hockey League (NHL) Calgary Flames. The Heat plays its home games at Stockton Arena. It is a relocation of the Adirondack Flames joining several other AHL franchises to form a new AHL Pacific Division in California.

The Texas Stars are an American Hockey League team. They play in Cedar Park, Texas, near Austin. They are owned by the NHL's Dallas Stars, and are that team's top affiliate.
