The Sydney University American Football Club is the premiere American Football Club in Australia. Founded in 1984, the club has a long history of winning championships, developing players for state and national team selection and teaching anyone with a passion for contact sport how to play the most amazing game on the planet.

American football in New Zealand is overseen regionally by three and soon to be four regional bodies which report directly to the NZAFF. These bodies are American Football Auckland (AFA), American Football Wellington (AFW) both based in the North Island, and the recently accepted American Football Canterbury (AFC), which is based in Christchurch on the east coast of the South Island.

2015 - Brought to you by The Douglas Webber Group the Southern Bowl 2016 is the first American Football exhibition tour to ever hit the Southern Hemisphere and March 2016 will see New Zealand's largest venues Eden Park and Westpac Stadium host American Football in a Battle of the States showdown.

Gridiron Australia is the governing body of American football (gridiron) in Australia. It is an approved sporting association under federal government regulations and is a member of the International Federation of American Football (IFAF). The organisation was formed in 1996.

American football, known locally as "gridiron", is a participation and spectator sport in Australia. The sport is governed by Gridiron Australia, a member of the International Federation of American Football (IFAF). The sport has been played in six Australian states and territories across the country since World War II, but has only had regular league play since 1983. There is no uniform gridiron season in Australia. The various state and territory bodies play at different times of the year. There are currently 73 junior and senior teams playing gridiron in Australia.
