Jim Foster was named the fifth varsity women's basketball coach for the University of Tennessee at Chattanoga on May 9, 2013. Shortly after taking the job, Foster was inducted into the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame.

ETSU has also had success with their women's basketball program going to the NCAA Women's Division I Basketball Championships in 2008, 2009, and 2010. Besides appearing in the NCAA Women's Division I Basketball Championship three times, they have also appeared Women's National Invitation Tournament three times with their most recent appearance coming in 2015. Overall the women's program has 543-597 record.

It didn't take long for Jackie Carson and her staff to put their collective stamp on Furman women's basketball. In fact, it took less than a season. Now five years in, the template, molded by strong recruiting, commitment to overall excellence, and a renewed work ethic and sense of pride fired by improved mental and physical toughness, has reaped major returns as evidenced in the Paladins' back-to-back winning campaigns and consecutive post-season tournament appearances.

Mercer University named veteran NCAA Division I coach Susie Gardner as the school's 10th women's basketball head coach on June 24, 2010. With over 200 Division I wins to her resume, Coach Gardner has transformed Mercer into one of the premier mid-major programs in the southeast.

Since taking over as the second head coach of Samford women's basketball in 2002, Mike Morris has taken the program to new heights.

Wendy Palmer, an 11-year WNBA veteran and former All-American at Virginia under Women's Basketball Hall of Fame coach Debbie Ryan, is set to begin her fourth season at the helm of the UNCG women's basketball program. Palmer, who was named head coach on April 19, 2011, replaced longtime UNCG coach Lynne Agee, who retired in March 2011 after 30 years at the helm for the Spartans.

Stephanie McCormick became the 11th Head Coach for Western Carolina women's basketball April 17, 2015. McCormick has served at five different institutions during her career including two stints as an assistant at Western Carolina.

Edgar I. Farmer, Jr., is entering his 12th season at the helm of the Wofford women's basketball program, and his 14th season on the staff overall.
