Presidential Libraries

In the United States, the presidential library system is a nationwide network of 13 libraries administered by the Office of Presidential Libraries, which is part of the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA).

The George W. Bush Presidential Library and Museum is the 13th Presidential Library administered by the National Archives and Records Administration.

The permanent exhibits are the core of the Museum's program. They allow visitors to participate in history, not just view it, while reviewing the highlights of the lives of President and Mrs. Ford. In addition to the permanent exhibits, a succession of temporary exhibits draw upon the rich holdings of the entire Presidential libraries system, the Smithsonian Institution, the National Archives, and others.

Located in Atlanta, Georgia, the Jimmy Carter Presidential Library and Museum is part of the Presidential Library system administered by the National Archives and Records Administration, a Federal government agency.

Spoken by Lyndon Johnson at the dedication of the LBJ Presidential Library in May 1971, these words capture the 36th President's intent to make all the records of his administration available to all Americans - and to let them render their own verdict as to his place in history.
