The North, Central America and Caribbean Volleyball Confederation (NORCECA) is an incorporated, non-profit organization responsible for all volleyball activities that take place in its zone. NORCECA is the continental confederation that represents its thirty-five (35) member countries at the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) level and also has 7 associate members (Bonaire, Curaçao, Saba, Saint Martin, Sint Eustatius, Sint Maarten, Turks & Caicos Islands).

Cuba women's national volleyball team was the first team to break the USSR's and Japan's domination in the world women's volleyball by winning the 1978 World Women's Volleyball Championship. The Cuba men's national volleyball team is the national team of Cuba. Cuba in the 1976 Summer Olympics won the Silver medal. Other achievements of the team winning one World League, one World Grand Champions Cup and fifteen NORCECA Championship.

The Dominican Republic women's national volleyball team represents the Dominican Republic in international volleyball competitions. Its biggest win came in 2003, when the squad surprisingly won the 2003 Pan American Games on home soil. The Dominican Republic men's national volleyball team represents the Dominican Republic in international volleyball competitions. In the 1950s the squad twice ended up in fourth place at the Pan American Games (1955 and 1959). The dominant forces in men's volleyball in North and Central America are Cuba and the United States.

Puerto Rico
The Puerto Rico women's national volleyball team represents the Puerto Rico in international volleyball competitions. One of the more consistent teams of the NORCECA zone, Puerto Rico has taken one silver and two bronzes on the NORCECA Volleyball Championship, two bronzes at the Pan-American Cup, and five silvers and one bronze at the Central American and Caribbean Games. The Puerto Rico men's national volleyball team represents Puerto Rico in international volleyball competitions and friendly matches. In 2007 the squad won the silver medal at the NORCECA Volleyball Championship after defeating Cuba in the semi-finals. With that performance Puerto Rico for the first time qualified for the Volleyball World Cup, later that year in Japan.
