Unlike the majority of CCG's we've seen the last year or so, PK Cards targets experienced gamers rather than newcomers: the rules and gameplay manage to be both more and less complex then Magic: the Gathering".In a very competitive CCG market, PK can be found in card, hobby and gaming shops around the country. PKXL also hit the convention circuit hard, highlighted by its appearance at Gen Con.PKXL is unique in this industry in that they maintain their own print facility along with their development and marketing. Magic: The Gathering - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Magic: The Gathering (MTG; also known as Magic) is a trading card game created by Richard Garfield.First published in 1993 by Wizards of the Coast, Magic was the first trading card game produced and it continues to thrive, with approximately twenty million players as of 2015.[1][2][3] Magic can be played by two or more players in various formats, the most common of which uses a deck of 60+ cards, either in person with printed cards or through the Internet-based Magic: The Gathering Online, on a smartphone or tablet, or other programs, using a deck of virtual cards. Each game represents a battle between wizards known as "planeswalkers", who employ spells, artifacts, and creatures depicted on individual Magic cards to defeat their opponents. Although the original concept of the game drew heavily from the motifs of traditional fantasy role-playing games such as Dungeons & Dragons, the gameplay of Magic bears little similarity to pencil-and-paper adventure games, while having substantially more cards and more complex rules than many other card games. An organized tournament system and a community of professional Magic players has developed, as has a secondary market for Magic cards. Magic cards can be valuable due to their rarity and utility in gameplay. Often the prices of a single card can be anywhere from a few cents to a few hundred dollars, and in some instances thousands of dollars.

Magi-Nation Duel - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Magi-Nation Duel, sometimes abbreviated "MND" or simply Magi-Nation, is a collectible card game (CCG) published by Interactive Imagination Corp (2i). It was previewed at Gen Con 2000 and was released in October 2000. Lead Designer and Co-Founder of 2i Phillip Tavel created a game with mechanics which resembled and were partially based on Magic: The Gathering, while much of the flavor of the game was based on the anime-style artwork of Matt Holmberg. Greg Richardson Von Oy (the other original Co-Founder of 2i) and Josh Lytle (a former professional gamer) helped to playtest and finalize the original design of the game. Several manga-style American artists led by Art Director: Thomas Cook include Matt Holmberg, Rich Werner (Main character designer for Kybar's Teeth, Weave, Paradwyn, Bograth, Nar and The Sands of Dresh), Tim Gillette, Chana Goodman, and Ryan Shreve helped to expand the universe of art based on the original creations of Matt Holmberg. The game was originally designed as a bridge between Pokémon and Magic: The Gathering or Yu-Gi-Oh! the classic trading card game. The idea was that younger players whose first game was Pokémon would eventually seek out a new game to play and that Magic: The Gathering might be too complex for some players, leaving a void in the market between the two massively popular card games[citation needed]. The game is now out of print. A new version of the game, licensed by Cookie Jar tm, was to be released in 2008,[1][2] but no relaunch ever surfaced. The game had an active following which later released a number of cards 2i had in development, as well as a number of fan cards. These cards were previously found at CCGWorkshop, however as of January 2008, they no longer available as 2i had requested their removal[citation needed].

Legend of the Five Rings (collectible card game) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Legend of the Five Rings (L5R) is a collectible card game created by Alderac Entertainment Group in 1995. L5R takes place in the fictional empire of Rokugan from the Legend of the Five Rings setting, where several clans and factions vie for domination over the empire. The card game shares some similarities with Magic: The Gathering but has its own game mechanics and flavor, providing "passive" win conditions like the Enlightenment Victory, as well as a version of Magic's goal of destroying the opponent. Games can be very long, with some matches lasting hours.A major distinctive feature of the game is the importance of the storyline: new fiction pieces advancing the story of Rokugan are published on a weekly basis, in addition to being released with every expansion, and in a quarterly publication, the Imperial Herald. Many of these stories reflect the result of tournaments, where players use their decks to determine which faction will claim a particular prize within the storyline. Two novel lines, covering the Clan War and Four Winds arcs, have been published.Legend of the Five Rings has garnered many accolades throughout the years, including several Origins awards (such as the most recent 2008 award for best CCG with Samurai Edition) and the 2008 Scrye Players Choice Best CCG Award for Samurai Edition.

Legend of the Burning Sands - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Legend of the Burning Sands (LBS) is a collectible card game (CCG) published by Five Rings Publishing Group (FRPG, then a subsidiary of Wizards of the Coast) in 1998. It was a spin-off from the earlier CCG Legend of the Five Rings. Legend of the Burning Sands was set in the same fictional world as Legend of the Five Rings, but with an Arabian setting rather than an Oriental one, with a few characters appearing in both games. Both games had similar mechanics and emphasized a continuing storyline. The first three Legend of the Burning Sands sets were released under FRPG's experimental Rolling Thunder system, which emphasized small, regular releases of cards. The Rolling Thunder distribution mechanism proved to be unpopular, however, so the game was put on hiatus. After six months, the game's massive conclusion set, The Awakening, was released, but interest in the game had already faded significantly. Sales were poor, and most of the stock was destroyed rather than being warehoused. Today, cards from The Awakening are in high demand from collectors.[citation needed]Much like Legend of the Five Rings, LBS included many factions, especially towards the end of the game, where 12 different groups existed: The Ashalan, Ivory Kingdoms, Assassins, Ra'Shari, Senpet, Yodatai, Celestial Alliance, Jackals, Ebonites, Moto, Dahab and Qabal.

Vampire: The Eternal Struggle - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Vampire: The Eternal Struggle, published as Jyhad in the first or "Limited" edition and often abbreviated as VTES, V:TES or V:tES, is a multiplayer collectible card game set in the World of Darkness. It was published by White Wolf Publishing. The game was designed in 1994 by Richard Garfield and initially published by Wizards of the Coast and was the third CCG ever created.[1][2] As Garfield's first follow-up to his popular Magic: The Gathering collectible card game, he was eager to prove that the genre was "a form of game as potentially diverse as board games"[3] In 1995 the game was renamed from Jyhad to Vampire: The Eternal Struggle to increase its appeal and distance itself from the Islamic term jihad.[4] After the 1996 Sabbat expansion, Wizards of the Coast abandoned the game, and in 2000 White Wolf took over development. Alongside Magic: The Gathering it is one of the oldest collectible card games.White Wolf announced that Vampire: The Eternal Struggle would cease production on the 10th of September, 2010.[5]Richard Garfield noted that the experiences he had made with the Magic: The Gathering collectible card game had helped him to improve his design of the game. In an interview with Robert Goudie, Garfield particularly notes dedicated multi-player (3+) rules, a lack of "land cards", and a more rapid card drawing mechanism (cards normally being replaced instantly after being played).[3]

Doomtown - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Doomtown (originally Deadlands:Doomtown) is a collectible card game, a companion to the Deadlands roleplaying setting. The game sets itself apart from other CCGs by having each card also serve as a playing card and resolving certain in-game situations with a hand of poker, thus accentuating the Old West atmosphere of the game. The game involves complex deck construction and deep strategies, and was designed with multiplayer (three or more players) in mind. The sheer amount of card draw in the game makes luck much less of a factor, while the movement rules (in the style of board games such as chess) reward intelligent strategy.Doomtown was heavily story-driven as well, with a detailed and intriguing storyline that affected cards and play styles. An example was the Fear Level that changed with each expansion and improved or disrupted play styles. Doomtown also held storyline tournaments in which players could directly influence the storyline. For instance, in the finals of a major storyline tournament, Sheriff Coleman was killed by a Sweetrock hired gunman; the sheriff was subsequently killed in the storyline, resulting in new events and action cards, and a later experienced version was Harrowed (revived as living dead) to avenge his own death.Discontinued in 2000, a flier from the 2014 GAMA Trade Show revealed that Doomtown: Reloaded would be released in August 2014.[1] This new version of the game is sold in the non-collectible "living card game" format

BattleTech Collectible Card Game - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The BattleTech Collectible Card Game is a collectible card game set in the BattleTech universe developed by Wizards of the Coast (WotC) for FASA using a similar style of gameplay and card distribution as WotC's Magic: The Gathering. It was designed by Richard Garfield. Its production ran from 1996 through 2001. The BattleTech CCG featured BattleMechs, characters, and technology from the original board game, with new artwork done by various artists. Currently, the BattleTech CCG is no longer in print. The goal of the game is to make your opponent run out of cards from his or her stockpile (deck of cards). The one without any cards left, loses the game. The most basic way of achieving this, is to attack your enemy's stockpile with mechs and other units. Each player will need a deck with a maximum of 60 cards. Those decks can consist of any combination of cards the player desires, although when playing with official FASA rules, choosing cards for your deck will be limited, e.g. only cards from one faction/clan. The right assortment of cards can prove vital to victory and is mostly linked to certain tactics.

If a player is unable to control a character properly, it may turn on them. The Aquarian Age franchise now supports a PlayStation game, a comic book, and a TV series; Aquarian Age: Sign for Evolution featuring a musical score by composer Yuki Kajiura.
