The film was critically lauded, and was the first musical to win Best Picture since Oliver! in 1969.

The film is a combination of whodunit, thriller and science fiction. It is also a traditional chase film, as the main protagonist is accused of a crime he has not committed and becomes a fugitive.

Die Another Day (2002) is the twentieth spy film in the James Bond series, and the fourth and last film to star Pierce Brosnan as the fictional MI6 agent James Bond. More than a year later Bond is released as part of a prisoner exchange.
