Depression is the most common mental illness, affecting over 15 million Americans. Major depressive disorder is different from other bouts of depression in its severity and duration. Symptoms of depression include loss of enjoyment in previously fun activities; pulling away from friends and family; suicidal ideation; numbing of emotions.
