Zeke /ˈziːk/ is an American hardcore punk band from Seattle, Washington formed in 1992. They are known for their extremely fast, energetic guitar sound. Zeke mixes this with strong influences from hard rock, and occasionally blues-rock, and are often compared to Motörhead.

Zegota is an American hardcore punk and post-hardcore band originally from Greensboro, North Carolina, formed in 1997.

Youth Defense League was an Oi!/New York Hardcore (NYHC) band formed in 1986. The band was featured in the Revelation Records compilation album New York City Hardcore, which featured several NYHC bands, including Sick Of It All and Gorilla Biscuits. The group has been accused of racism and possible neo-Nazi sympathies. The band's usage of nationalistic slogans and struggle for the downtrodden white, working-class man has garnered much support from fascist groups worldwide despite the band denying such claims, arguing that they merely promoted an inclusive positive attitude towards America and not fascism.

Youth Brigade is a punk rock band formed in Los Angeles in 1980 by brothers Mark, Adam, and Shawn Stern. The band subsequently founded BYO (Better Youth Organization), which served both as their record label and as a statement of their attitude toward the young people involved in the punk subculture, which was generally sympathetic and arguably less sensationalistic than the view usually presented in the media. Many later punk bands cite Youth Brigade as an influence, including The Nation of Ulysses and The Briefs.

Your Demise were a British hardcore punk band from St Albans, England, formed in 2003. They shared stages and toured worldwide with the likes of Comeback Kid, Enter Shikari, Parkway Drive, A Day to Remember and Bring Me the Horizon. On 22 September 2008, the band confirmed that they had signed a deal with Visible Noise. The band played their final gig at The London Underworld on 15 March 2014, after announcing in 2013 that they would be parting ways in March. A New Farewell was announced on 30 April to mark ten years of the band and there will be a re-release of The Blood Stays on the Blade on vinyl with unreleased B-Sides, as well as a UK tour with founding member George Noble on vocals.

Yacøpsæ is a Grindcore/Hardcore/Powerviolence band from Hamburg, Germany that was founded in 1990.

X-Cops was a side project composed of members from the band Gwar and their extended "family" of musicians. Each member of X-Cops performed in a police uniform and had their own character. They released the album You Have The Right To Remain Silent... on Metal Blade Records in 1995. The album included a cover of Deep Purple's "Highway Star" (with different lyrics, to reflect the theme of the album). In addition, they released a 7" single of the songs "Junkie" (featuring the first released vocal performance of Gwar/X-Cops guitarist Michael Derks) and "Beat You Down" on Man's Ruin Records in 1996.

The Wrangler Brutes were an American hardcore punk band formed in 2003 in Los Angeles, California.

Western Addiction is a punk rock band based in San Francisco. The band was formed by four veterans of the punk scene. Some of the members work for Fat Wreck Chords. They have toured internationally in both the USA and Europe.

A New York hardcore punk band formed on the Lower East Side of Manhattan in 1983. The band helped develop the New York hardcore sound, the hardcore skinhead style and the youth crew subgenre.

The Warriors is an American hardcore punk band originally from Tehachapi, CA. Due to member changes, The Warriors are now primarily based in Oxnard, CA. Their work is heavily influenced by the work of '90s bands such as Rage Against the Machine and Snapcase, a unique sound during a period that had previously been saturated with heavy American metalcore. They followed their debut 7" release with a full-length album titled War Is Hell, through Eulogy Recordings in 2003. In 2005 it was reissued with two extra tracks and computer accessible content titled War Is Hell Redux. In 2006 their second album was released, titled Beyond The Noise. They are now signed on to Victory Records. In 2007 they released their third album Genuine Sense of Outrage.

Void was a Washington D.C.-based hardcore punk/crossover thrash band. They were one of the first hardcore bands popular in the D.C. scene that was from outside the Beltway, hailing from Columbia, Maryland, a suburb located between D.C. and Baltimore.

Vision of Disorder is an American hardcore punk/metalcore band from Long Island that released three albums before disbanding in 2002. The band garnered attention for blending melody and groove into a traditional hardcore framework, but its attempts to pursue a nu metal direction on its third album met with limited commercial success. The band reunited in 2008 and released The Cursed Remain Cursed in 2012.

Verse is an American hardcore punk band from Providence, Rhode Island. They released three full-length albums and an EP on Rivalry and Bridge 9 Records and conducted a number of full U.S. tours.

Verbal Abuse is one of the founding and defining bands of the hardcore punk subgenre of punk rock. The group is originally from Houston, Texas. They later relocated to San Francisco and eventually to Oakland, California.

Vatican Commandos is a hardcore punk band formed in Darien, Connecticut.

Urban Waste (active 1981-84) is a hardcore punk band that was part of the New York renaissance of hardcore punk in the early 1980s. Much more raw, visceral, and overtly confrontational than their New York punk predecessors, they were contemporaries of Reagan Youth (of which bass player Andy Apathy was an early member), the earliest incarnation of the Beastie Boys, and Bad Brains. They belonged to a group of bands coming out of the borough of Queens that included Kraut, Gilligan's Revenge (later called Token Entry), Murphy's Law, and The Mob. The band, like many others of the era, was short-lived, and after the breakup several members went on to form Major Conflict.

Up Front was a hardcore band from New York. They were an influential part of the late 80s New York hardcore and Connecticut Straight Edge scenes. They played many of their early shows at the now famous Anthrax Club in Norwalk, CT. In 1987 they appeared on the X Marks The Spot compilation 7 inch, one of the first documents of the burgeoning Connecticut Straight Edge scene.

Unseen Terror was a British extreme metal band formed by Shane Embury (later of Napalm Death) and Mitch Dickinson (Heresy), and played extreme metal with a technical edge. Their most notable feat took place in March 1988, when they recorded tracks for John Peel's BBC Radio 1 program.

Uniform Choice is an Orange County, California hardcore punk band.

Undertow was a straight edge hardcore punk band from Seattle, Washington, active during the early and mid-1990s. They released material on Indecision Records, Bloodlink Records, Excursion Records and Overkill Records. Indecision Records released a comprehensive discography entitled Everything, which has 28 tracks spanning Undertow's entire active period with John Pettibone on vocals. RegHQ described them as 'founding fathers of Seattle straight edge'.

Ultimatum were an influential hardcore punk band based in Melbourne, Australia formed in 1995. They were the first vegan straight edge band in Australia and appeared around the same time that Earth Crisis released Destroy the Machines. Ultimatum were one of the early Australian bands to introduce the modern 'new school' metal influenced form of hardcore to Australia. They were also recognised, not only for their vegan straight edge stance, but also for their emotional and politically charged lyrics.

Trial is an American political straight edge hardcore punk band based in Seattle, Washington. The band was active from 1995 until 2000. They reunited for three reunion shows in Seattle, London, and Budapest in the fall of 2005, and recently were part of the Burning Fight Book Release show in Chicago IL on May 2 and 3, 2009. They headlined a night at Fluff Fest in the Czech Republic on Saturday, July 25, 2009, and then at Antifest in Stockholm Sweden a week later. Shortly afterwards, bassist Brian Redman was killed in a moped accident. The band took two years off before returning to play Rainfest in Seattle, The Rumble in Chicago, East Coast Tsunami Fest in Pennsylvania, a surprise show in NYC, and Sound and Fury Fest in Santa Barbara CA. They went on tour throughout Europe for thirty shows in the fall of 2011.

Tragedy is an American punk rock band that formed Memphis, Tennessee, in 1995 and is now based out of Portland, Oregon. Tragedy was formed by former members of the influential crust punk band His Hero is Gone.

Toxic Reasons are an American punk rock band, formed in 1979.

Toe to Toe are an Australian hardcore band from Sydney, New South Wales. The band was most prominent in the Australian hardcore scene during the 1990s, touring and recording less frequently by the 2000s. They have been described as "one of the best hardcore outfits ever to grace the planet" by Punknews.org.

This Is Hell are an American hardcore punk band from Long Island, New York. The band is known for extensive touring and high energy concerts. To date, the band has released four studio albums and EPs.

Terveet Kädet are a Finnish hardcore punk band, the first in Finland. The group was founded in Tornio in January 1980. They have had a major influence on bands from all over the world, especially in Brazil (which some have claimed was because of a member from the leading band Olho Seco and his enthusiasm/connections to that country's scene). Max Cavalera of Sepultura and Soulfly has mentioned Terveet Kädet as one of his all-time favourite bands.

Terror is a five-piece American Hardcore band with members from Los Angeles, California and Richmond, Virginia, formed in 2002. They have released six studio albums and a number of other recordings. On January 3, 2015 the band announced on their social network pages that they had begun recording their sixth album, The 25th Hour.

Ten Yard Fight was a straight edge, football-based band formed in 1995 in Boston, Massachusetts. Along with In My Eyes and Floorpunch, they spearheaded the youth crew revival in 1997. Ten Yard Fight's "official" last show was in Boston on October 17, which would become the first National Edge Day. They would later play additional shows with partial lineups.

The Teen Idles were an American hardcore punk band formed in Washington, D.C. in September 1979. Consisting of teenagers Nathan Strejcek, Geordie Grindle, Ian MacKaye and Jeff Nelson, the Idles' recorded two demo sessions and the 1980 Minor Disturbance EP before they broke up in November 1980. The influential independent record label Dischord Records was originally created with the sole purpose of releasing the Teen Idles 7" record. They were an early landmark in the D.C. hardcore movement, and MacKaye and Nelson would later form the seminal punk outfit Minor Threat.

Tales of Terror was a Sacramento hardcore punk band which was active from 1982 until 1986. Some, including Kurt Cobain and Mark Arm, cite Tales of Terror as a key inspiration for the then-burgeoning grunge scene.

T.S.O.L. (True Sounds of Liberty, The Statute of Limitations) is a punk rock band formed in 1978 in Long Beach, California. Although most commonly associated with hardcore punk, T.S.O.L.'s music has varied on each release, including such styles as deathrock, art punk, horror punk and other varieties of punk music.

Traditionally an oath (from Anglo-Saxon āð, also called plight) is either a statement of fact or a promise with wording relating to something considered sacred as a sign of verity. A common legal substitute for those who conscientiously object to making sacred oaths is to give an affirmation instead. Nowadays, even when there's no notion of sanctity involved, certain promises said out loud in ceremonial or juridical purpose are referred to as oaths. To swear is a verb used to describe the taking of an oath, to making a solemn vow.

Sworn Enemy is an American metal band from New York City, United States.

The Suicide File was a short-lived American hardcore band from Boston, Massachusetts that formed in April 2001. The band wrote songs with a mostly political message, although many songs also dealt with social and personal problems. Most of the band's output was released on the Southern California based hardcore label Indecision Records. The band reunited in June 2006 to embark on their first European Tour. Members of the bands are or have been affiliated with The Hope Conspiracy, Death By Stereo, When Tigers Fight, Adamantium, Give Up the Ghost/American Nightmare, Clouds, Panic and many more. Most of these are bands with whom Alexander has drummed for short periods of time. Dave Weinberg was also known for his frequent collaborations and duets with Julie Ecker and James "Boom Boom" Auclair (cf. unpublished correspondence with the artists). Despite their short tenure, The Suicide File continues to be revered within the hardcore punk community for their musical output and lasting impression on the flourishing Boston hardcore scene. The band since 2006 has played a small number of successfully sized reunion sets.

Suicidal Tendencies (or simply Suicidal) is an American crossover thrash band founded in 1981 in Venice, California by vocalist Mike Muir, who is the only remaining original member of the band. The band is often credited (along with D.R.I.) as one of "the fathers of crossover thrash". To date, Suicidal Tendencies have released nine studio albums, one EP, four split albums including the rare Welcome to Venice, six compilation albums (one of which is a "double-EP", while the other is a re-recording of their debut album), and two long-form videos.

Subzero is a New York-based punk metal band that was formed in 1989. The band was created by Rich Kennon of NYHC band Breakdown and Jim Eaton of the New York-based straight edge band Up Front. After hooking up with singer Lou Di Bella and bassist Larry Susi who had played in various local bands in the New York area together, Subzero was finalized. Subzero is one of the longest active bands in the New York hardcore scene, despite a period of inactivity in the late 1990s due to singer Lou Di Bella's bout with Acute lymphoblastic leukemia. He claims his harrowing experiences while in the hospital and numerous brushes with death have made him into a stronger person, evidenced by the lyrics to "Lionhearted", as well as a tongue-in-cheek tattoo across his sternum reading "Cancer Killah". Subzero have toured the world many times over as headliners and as a support group under national acts as well. They've shared the stages with an array of prominent acts such as Slayer, Hatebreed, Megadeth, Motörhead, The Misfits, Sick of It All, Rancid, Cro-Mags, Killswitch Engage, Napalm Death, Iron Maiden, Cannibal Corpse, Eminem and others. They've headlined every major club in Japan, played all the major festivals in Europe. They were one of the first 5 American hardcore bands to ever tour Japan to sold out audiences. Subzero retains their underground ethics and frequently play small clubs, basements and dive bars.

The Stupids are a Hardcore punk band created by Tom Withers.

Strike Anywhere is a punk rock band from Richmond, Virginia. Formed in 1999 after the demise of frontman Thomas Barnett's previous band, Inquisition, they took their name from the Inquisition song "Strike Anywhere". Their music is characterized by fast tempos, catchy melodies, and emotionally charged vocals delivered via shouting and singing. The band has received an increased amount of attention after their music appeared in 3 Tony Hawk video games: Tony Hawk's Underground in 2003 ("Refusal"), Tony Hawk's American Wasteland in 2005 ("Question the Answer"), and Tony Hawk's Downhill Jam ("The Promise"). They were also featured in the documentary Wake Up Screaming about the 2005 Vans Warped Tour. The band played their last show with guitarist Matt Sherwood in Auckland, New Zealand on March 17, 2007, with Mark Miller replacing Sherwood. Since then, the band has continued its regimen of international touring, including the group's first South American tour, where they played Brazil and Colombia. The band also did a European festival tour in Summer of 2008. Strike Anywhere is now signed with Bridge Nine Records, and in an interview, Barnett said "There's no celebrity culture, there's nothing but hard work and a love for art with Bridge 9."

Stretch Arm Strong (Also known as Stretch Armstrong) is a hardcore punk band from Chapin, South Carolina, and the flagship band for We Put Out Records. They have been active since 1992. Several of the band members are outspoken Christians, but they prefer not to be classified as a Christian band in some cases. They do prefer to be known as Christian with influences, but not as a band that "preaches". Vocalist Chris McLane appears on Zao's The Lesser Lights of Heaven DVD.

Stray from the Path is an American hardcore punk band formed in 2001 in Long Island, New York. They have released seven full-length albums total. First three records independently released entitled People Over Profit in 2002, Audio Prozac in 2003, Our Oceania in 2004. Stray From The Path signed with Sumerian Records and released five records with them entitled Villains in 2008, Make Your Own History in 2009, Rising Sun in 2011, Anonymous in 2013, and Subliminal Criminals in 2015. They are currently signed to Sumerian Records. They have been seen on tour with bands such as: Architects, Every Time I Die, The Acacia Strain, Terror, Norma Jean, Underoath, The Ghost Inside, For Today, Stick to Your Guns, Bleeding Through, Comeback Kid, and Counterparts. They were also featured on the All Stars Tour in 2012 and 2013.

Stick to Your Guns is an American hardcore punk band from Orange County, California. Members of the band include Jesse Barnett (vocals), Andrew Rose (bass), George Schmitz (drums), Chris Rawson and Josh James (guitars). They are currently signed with Sumerian Records.

SNFU is a Canadian hardcore punk band formed in 1981 in Edmonton, and later relocated in Vancouver. They have released ten full-length albums and are cited as a formative influence on the skate punk subgenre.

The band is a side project from lead singer Lord Ezec aka Danny Diablo of Crown of Thornz, and includes members of Madball and Subzero and "The Duke" Eric W Markley of Tacoma Wa. It is considered the originators of thugcore music, a subgenre of hardcore punk "full of relentless breakdowns and throwdown-ready posturing". The band has toured with Gwar, Hatebreed, and Earth Crisis.

Side By Side was an American hardcore punk band on Revelation Records. They were a band from NY of youth crew persuasion. Recorded output was limited to a single 7", You're Only Young Once... Their 7" was the fifth record released by Revelation Records.

Sick of It All is an American hardcore punk band, formed in 1986 in Queens, New York. The band's current lineup consists of brothers Lou Koller on vocals and Pete Koller on lead guitar, Craig Setari on bass, and Armand Majidi on drums. Sick of It All has been a major part of the New York hardcore scene.

A Hare Krishna Hardcore punk band formed by Ray Cappo. Because of the usual Hare Krishna and Hindu-oriented messages in its lyrics, Shelter's genre is often dubbed krishnacore.

Sheer Terror are an American hardcore punk band from New York City. The band was one of the first to combine elements of heavy metal with a hardcore punk base, pioneering a heavier style of hardcore that would become popular in the following decades. Formed in late 1984, the band, stayed together until 1998, surviving numerous lineup changes and shifts in musical style. In October 2004, the band reunited and gave two final farewell shows at New York's CBGB Club.

Septic Death was a thrashcore band fronted by artist Brian "Pushead" Schroeder on vocals. Septic Death's music became a major influence on bands like Integrity, Von, Citizens Arrest, Infest, Rorschach and many other bands tied to the hardcore punk and extreme metal scenes. The band played only a few shows during its active years (1981 to 1986), mostly in Boise, Idaho.

Senses Fail are an American post-hardcore band that formed in New York City, New York in 2002. The band have seen many lineup changes; the only founding member still in the band being lead singer James "Buddy" Nielsen. The lineup currently consists of Nielsen, guitar players Zack Roach and Matt Smith, bassist Gavin Caswell and drummer Chris Hornbrook. The band's releases include the EP From the Depths of Dreams (2002, reissued 2003) and the full-length albums Let It Enfold You (2004), Still Searching (2006), Life Is Not a Waiting Room (2008), The Fire (2010) Renacer (2013) and Pull the Thorns from Your Heart (2015).

Scream is an American hardcore punk band from Bailey's Crossroads, Virginia originally active from 1981 to 1990. In 2009 the band reunited, and as of January 2012 were on tour in Europe.

S.O.B., also known as SxOxBx, is an early, seminal hardcore punk and Thrashcore band from Japan. Their band name is an acronym for Sabotage Organized Barbarian.

Rites of Spring was an American post-hardcore band from Washington, D.C., in the mid-1980s, known for their energetic live performances. A part of the D.C. hardcore punk scene, Rites of Spring increased the frenetic violence and visceral passion of hardcore while simultaneously experimenting with its compositional rules. Lyrically, they also shifted hardcore into intensely personal realms and, in doing so, are often considered the first emo band, but Rites of Spring itself rejects any association between themselves and emo genres.

Rise Against is an American melodic hardcore band from Chicago, Illinois, formed in 1999. The band's current line-up comprises vocalist/rhythm guitarist Tim McIlrath, lead guitarist Zach Blair, bassist Joe Principe and drummer Brandon Barnes. Former members are guitarists Dan Wlekinski, Kevin White, Todd Mohney and Chris Chasse, and drummers Toni Tintari and Dan Lumley.

Rich Kids on LSD (RKL) was a Californian hardcore punk band formed in 1982 in Montecito, California, a suburb of Santa Barbara. They were associated with the "Nardcore" scene that evolved out of nearby Oxnard. Their music expanded over the years from West Coast hardcore to a mix of hardcore with rock and metal elements. This style, along with touring, made them very popular on the European scene, especially among skaters in the 1980s and 1990s. Guitarist Chris Rest was the band's only consistent member however vocalist Jason Sears, after leaving the group at a point and rejoining shortly after, had been with the band for the majority of their career before his death.

Revenge of the Psychotronic Man are a fast paced punk band with hardcore influences based in Manchester, United Kingdom and formed in 2004. They are sometimes referred to as Revenge Of..., Revenge or RPM. The band has had music released in the UK, mainland Europe and the USA and has toured the UK and mainland Europe extensively.

The Replacements were an American rock band formed in Minneapolis, Minnesota, in 1979, and are considered pioneers of alternative rock. The band was composed of the guitarist and vocalist Paul Westerberg, guitarist Bob Stinson, bass guitarist Tommy Stinson and drummer Chris Mars for most of its career. Following several acclaimed albums, including Let It Be and Tim, Bob Stinson left the band in 1986 and the band experienced several line-up changes; Slim Dunlap joined as lead guitarist and Steve Foley replaced Mars in 1990. Towards the end of the band's career, Westerberg exerted more control over the creative output. The group disbanded in 1991, with the members ultimately pursuing various projects. However, a reunion was announced on October 3, 2012. The Replacements never experienced any significant commercial success, except for "I'll Be You" which hit number one on the Alt Rock Billboard listing, but they did influence a variety of alternative rock acts.

Refused is a Swedish hardcore punk band originating from Umeå and formed in 1991. Refused is composed of vocalist Dennis Lyxzén, guitarist Kristofer Steen, drummer David Sandström, and bassist Magnus Flagge. Guitarist Jon Brännström was a member from 1994, through reunions, until he was fired in late-2014. Their lyrics are often of a non-conformist and politically far-left nature.

Redd Kross is an American alternative rock band from Hawthorne, California, who had their roots in 1978 in a punk rock band called The Tourists, which was begun by brothers Jeff and Steve McDonald while they were still in middle school. With the addition of friends Greg Hetson and John Stielow on drums, the band's first gig was opening for Black Flag.

Really Red was one of Houston, Texas' first punk bands and existed from the late 1970s through 1985.

Reagan Youth is an American punk rock band formed by singer Dave Rubinstein (Dave Insurgent) and guitarist Paul Bakija (Paul Cripple) in Queens, New York in early 1980. They were one of the first hardcore bands on the East Coast punk scene, and also part of the anarcho-punk movement. As committed political anarchists, their name critiques fervor for then-presidential frontrunner Ronald Reagan with the Hitler Youth who pledged blind allegiance the Nazi regime during World War II.

Rattus is a Finnish hardcore punk band that was formed in 1978 in Vilppula. Rattus is one of the best known Finnish hardcore bands. In 1988, they split up, but returned in 2001.

Ratos de Porão (Portuguese for "Basement Rats") is a Brazilian crossover thrash/hardcore punk band from São Paulo. They were formed in 1981, toured South America, North America, and Europe and still continue to play today. Their core lineup of João Gordo on vocals and Jão on drums and later guitars has remained since virtually the band's beginning.

Raised Fist is a Swedish hardcore punk band, formed in 1993.

R.A.M.B.O. (often referred to simply as Rambo) were an American punk rock band based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The band identified with the straight edge, anarchist, vegan, crust punk, cyclist and thrashcore movements. Known for hectic live performances, the band toured extensively in the United States, Europe, Australia and Southeast Asia, including several sections of the latter continent previously unvisited by touring Western rock bands.

The Proletariat was a punk band from Fall River, Massachusetts. They were active during the 1980s in the Boston Hardcore scene, despite their recorded output having a decidedly non-hardcore sound; The Proletariat show more strongly the musical influences of bands such as Wire, and Gang of Four in their angular guitar sound and Marxist-themed lyrics.

Project X was a short-lived hardcore punk/youth crew band from New York City, and also the name of their only release, being a five-track EP. The band consisted of members of other prominent NYC hardcore bands Gorilla Biscuits, Youth of Today, Side by Side and Judge.

Poison Idea is an American punk rock band formed in Portland, Oregon in 1980. The band originally dissolved in 1993, but has been playing intermittently since 1998.

Point of No Return was a vegan, straight edge metalcore band. The band started in 1996 as a side project of Self-Conviction members, in São Paulo, Brazil. The band's lyrics were focused on "Third World struggles" and animal liberation issues. Point Of No Return first CD, "Centelha" (Sparks), was released by Liberation Records in Brazil and Catalyst Records in US. Their sound was describe as a mix of Earth Crisis metal mosh with death metal elements. The band had three singers, like their North American counterpart, Path of Resistance. The band toured Europe twice, in 2000 and 2002, and toured Argentina in 2001. After a seven months break and a supposed "last show" in Argentina, the band came back with a new album in 2002, "Liberdade Imposta, Liberdade Conquistada" (Imposed Freedom, Conquered Freedom). The songs were more deep and melancholic, but also with a strong influence from bands like Cro-Mags, Judge and Napalm Death. The lyrics, this time completely in Portuguese, dealt about political and social issues. Point of No Return played its last show in 2006.

Phinius Gage were an established and influential UK underground skate punk/melodic hardcore band who started up in 2002 and were active until 2008. They have reformed in 2015.

Pennywise is an American punk rock band from Hermosa Beach, California, United States, formed in 1988. The name is derived from the monster, It, from the Stephen King novel of the same title.

A Philadelphia, Pennsylvania-based modern hardcore punk band. Their music is often described as melodic hardcore, characterized by fast tempos, catchy melodies and emotionally charged vocals delivered via shouting and singing.

Painstream is a Finnish hardcore punk band. Formed in 2000 in the city of Turku, they began as an "old school HC"-style band. They play fast HC punk with some metal influences. Painstream stands out in their local punk scene by their use of different instruments such as the Hammond organ, saxophone and cello in some of their songs.

Outbreak is an American hardcore punk band from Maine. The group was founded in 2002 and has released two full-length albums, Failure on Bridge 9 and Outbreak on Think Fast! Records. The band has also released several other EP's, splits, and singles, notably appearing on the Saw VI: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack in 2009, along with Hatebreed, Type O Negative, Suicide Silence, Every Time I Die, and others.

Operation Ivy, sometimes called "Op Ivy," (op Iv) was an American Ska punk band, from Berkeley, California formed in May 1987. The band was stylistically important as one of the first bands to mix the elements of hardcore punk and ska into a new amalgam called ska punk and was critical to the emergence of Lookout Records and the so-called "East Bay Sound."

One Life Crew (OLC) is a straight-edge hardcore band. They originally formed in Cleveland, Ohio in 1994. Though the band has had numerous members, the most notable line-up consisted of "Mean" Steve Murad (vocals), Blaze Tishko (guitar), John "Lockjaw" Tole (bass), and Tony "Chubby Fresh" Pines (drums). The band formed out of the ashes of Murad's former bands Confront and Mean Streak.

One King Down was a straight edge hardcore band from Albany, New York that recorded and performed from 1994 until 2001.

The Offspring is an American punk rock band from Huntington Beach, California, formed in 1984. Formed under the name Manic Subsidal, the band consists of lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist Dexter Holland, bassist Greg K., lead guitarist Kevin "Noodles" Wasserman and drummer Pete Parada. The Offspring is often credited—alongside fellow California punk bands Green Day and Rancid—for reviving mainstream interest in punk rock in the 1990s. They have sold over 36 million records worldwide, being considered one of the best-selling punk rock bands of all time.

Off! is an American hardcore punk supergroup, formed in Los Angeles in 2009.

NOFX /ˌnɵɛfˈɛks/ is an American punk rock band from Los Angeles, California. The band was formed in 1983 by vocalist/bassist Fat Mike and guitarist Eric Melvin. Drummer Erik Sandin joined NOFX shortly after. In 1991, El Hefe joined to play lead guitar and trumpet, rounding out the current line-up. The band rose to popularity with their fifth studio album Punk in Drublic (1994).

No Trigger is a melodic hardcore band from Massachusetts, United States. The band formed in 2000, with a sound which takes cues from like-minded outfits such as Strike Anywhere and None More Black. The band self-released two demos, one of them a split with Wasteland. By this point the band had started to gain accolades from the webzine likes of Pastepunk and Punknews, the latter of which referred to No Trigger as close to being "the best unsigned band in America".

No Redeeming Social Value, also known as NRSV, is an American hardcore punk band. The band was started in 1988 by the brothers D Thrilla and K9 the sonic Maximizer of the Queens Village neighborhood of New York City. Alcohol, marijuana and parties are major themes in the group's music.

The Nip Drivers were an American punk rock band formed in 1980 in Torrance, California. The band was the brainchild of lead singer Mike Webber, and for a time included guitarist Kurt Schellenbach, Janus Jones on bass, and Nick Passiglia on drums, though the lineup at any given time was fluid. They played fast hardcore punk, often infused with humor and a total lack of political correctness. In addition to their own compositions, they recorded sometimes improbable covers of pop hits such as Olivia Newton-John’s "Have You Never Been Mellow," Duran Duran's "Rio," and Sweet’s "Fox on the Run". The last is heard on the soundtrack of the 1984 film Desperate Teenage Lovedolls. The band also made a cameo appearance in the 1985 film Echo Park starring Susan Dey and Tom Hulce.

New Regime is a Los Angeles, California punk band. Initially called "Sodomy Squad", the band was co-founded in 1979 by vocalist Todd Payden and bass player Michael Brevetz, while they were students at North Hollywood's Walter Reed Jr. High School. Needing a drummer and guitarist, Brevetz and Payden recruited fellow students Marc Woodson and Anthony Gallo to complete the line up. The group did one demo recording under the name Sodomy Squad, but found it difficult to get shows under the name, opting for the less offensive but more political name "New Regime."

The Nerve Agents were an American hardcore punk band formed by Andy Outbreak and Eric Ozenne (ex-Redemption 87).

Negazione was a hardcore punk band based in Turin, Italy during the 1980s and early 1990s.

Negative FX was a hardcore band from Boston, formed in 1981. Though the band lasted only a short time, playing a total of five shows (six flyers exist), the band was well known for their involvement in the local straight edge scene of the early 1980s. Along with members of the bands DYS and SS Decontrol (SSD), Negative FX was part of the "Boston Crew", a group of social friends who traveled around the country with SSD and other Boston hardcore bands.

Negative Approach is an American hardcore punk band, formed in Detroit, Michigan in 1981. The band is considered among the pioneers of hardcore punk, particularly in the Midwest region. Like most hardcore bands, Negative Approach was little known in its day outside of its hometown. It is now idolized in the Detroit rock underground and the punk subculture, considered to be one of the elite bands of the "old school" era, and continues to be influential. Negative Approach initially broke up in 1984 with singer John Brannon moving on to the Laughing Hyenas, and later Easy Action, but the band has reformed as of 2006 and continues to tour sporadically.

Necros were an early American hardcore punk band from Maumee, Ohio, although they are usually identified with the Detroit music scene. They are the first band to record for Touch and Go Records.

Napalm Death are a British extreme metal band formed in Meriden, West Midlands, England, in 1981. While none of its original members remain in the group, the lineup of vocalist Mark "Barney" Greenway, bassist Shane Embury, guitarist Mitch Harris and drummer Danny Herrera has remained consistent for most of the band's career.

Murphy's Law is an American hardcore punk band from New York City, New York, formed in 1982. While vocalist Jimmy Gestapo remains the only founding member of the band, in the past the line-up has consisted of former members of bands such as Skinnerbox, Danzig, The Bouncing Souls, Mucky Pup, Dog Eat Dog, Hanoi Rocks, Agnostic Front, and D Generation.

Mouthpiece was a New Jersey straight edge hardcore punk band from 1991 to 1996. Often seen as one of the seminal acts of the youth crew era, or the earliest revival of it. Many fans and critics alike credited them as a rare voice of reason in comparison to the aggressive trends in straight edge bands at the time.

Modern Life Is War is an American hardcore punk band originally from Marshalltown, Iowa. Formed in 2002, it is known for its incendiary live shows and unique take on the melodic hardcore and hardcore punk sound, usually avoiding standard song structures. During Modern Life Is War's six-year original run, the band released three full-length albums and one self-titled 7" EP. Despite a growing profile on the underground hardcore circuit, and garnering critical acclaim from numerous musical outlets, Modern Life Is War announced its dissolution in early 2008. The band reunited in 2012.

Mob 47 is a hardcore punk band which formed in Stockholm, Sweden in 1982, originally under the name of "Censur". In 1983 the band members changed the name to what it's now called "Mob 47" when singer Mentis entered the band. During their early years they played with the legendary band Anti Cimex. They were influenced by bands such as Discharge, Crucifix, D.R.I., and B.G.K.. They have been described as the fastest of the Swedish D-beat groups.

The Mob is a New York hardcore band formed in 1980. The band began when Jack Flanagan left the group Heart Attack to form his own group with Ralph Gebbia, John Frawley, and Nicko. After being exposed to hardcore through a Bad Brains show at CBGB, the group started playing harder and faster, moving away from the sound of the first wave of New York Punk rock bands. In 1981, Jose Gonzalez officially joined the group, following John Frawley's departure to join Heart Attack, and Jamie Shanahan replaced Nicko on the drums. The band continued, more or less with this lineup until 1991, when they went on a hiatus that would last nearly 20 years, with only a handful of sporadic shows and releases. In 2011 the group reunited to play live shows and record new music once again.

Misfits are an American punk rock band often recognized as the progenitors of the horror punk subgenre, blending punk rock and other musical influences with horror film themes and imagery.

Minutemen was an American rock band formed in San Pedro, California in 1980. Composed of guitarist/vocalist D. Boon, bassist/vocalist Mike Watt, and drummer George Hurley, Minutemen recorded four albums and eight EPs before Boon's death in an automobile accident in December 1985. They were noted in the California punk community for a philosophy of "jamming econo"—a sense of thriftiness reflected in their touring and presentation—while their eclectic and experimental attitude was instrumental in pioneering alternative rock.

Minor Threat were a hardcore punk band, formed in 1980 in Washington, D.C. and disbanded in 1983. The band was relatively short-lived, but had a strong influence on the hardcore punk scene, both stylistically and in establishing a "do it yourself" (DIY) ethic for music distribution and concert promotion. Minor Threat's song "Straight Edge" became the eventual basis of the straight edge movement, while the band often professed their own "straight edge" ideals. AllMusic described Minor Threat's music as "iconic," and noted that their groundbreaking music "has held up better than most of their contemporaries."

The Middle Class were an American punk rock/hardcore punk band established in 1977 in Santa Ana, California. The band consisted of Jeff Atta on vocals, Mike Atta on lead guitar, Mike Patton on bass, and Bruce Atta on drums. The band achieved success in the hardcore punk scene of Southern California. Their first shows were in 1978 in various Los Angeles clubs and ballrooms.

The Melvins are an American band that formed in 1983. They usually perform as a trio, but in recent years have performed as a four piece with two drummers. Since 1984, singer and guitarist Buzz Osborne (also known as King Buzzo) and drummer Dale Crover have been the band's ongoing members. The band was named after a supervisor at a Thriftway in Montesano, Washington, where Osborne also worked as a clerk. "Melvin" was despised by other employees, and the band's members felt it to be an appropriately ridiculous name.

MDC (Millions of Dead Cops) is an American punk rock band formed in Austin, Texas in 1981. The band was subsequently based in San Francisco, California, and are currently based in Portland, Oregon. Originally formed as The Stains before changing their name, the band also changed their name to a different initialism of MDC with every new record released. They play fast hardcore punk music espousing far-left sociopolitical ideals, with singer Dave Dictor expressing his animal rights and anti-capitalist convictions.

Madball is a New York-based hardcore band that originated in the late 1980s, as a side project of Agnostic Front. The band developed after Agnostic Front's front man Roger Miret would let his younger half-brother, Freddy Cricien take the microphone and perform lead vocals during Agnostic Front shows.

M.O.D. (Method of Destruction) is a crossover thrash band from New York City, fronted by Stormtroopers of Death vocalist Billy Milano. The band has been around for 29 years (minus one hiatus from 1997 to 2001), and released eight studio albums. With M.O.D., Milano sought to continue on the musical path of the bands Anthrax, Stormtroopers of Death and Nuclear Assault, mixing shades of hardcore punk with thrash metal and often humorous and politically incorrect lyrics.

Litmus Green are a hardcore punk band from Southern California, USA, who played from 1991-2002 and 2009-present. They play short, fast political themed songs. They were featured in the award winning documentary The Decline of Western Civilization III. They played their "last" show together on October 26, 2002 before reuniting in 2009.

Limp Wrist is a United States punk rock band, who formed in 1998. Featuring members of Los Crudos, Hail Mary, Devoid of Faith, By The Throat , and Kill the Man Who Questions, the band plays short, fast hardcore music, and covers themes concerning the gay community in their live performances and lyrics. They identify as part of the "queercore" punk subculture: referring to their style of music, the band declared in Frontiers magazine, "We put the 'core' back in 'Queercore'".

An American punk rock band formed in 1998, following the breakup of Choking Victim. The band is currently signed to Fat Wreck Chords for CD releases, and Alternative Tentacles for vinyl releases.

Leathermouth (often typeset as LeATHERMØUTH) was a hardcore band led by former My Chemical Romance rhythm guitarist Frank Iero. The band formed in 2007, and in January 2009 released their first album XO.

Lay It on the Line is a British melodic hardcore band from London. They were formed in 2012 by Phinius Gage member Mike Scott, his brother Matt and Dave Smith, who was originally guitarist in Not Katies. They wrote their demo in a single evening and recorded it in a single day. Championed by Radio 1 DJ Mike Davies before they had played a show, the band have so far gone on to release four EPs. Their current line-up features Duncan (formerly of Hang the Bastard).

Lard is a hardcore punk/industrial band founded in 1988 as a side project by Jello Biafra (vocals), Al Jourgensen (guitar), Paul Barker (bass), and Jeff Ward (drums). Biafra is perhaps best known as the former frontman of the hardcore punk band Dead Kennedys. Jourgensen is the founder and only continuous member of industrial metal band Ministry, of which Barker was an official member between 1986 and 2004, and Ward was also once a touring member. Over the years, several other members of Ministry played with Lard, namely Bill Rieflin, Mike Scaccia, and Rey Washam.

Knuckledust are a London-based hardcore band. The band was formed in 1996 when Nic, Ray and Wema contacted Pelbu to start a band. As the groups popularity grew, the band played with Agnostic Front, Warzone, Madball, The Misfits among others.

Killing Time is an influential New York Hardcore band. From their beginnings in 1988, under the name Raw Deal, they went on to record two full-length albums and several EPs, singles, and compilation tracks. The band went through three hiatus before formally disbanding in 1998. However, the band re-formed in 2006 and has been touring/playing since. Work on their third full-length album was completed in March 2009.

Kill Your Idols was a hardcore punk band from Long Island/New York City, New York. The band was active from 1995 through 2007. They were signed to SideOneDummy Records.

Judge is a New York-based straight edge hardcore band formed in 1987 by Youth of Today guitarist John "Porcell" Porcelly, and former Youth of Today drummer, Mike "Judge" Ferraro.

JFA (Jodie Foster's Army) is a hardcore punk band formed in 1981, with roots in Arizona and in Southern California skateboard culture. The original members include Brian Brannon (vocals), Don Redondo (guitar), Michael Cornelius (bass), and Mike "Bam-Bam" Sversvold (drums). Alan Bishop of Sun City Girls also played bass for a while. The band was pivotal in the development of the skate punk and Skate Rock scenes. Over the years, the lineup has included many bass players and drummers but the core of Brannon and Redondo has remained constant.

Jerry's Kids is one of the earliest Boston hardcore bands, formed in 1981, from Braintree, Mass.. Their first recorded output was on the Modern Method This Is Boston, Not L.A. compilation LP in 1982. They contributed six tracks along with other early Boston Hardcore band Gang Green.

Jello Biafra and the Guantanamo School of Medicine is a punk rock band led by Jello Biafra. They released their debut album, The Audacity of Hype in October 2009.

Jawbreaker was an American punk rock band active from 1986 to 1996. The band is considered one of the most influential acts of the 1990s emo movement. Lead vocalist and guitarist Blake Schwarzenbach, bassist Chris Bauermeister, and drummer Adam Pfahler formed the band while students at New York University, later relocating to Los Angeles where they released their debut album Unfun (1990) through independent record label Shredder Records. Relocating again to San Francisco the following year, they released 1992's Bivouac through the Tupelo Recording Company and The Communion Label. Schwarzenbach's charisma and personal, frustrated lyrics helped to establish him as a cult idol, even as he underwent surgery to remove painful and voice-threatening polyps from his throat. Jawbreaker toured with Nirvana in 1993 and released 24 Hour Revenge Therapy in 1994, attracting the attention of major labels. They signed a $1 million contract with DGC Records and released 1995's Dear You, but the album's polished production and smooth vocals resulted in a significant backlash from the band's core audience. Internal tensions led to Jawbreaker's dissolution in 1996.

Ice Nine Kills is an American post-hardcore band from Boston, Massachusetts who are signed to Fearless Records. Formed in its earliest incarnation in 2006 by high school friends Spencer Charnas and Jeremy Schwartz, the group originally pursued a style combining pop punk, emo, post-hardcore and ska into their own innovative blend of rock but have since shifted into more of an experimental metalcore hybrid. Charnas is currently the only remaining founding member.

International Superheroes of Hardcore were a parodical hardcore punk band. The band is a side project of New Found Glory and features all five members. Chad Gilbert and Jordan Pundik switched duties to vocals and guitar, respectively. The remaining three members play the same instruments as in New Found Glory. All five members use pseudonyms rooted in hardcore and punk culture (bassist Ian Grushka's pseudonym of "Sgt. Soy" is a reference to both the prevalence of vegetarianism/veganism in hardcore and punk communities as well as his own vegetarianism).

Inside Out was a hardcore punk band from Orange County, California. It was fronted by Zack de la Rocha, later of Rage Against the Machine.

In My Eyes was a Boston straight edge band that spearheaded the 1997 youth crew revival along with Ten Yard Fight, Bane, The Trust, Fastbreak and Floorpunch. The band and its members were a part of the hot bed that was the Boston music scene in the late 90's and early 2000s. Members of the band also played in The Explosion, Fastbreak, and Panic. In My Eyes played their last show in October 2000, commemorating the second National Edge Day. The band was named after the Minor Threat song.

Ill Repute is an American hardcore punk band from Oxnard, California, formed in 1981. They are noted for popularizing the "Nardcore" sound in the mid-1980s hardcore punk scene, and recorded for Mystic Records.

Ignite is a melodic hardcore band from Orange County, California. Formed in 1993, their commercial breakthrough album came on May 30, 2000, on TVT Records, and was called A Place Called Home. Prior to this release they were well regarded among hardcore fans, thanks in part to constant touring and having visited over 40 countries.

Icepick is a metalcore band formed in 1996. It serves as a side project to Jamey Jasta of Hatebreed, Danny Diablo, and other musicians of the hardcore punk and hip hop scenes. Although founded in 1996, Icepick remained virtually stagnant until the song "Born To Crush You" appeared on UFC: Ultimate Beat Downs, Vol. 1 in August 2004. Former UFC heavyweight champion Andrei Arlovski frequently uses their song Onward to Victory as his entrance music for fights.

I.R.A. is a Colombian hardcore punk band from Medellín, Antioquia, formed in 1985 by David Viola (at present, guitarist and vocalist of the band) and some of his friends that have already left the band. It is one of the oldest bands that still exist in Medellín, thanks to the perseverance of David Viola. Its long career and recent tours in the United States have made it one of the most important and popular punk bands in Medellín and Colombia. In their songs, they talk about, and criticize, the actual situation of Colombia and the world, and also about the life and feelings of people in this situation.

Hüsker Dü /ˈhʊskər ˈduː/ was an American rock band formed in Saint Paul, Minnesota in 1979. The band's continual members were guitarist/vocalist Bob Mould, bassist Greg Norton, and drummer/vocalist Grant Hart.

Hundredth is an American melodic hardcore band from Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, that formed in 2008.

Hoods is a metalcore band from Sacramento, California. Formed in 1994 by Mike (Hood) Mraz who later added Logan Murray, Tony Goodloe and Billy Gaffney. Hoods shows influences such as Madball, Sick of It All, Minor Threat and Cro-Mags. They released their first EP entitled Once Again in 1996 and concentrated on live performances. After numerous fights between fans and an altercation between a couple of the band members and a police officer, the band was more or less forced out of the Sacramento area. The band concentrated efforts on the San Francisco Bay Area playing shows with groups such as Powerhouse, Redemption 87 and Skin Lab. In 1997 after a disagreement with bandmates and his mother's illness Gaffney left and was replaced by Jeremy. Murray and Goldoe then left and were replaced by Ben and Mario. Mike was the only original member left. The Hoods were dropped from Victory Records. They signed with Eulogy Recordings in 2005 and released The King Is Dead. The group released a new album, Ghetto Blaster, on April 24, 2007. The newest release Pit Beast dropped in late May 2009 after the band signed with I Scream Records. In 2014 the band signed with Artery Recordings and released "Gato Negro".

Hogan's Heroes was an American hardcore punk band formed in New Jersey in 1984. During their time they recorded three full lengths for California label New Red Archives. They have been considered a classic hardcore band, as well as a skate punk and metal band. The band broke up in 1993.

Heresy were a hardcore punk band from Nottingham, England, formed in 1985 and active until late 1989. They released three albums and recorded three sessions for John Peel's BBC Radio 1 show. They are credited as one of the key bands in the late 1980s UK hardcore scene, and one of the original grindcore bands.

The Heart in Hand or Heart-in-Hand is a symbol of a heart in an open palm, and is symbolic of charity, given from the heart. It is an easily recognizable symbol in the Northeastern United States and used by the Shakers as a pictoral reminder of the words of Mother Ann Lee, the founder of the Shaker sect, who promoted a simple life of hard work and spirituality, "Put your hands to work, and your hearts to God." The image is typical of the Shaker attitude, and also implies a loving welcome.

Have Heart was an American straight edge hardcore punk band, formed in New Bedford, Massachusetts in 2002. The band recorded a demo that was released in 2003. In 2004, they released the What Counts EP (Think Fast! Records), with their debut full-length, The Things We Carry (Bridge Nine Records) arriving in 2006. Their latest full-length, Songs To Scream At The Sun (Bridge Nine Records), has garnered much critical acclaim from hardcore critics and fans alike, winning 'album of the year' from many Hardcore-oriented websites.

Hatebreed is an American metalcore band from Connecticut, formed in 1994. They have released 8 studio albums to date. Their musical style blends influences from hardcore punk and heavy metal. A prominent band within the hardcore scene, they have also been considered part of the metal scene.

Government Issue is an American hardcore punk band from Washington, D.C. active from 1980 to 1989 with a reemergence since 2007 to the present day. The band experienced many changes in membership during its nine-year existence, with singer John Stabb as the only consistent member in an ever-fluctuating lineup that at various times included notable musicians Brian Baker, Mike Fellows, Steve Hansgen, J. Robbins, and Peter Moffett. Government Issue originated from the Washington, D.C. hardcore scene but added elements of heavy metal, new wave, and psychedelic rock on later records. Though this has caused the band to be sometimes overlooked in relation to other Washington, D.C. hardcore acts, their stylistic diversity made them influential to later punk rock groups.

Gorilla Biscuits is a New York-based hardcore punk band consisting of Anthony "Civ" Civarelli, Walter Schreifels, Arthur Smilios, Alex Brown and Luke Abbey. They are currently signed to Revelation Records.

Adjectives may be used in conjunction with the word "adhesive" to describe properties based on the substance's physical or chemical form, the type of materials joined, or conditions under which it is applied.

A Global Threat was an American hardcore punk band, formed in Bangor, ME in 1997. They released four full-length LPs as well as many 7" EPs and have toured extensively throughout the United States.

Give Up the Ghost (originally named American Nightmare) is a hardcore punk band from Boston, Massachusetts.

G.I.S.M. (ギズム, Gizumu?) was a Japanese hardcore punk band formed in Tokyo in 1981. Even though the guitar style resembled heavy metal in many aspects, GISM was one of the first Japanese hardcore bands, while at the same time drawing influence from the early industrial/avant-garde music scene—something uncommon in punk bands at that time.

Gideon is an American Christian heavy metal band hailing from Tuscaloosa, Alabama, who were established in 2008. The groups’ current label imprint is Facedown Records and former was Strike First Records. In 2011, the band came out with a studio album called Costs with Strike First. Their second studio album was issued in 2012, titled Milestone, under current imprinter Facedown.

The Ghost Inside, formerly known as A Dying Dream, is an American metalcore band from Los Angeles, California, formed in 2004. The band currently consists of vocalist Jonathan Vigil, guitarist Zach Johnson, bassist Jim Riley and drummer Andrew Tkaczyk. They have released one EP and four studio albums, with their latest, Dear Youth, released in November 2014 though Epitaph Records and peaking at number 63 on the American Billboard 200 chart.

The Geeks are an influential hardcore punk band from South Korea. They are one of Korea's first hardcore punk bands and also the nation's first band to introduce youth crew and straight edge hardcore. They are the first Korean hardcore band to tour the US, Japan, and Southeast Asia. Due to their extensive travels and organizing overseas tours in Korea, they are one of Korea's most-disseminated bands, being widely known around the world in their own niche genre.

Gang Green is a rock band originally from Braintree, Massachusetts. Chris Doherty (guitar), Bill Manley (bass) and Mike Dean (drums) started the band in 1980 and broke up in 1984. The band was influential in the formation of the East Coast hardcore scene.

Gallows are an English hardcore punk band from Watford, Hertfordshire. The band was formed in 2005 after the disbandment of founding member Laurent Barnard's previous band, My Dad Joe. Gallows' debut album, Orchestra of Wolves, was distributed in the United States by Epitaph Records, and they were subsequently signed to Warner Bros. Records for a £1 million album contract with up to three options, a deal they were dropped from after one album, Grey Britain. The band has been particularly successful in their native country, with three songs charting on the UK Single Charts, and have been featured in magazines such as Kerrang!, Alternative Press and Rolling Stone.

Fugazi is an American post-hardcore band that formed in Washington, D.C. in 1987. The band consists of guitarists and vocalists Ian MacKaye and Guy Picciotto, bassist Joe Lally and drummer Brendan Canty.

Fucked Up is a Canadian hardcore punk band from Toronto, Ontario. The band won the 2009 Polaris Music Prize for the album The Chemistry of Common Life.

Four Year Strong is an American pop punk/melodic hardcore band from Worcester, Massachusetts, formed in 2001. The group consists of vocalists and guitarists Dan O'Connor and Alan Day, bassist Joe Weiss, and drummer Jackson Massucco. They have released four studio albums, their recent self-titled album was released on June 2, 2015 through Pure Noise Records.

Flipper is an American punk and noise rock band formed in San Francisco, California in 1979, continuing in often erratic fashion until the mid-1990s, then reuniting in 2005. The band influenced a number of grunge, punk rock and noise rock bands. Their slowed-down, bass-driven, and heavily distorted style of punk is also considered a key forerunner to sludge, and influenced bands such as The Melvins and Nirvana, whose bass player Krist Novoselic played with the band in the 2000s.

Fear is a hardcore punk band from Los Angeles, California, formed in 1977. The band is credited for helping to shape the sound and style of Californian hardcore punk. The group started out as part of the early California punk rock scene, and gained national prominence after an infamous 1981 performance on Saturday Night Live.

Farewell to Freeway is a Canadian Metalcore band from Guelph, Ontario currently signed to Victory Records.

The Faith was an early American hardcore punk band, from Washington D.C., with strong connections to the scene centered on the Dischord label. Along with Minor Threat, The Faith were key players in the early development of hardcore, with a (later) melodic approach that would influence not just associated acts like Rites of Spring, Embrace and Fugazi, but also a subsequent generation of bands such as Nirvana, whose Kurt Cobain was a vocal fan.

The F.U.'s formed in late 1981 as a three piece Boston hardcore punk band. In 1986 they changed their name to Straw Dogs, moving toward heavy metal and reformed under their original moniker in 2010.

F-Minus was a punk rock band formed in 1995 in Huntington Beach, California, started by Jen Johnson and Brad Logan. F-Minus was known for their dueling male and female vocals in songs that were sometimes as short as 12 seconds ("Fuck You O.C."). Before breaking up in 2004, their last album was recorded by Steve Albini. Throughout their career, they covered such bands as Antidote, Black Randy and the Metro Squad, 7 Seconds, Negative Approach, and Agnostic Front. Brad Logan currently runs his own record label Blacknoise, and is also member of the New York band Leftöver Crack. Jen Johnson currently is the designer and owner of clothing label E.C. Star, and also is a member of the California band Ammunition Affair.

The Exploited is a Scottish punk rock band from Edinburgh, Scotland, formed in 1979. Formed in Edinburgh by Stevie Ross and Terry Buchan and later joined by ex-soldier Wattie Buchan (Terry's brother), they signed to Secret Records in March 1981 and released their debut EP Army Life. The album Punks Not Dead followed in the same year. Despite many lineup changes, Wattie Buchan has remained as the leader. In 2012 the band started writing material for a new album.

English Dogs are a British hardcore punk band that began life in the early eighties. Two versions of the band exist,the Punk/Metal Crossover band featuring original drummer Andrew 'Pinch' Pinching and second era members Graham 'Gizz' Butt and Adie Bailey and a punk-based one featuring original vocalist Pete 'Wakey' Wakefield.

Endwell is a hardcore band from Queens, New York formed in 2003. They have released one independent EP, one full-length LP on Victory Records, and one EP & two full-lengths via Mediaskare Records.

Endpoint was a hardcore band from Louisville, Kentucky. A considerable number of their songs dealt with social and political issues.

Econochrist was a political hardcore punk band active in the late eighties and early nineties. They moved from Arkansas to the San Francisco Bay Area to become part of the punk music scene there. The group was composed of singer Ben Sizemore, aka Ben Econochrist, drummer Markly Hart, guitarist Jon Sumrall, and bassist Mike Scott Ex Christ on Parade.

Earth Crisis is an American metalcore band from Syracuse, New York, active from 1989 until 2001, reuniting in 2007. Since 1993 the band's longest serving members are vocalist Karl Buechner, guitarist Scott Crouse, bassist Ian Edwards and drummer Dennis Merrick. Their third guitarist Erick Edwards joined the band in 1998. The band has released 8 studio albums, 3 compilations, 2 live albums and 6 music videos. The band is known for supporting animal rights, promoting a straight edge and vegan lifestyle, and addressing further social and political issues.

E.Town Concrete, or sometimes called E-Town, is an American rock band from Elizabeth, New Jersey. They formed in 1995 and shortly thereafter released Time 2 Shine, their first full-length album, in 1999 on the Resurrection A.D. label. They have since released four more albums on various record labels, such as Razor & Tie and Ironbound Recordings. The band decided to break up in 2006, playing their last show on May 20 of the same year.

DYS is an American straight edge hardcore band from Boston, Massachusetts who were part of the notorious "Boston Crew" in the 1980s, along with contemporaries such as SSD and Negative FX. The group later expanded their sound, becoming one of the first hardcore bands to veer into heavy metal.

Dr. Know is a punk band which began as a Nardcore band from Oxnard, California. They are regarded as founding fathers of the so-called "Nardcore" punk movement.

Down to Nothing (or DTN) are an American straight edge hardcore punk band from Richmond, Virginia. Since their inception in 2000, Down to Nothing have toured all over the world. Their most recent studio recording is a 2013 LP Life On The James on Revelation Records, preceded by CD/vinyl EP titled All My Sons released in 2010 on Reaper Records (US) and Dead Souls Records (AUS). Down to Nothing's first two albums, Save It For The Birds and Splitting Headache, are currently out of print but were re-released in February 2008 on one CD/LP titled Unbreakable.

The Distillers were an Australian-American punk rock band, formed in Los Angeles, California in 1998 by vocalist and guitarist Brody Dalle. Dalle co -wrote, played guitar and provided vocals for nearly every track on the band's three albums. After the breakup of the band in 2006, Dalle and Distillers guitarist Tony Bevilacqua went on to form Spinnerette.

Discharge are a British hardcore punk band formed in 1977 by Terence "Tezz" Roberts and Royston "Rainy" Wainwright. While the band had substantial line-up changes over its history, the classic line-up from the early 1980s featured bassist Wainwright, drummer Gary Maloney, Anthony "Bones" Roberts playing guitar, and vocalist Kelvin "Cal" Morris (a.k.a. "Cal Voice").

The Descendents are a punk rock band formed in 1977 in Manhattan Beach, California by guitarist Frank Navetta, bassist Tony Lombardo and drummer Bill Stevenson. In 1980, they enlisted Stevenson's friend Milo Aukerman from school as a singer, and reappeared as a punk rock band, becoming a major player in the hardcore punk scene developing in Los Angeles at the time. They have released six studio albums, three live albums, three compilation albums, and three EPs. Since 1986, the band's lineup has consisted of singer Milo Aukerman, guitarist Stephen Egerton, bassist Karl Alvarez, and drummer Bill Stevenson.

Defeater is an American melodic hardcore band from Massachusetts, formed in 2004. To date they have released four full-length albums, two EPs and a single. The band lineup consists of Derek Archambault (vocals), Jake Woodruff (guitar), Joe Longobardi (drums) and Mike Poulin (bass). All of the band's works have been released via Bridge 9 Records, aside from the album Travels, which was initially released via Topshelf Records, but was later reissued on Bridge 9 Records. Their latest studio album, Letters Home, was released on July 16, 2013 and debuted at number 72 on Billboard Top 200 chart, number 1 on the vinyl chart and number 13 on the Current Alternative Album chart.

Deez Nuts is an Australian hardcore punk band that formed in Melbourne, Victoria in 2007, currently comprising vocalist JJ Peters, guitarist Matt Rogers, bassist Sean Kennedy and drummer Alex Salinger. The band has released one EP and four studio albums.

Deep Wound was a hardcore punk band formed in 1982 in Westfield, MA. They released one self-titled 7" and contributed two songs to the compilation LP, Bands That Could Be God, both of which are sought after by fans and record collectors alike.

Death Piggy was an American hardcore punk band, formed in 1982 in Richmond, Virginia. They flourished briefly, before Dave Brockie, then their lead singer/bassist, decided to play a joke set while wearing monster costumes as an opening act for Death Piggy. This joke act would later be the basis for the heavy metal band GWAR. They put out a few 45s (some limited to 301 copies) and had a small yet loyal following. They played their last show in 1994, before the death of Sumner.

Death Before Dishonor (DBD or DB4D for short) is an American hardcore band from Boston, Massachusetts. They are influenced by artists such as Blood For Blood, Madball, Agnostic Front, SSD, Suicidal Tendencies, Pennywise, Death Threat. Their initial releases were on Spook City Records; the group signed with Bridge Nine Records in 2005.

Dead Swans were an English hardcore punk band from Brighton, formed in 2006. They released one full length record entitled Sleepwalkers in 2009, as well as three EPs; Southern Blue (2008), It's Starting, (2009), and Anxiety and Everything Else (2012). They also released a split EP with metalcore band Architects in 2008. Further, the band were nominated in the Best British Newcomer category at the 2008 Kerrang! Awards.

Dead Kennedys are an American hardcore punk band formed in San Francisco, California in 1978. The band was one of the first American hardcore bands to make a significant impact in the United Kingdom.

The Dayglo Abortions are a Canadian punk band from Victoria, British Columbia. Their lyrics are informed by a complete disregard for societal norms. They formed in 1979 and released their first album in 1981. The band's biography, Argh Fuck Kill: The Story of the Dayglo Abortions, by author Chris Walter, was published in 2010 by Gofuckyerself Press. Gymbo Jak, lead singer from 1994-2007, also sang for Toronto-based Maximum RNR.

Damage was a New York hardcore band circa 1983 to 1988.

Dag Nasty was an American melodic hardcore band from Washington D.C., formed in 1985 by guitarist Brian Baker of Minor Threat, drummer Colin Sears and bassist Roger Marbury, both of Bloody Mannequin Orchestra, and vocalist Shawn Brown (later of Swiz and Jesuseater). Their style of less aggressive, melodic hardcore was influential to emocore, as well as post-hardcore; they being influenced by The Faith and their 1983 EP Subject to Change.

D.R.I. (abbreviation for Dirty Rotten Imbeciles) is an American crossover thrash band that formed in Houston, Texas in 1982. As of 2015, the band comprises two of its founding members, vocalist Kurt Brecht and guitarist Spike Cassidy, as well as drummer Walter "Monsta" Ryan and bassist Harald Oimoen.

D.O.A. is a hardcore punk band from Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. They are often referred to as the "founders" of hardcore punk, along with Black Flag, The Germs, Negative Trend, and Middle Class. Their second album Hardcore '81 was thought by many to have been the first actual reference to the second wave of the American punk sound as hardcore. Singer/guitarist Joey "Shithead" Keithley is the only founding member to have stayed in the band throughout its entire history. However, original bassist Randy Rampage has been active in the band in recent years and has played on one of the band's last three albums, although he is not in the current lineup. D.O.A. has often released music on Jello Biafra's Alternative Tentacles Records, and they have released an album with Jello Biafra titled Last Scream of the Missing Neighbors.

D.I. is a Southern California punk band featuring ex-Adolescents and Social Distortion drummer Casey Royer on vocals. Royer formed the group after he and former Social Distortion original member Rikk Agnew (also formerly of Christian Death), left the original Mike Ness Social Distortion crew.

Cruel Hand is an American hardcore punk band from Portland, Maine that formed in 2006. As of 2013, Cruel Hand has released four full-length albums: Without a Pulse on 6131 Records, Prying Eyes and Lock & Key on Bridge 9 Records and The Negatives on Hopeless Records. The band has also released three EPs on Bridge 9: Life in Shambles, Cruel Hand and Born Into Debt, We All Owe a Death. Their song "Face to Face" is featured on Triple B Records' 2010 America's Hardcore Compilation.

Los Crudos is an American hardcore punk band from Chicago, Illinois that existed from 1991 to 1998. Being all Latinos, they paved the way for later Spanish-speaking punk bands in the USA and helped to increase the presence of Latinos in the predominantly white punk subculture.

Crucifix was an American hardcore punk band from Berkeley, California, active from 1980 to 1984. They were among the most popular acts of the San Francisco punk scene of the early 1980s. Crucifix was founded and fronted by Cambodian-born singer Sothira Pheng, whose family had fled the country when the Khmer Rouge seized power.

Cro-Mags are an American hardcore punk turned crossover thrash band from New York City. The band, which had a strong cult following, has released five studio albums, their first two considered the most influential. With a Hare Krishna background, they were among the first bands to fuse hardcore punk with thrash metal and were associated with the birth of a tougher attitude within the hardcore scene in the late 1980s, related to the world of martial arts. John Joseph McGowan and Harley Flanagan are practitioners of boxing and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu respectively. According to AllMusic, "before the Cro-Mags, the idea of combining heavy metal and hardcore together was unheard of. But with the release of their classic debut, The Age of Quarrel, hardcore-metal was born, and in its wake came a legion of similarly styled offspring (Biohazard, Vision of Disorder, etc.)."

Cripple Bastards is a grindcore band from Asti, Italy. They were formed in 1988 in order to keep their area on the hardcore map as most of the other bands around them were breaking up.

Counterparts are a Canadian melodic hardcore band formed in 2007 in Hamilton, Ontario. The band currently consists of lead vocalist Brendan "B" Murphy, guitarists Jesse Doreen and Adrian Lee, bassist Brian Kaczmarczyk and drummer Kelly Bilan. The band's two most recent albums, released through Victory Records, have received critical acclaim from Rock Sound and Exclaim! magazines.

Converge is an American mathcore band from Salem, Massachusetts. Formed in 1990, the group comprises vocalist Jacob Bannon, guitarist Kurt Ballou, bassist Nate Newton and drummer Ben Koller. Their music blends hardcore punk and heavy metal. According to Allmusic, Converge are "regarded as one of the most original and innovative bands to emerge from the punk underground".

Consumed was an English punk rock band formed in 1994 in the outskirts of Nottingham. It primarily consisted of brothers Steve and Mike Ford who provided the songwriting, vocals and guitars and drummer Chris Billam. They were signed to Fat Wreck Chords, then moved to BYO Records and Golf Records shortly before the release of the final album Pistols at Dawn. The band toured the UK, Europe, Scandinavia, the U.S. and Canada and were also regulars at surf and skate festivals in the mid- to late-1990s. They pioneered the late 1990s/early 2000s UK, fast Skate Punk scene that also saw bands like Phinius Gage and 4ft Fingers emerge.

Comeback Kid is a Canadian hardcore punk band from Winnipeg, Manitoba. Their name comes from a headline in a newspaper about hockey player Mario Lemieux coming back to the NHL. The band was formed in 2000 by Andrew Neufeld and Jeremy Hiebert who were both members of the band Figure Four, which is currently on hiatus. They were joined by their friends Scott Wade and Kyle Profeta, but CBK was originally intended only to be a side project. Their initial popularity was mainly due to word of mouth within the hardcore scene.

Cólera is a Brazilian punk rock band formed in October 1979 in São Paulo, by the brothers Redson (guitar and lead vocals) and Pierre (drums) and their friend Val (bass guitar) . They are currently the most important punk rock band in Brazil and also one of the oldest punk bands in activity in Brazil, with a career that spans almost 30 years. Although they have never achieved any mainstream success, Cólera is also one of the most influential acts in the Brazilian punk scene, with many fans inside and outside their country. Their sound is fast, sometimes melodic, and the lyrics aim to subjects like peace, liberty, animal liberation,love, politics and environmentalism. They have toured Europe three times, in 1987, 2004 and 2008.

Code Orange (formerly Code Orange Kids) is an American hardcore punk band that formed in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in 2008. The band signed to Deathwish Inc. and have since released two studio albums through the label: Love Is Love/Return to Dust (2012) and I Am King (2014).

Clit 45 was a Streetpunk/Hardcore-band from Long Beach, California that formed in 1996. The band played traditional, fast punk, influenced by The Adolescents, Poison Idea and Bad Religion. Their second and third albums were published by BYO Records and distributed by Cargo Records in Europe. They have toured with bands like The Casualties, The Briefs, New Mexican Disaster Squad, Complete Control, Comeback Kid, The Riffs, The Krays, Defiance, Criminal Authority, Career Soldiers, Dropkick Murphys, The Virus, The Unseen, Bad Religion, and A Global Threat. Their last show was in Portland, OR in October 2006. After a yearlong hiatus, Clit 45 announced that they had officially disbanded on Christmas Day, 2007 via their MySpace page.

CIV was a hardcore punk band from New York City. The band is named after its vocalist, Anthony Civarelli. Three of the band's members (Civarelli, Siegler and Smilios) were members of Gorilla Biscuits. Band member Siegler played in other hardcore bands, including Youth of Today, Judge and Gorilla Biscuits.

Circle Jerks (stylized as Ciʀcle JƎʀᴋs) were an American hardcore punk band, formed in 1979 in Los Angeles, California. The group was founded by former Black Flag vocalist Keith Morris and Red Kross guitarist Greg Hetson. They were among the pre-eminent hardcore punk bands of the LA scene in the late 1970s.

Chelsea Grin is an American deathcore band from Salt Lake City, Utah. Formed in 2007, the group is signed to Artery Recordings and have released two EPs and three full-length albums.

Charged GBH, commonly known as GBH, are an English street punk band which was formed in 1978 by vocalist Colin Abrahall, guitarist Colin "Jock" Blyth, bassist Sean McCarthy (replaced by Ross Lomas by the time they had signed to Clay records) and Drummer Andy "Wilf" Williams. GBH were early pioneers of English street punk, often nicknamed "UK82", along with Discharge, Broken Bones, The Exploited and The Varukers. They have gone on to influence several punk rock musicians. The name GBH was inspired by then-bassist Sean McCarthy's trial for grievous bodily harm, though some fans also believe it is an acronym for "Great Britain Hardcore" and "Great Big Hair". Though the core line up of Colin, Ross and Jock has stayed the same throughout their history the drum stool has been occupied by a number of incumbents following Wilf's departure after the Midnight Madness and Beyond album and Oh No It's GBH again 12" ep. 1986 saw the arrival of German Drummer Kai Reder who played on three albums and an EP (No Need To Panic, A Fridge Too Far and From Here To Reality, as well as the "Wot A Bargain" 12"), Kai Was then replaced by American, Joe "Fish" Montanero for one album (Church of The Truly Warped), this was the bands last release for the Rough Justice label. The drum stool was then occupied from around 1994 by former Bomb Disneyland/Bomb Everything drummer Scott Preece, who has remained to this day and played on all releases since.

Simon Greenham

Champion was a hardcore punk band that was formed by vocalist Jim Hesketh, and guitarist Chris Williams, in the spring of 1999 in Seattle, Washington. A second guitarist, bassist, and drummer were soon added.

A punk rock band from Brooklyn, New York, United States. The band was formed in 2008 and released their debut, self-titled, album on 26 July 2011.

The Casualties are an American street punk band which was formed in New York City in 1990. It was formed by vocalist Jorge Herrera, Hank (guitar), Colin Wolf (vocals), Mark Yoshitomi (bass) and Yureesh Hooker (drums). Hank's last name of several is unknown. Jorge Herrera is the only remaining member of the originals.

Casey Jones was a straight edge hardcore band from Jacksonville, Florida. The band consisted of members from Evergreen Terrace and Anchors Away and was signed to Eulogy Records. They released three albums and split 7".

Carpathian was a hardcore punk band based in Australia. The band was formed in 2003, in Melbourne, Australia, and their final line-up comprised lead vocalist Martin Kirby, guitarists Josh Manitta and Lloyd Carroll, bass guitarist Ed Redclift and drummer David Bichard. Carpathian was made up of straight edge and non-straight edge members.

Career Suicide is a Canadian hardcore punk band formed in 2001 in Toronto. The band's first live performance took place in January 2002, with first recorded output soon to follow. The band has gone on to record several full-length albums and singles on various international labels. The band has completed multiple tours of North America, Europe and Japan and continues to record and tour actively. Guitarist Jonah Falco and former bassist Mike Haliechuk also play drums and guitar, respectively, in the band Fucked Up. Career Suicide are known for having an old school 1980s hardcore sound.

Cancer Bats are a Canadian hardcore punk band from Toronto, Ontario. They have released five studio albums and six extended plays. The band is composed of vocalist Liam Cormier, guitarist Scott Middleton, drummer Mike Peters and bassist Jaye R. Schwarzer. Cancer Bats take a wide variety of influences from heavy metal subgenres and fuse them into hardcore and punk rock, and also include elements of Southern rock. Their sound has thus been likened to sludge metal, as well as to that of metalcore bands such as Converge and Hatebreed. The members of Cancer Bats have also toured and recorded as a Black Sabbath cover band under the name Bat Sabbath.

Burn is a New York hardcore band which began in 1989 playing what could be considered progressive hardcore music with introspective lyrics.

Bunchofuckingoofs, or the BFGs, are an infamous Canadian hardcore punk band from Kensington Market in Toronto, Ontario who formed in November 1983 as a response to "a local war with glue huffing Nazi skinheads."

Bullet Treatment is a hardcore/punk band based out of Los Angeles, California.

Brutal Knights are a Canadian punk band formed in 2006 in Toronto. The band has been described as having a "raw" punk rock-and-roll sound reminiscent of early-1980s hardcore. Brutal Knights are also known for their humorous lyrics, written by vocalist Nick Flanagan. Flanagan is also a comedian, and sometimes performs stand-up at their shows. According to Flanagan, guitarist Jon Sharron writes most of the music.

The Bronx is an American hardcore punk band from Los Angeles formed in 2002. The band's current lineup consists of vocalist Matt Caughthran, guitarists Joby J. Ford and Ken Horne, bass guitarist Brad Magers, and drummer Jorma Vik. They have released four eponymous rock albums, and three additional albums of mariachi music under the alter ego Mariachi El Bronx.

Broken Bones are a hardcore punk band founded in 1983 and led by Anthony 'Bones' Roberts. They evolved from the band Discharge, and in later moved into crossover. They have released eight albums, two EPs and a number of singles. The band has gone through a number of line-up changes over the years and have toured internationally.

Born from Pain is a Dutch hardcore punk band from the Oostelijke Mijnstreek (as a part of the infamous M.O.C.) which formed in 1997. Since they formed they have achieved fame through energetic shows and grew out to become the international band they are today. They have toured in all of Europe, in the United States and in Japan. They have shared stages with bands such as Hatebreed, Madball, Zero Mentality, Six Feet Under, Soulfly, Agnostic Front and Slayer. In March 2007, longtime frontman Che left the band due to personal reasons. He was temporarily replaced by Carl Schwartz, frontman of First Blood, and Scott Vogel from Terror. The band later found a full-time vocalist in Kevin Otto of German deathcore band 'End of Days'. But Otto struggled with his voice so he was replaced by bass player Rob Fransen. Andries Beckers of The Setup took over on bass. They are widely regarded as one of the premier European hardcore bands.

Born Against was an American hardcore punk band from New York active between 1989–1993. In addition to their radical leftist politics, the group espoused a DIY punk message and challenged what they perceived as being a problem within the punk subculture of their time.

Bold is a late 1980s youth crew hardcore band from Westchester County, New York, which, along with bands like Youth Of Today and Side By Side, were a part of the Youth Crew and an influence in the late 80's straight edge hardcore scene. The band progressed to a more rock-oriented sound in its later years.

Blood for Blood is an American hardcore punk band from Boston, Massachusetts, United States, that formed in 1994 by Erick "Buddha" Medina & Rob Lind, drawing inspiration from the hardcore scene in Boston and New York. In 1997 they were signed to Victory Records. The band describes their sound as influenced by Sheer Terror, Breakdown, Carnivore, and Raw Deal. In 2012, vocalist Erick Medina was kicked out of the band due to sex crime allegations.

The Blood are a London-based punk rock band, formed in 1982. Led by Cardinal Jesus Hate and JJ Bedsore (AKA Colin Smith and Jamie Cantwell), the band formed in the early 1980s under the name "Coming Blood". Their music is a blend of hardcore punk, Oi!, heavy metal, football chants and shock rock.

1980–1988

Black Flag is an American punk rock band formed in 1976 in Hermosa Beach, California. The band was established by Greg Ginn, the guitarist, primary songwriter, and sole continuous member through multiple personnel changes in the band. They are widely considered to be one of the first hardcore punk bands. After breaking up in 1986, Black Flag briefly reunited in 2003 and again in 2013.

Biohazard is an American heavy metal band formed in Brooklyn, New York in 1987. They are acknowledged as one of the earliest bands to fuse hardcore punk and heavy metal with elements of hip hop. The earliest lineup consisted of bassist/vocalist Evan Seinfeld, guitarist Bobby Hambel, and drummer Anthony Meo. Guitarist/vocalist Billy Graziadei would join the band soon after, changing the band to a four-piece. Since January 2012, the lineup has consisted of Billy Graziadei, Bobby Hambel, Danny Schuler, and Scott Roberts.

Being as an Ocean is an American melodic hardcore band from Alpine, California, formed in 2011. They are currently signed to InVogue Records. They have released three full-length albums: Dear G-d..., How We Both Wondrously Perish and a self-titled album released on June 29, 2015. How We Both Wondrously Perish was released in May 2014 and charted at number 57 on the Billboard 200 in the U.S.

The Beastie Boys were an American hip hop/rock band from New York City, formed in 1981. For the majority of its career, the group consisted of Michael "Mike D" Diamond (vocals, drums), Adam "MCA" Yauch (vocals, bass) and Adam "Ad-Rock" Horovitz (vocals, guitar).

Beartooth are an American metalcore band from Columbus, Ohio. They are signed to Red Bull Records and managed by The Artery Foundation since 2013 along with frontman Caleb Shomo's electronic act, Class. Their debut EP Sick was released on July 26, 2013, followed by their debut full-length album Disgusting on June 10, 2014.

Bayonet is an American hardcore punk band that formed in 2009. The group features Jeremy Comitas formerly of The Banner, Paul Klein of Suburban Scum, Buddy Nielsen of Senses Fail, and Will Putney of Fit for an Autopsy. Putney is also an established record producer who has engineered albums for Bloodsimple, Suicide Silence and The Human Abstract among others.

Battalion of Saints is a hardcore punk rock band from San Diego, California that was founded in 1980. The band went through numerous lineup changes before breaking up in 1985. Singer George Anthony reformed the band in 1995 with Terry "Tezz" Roberts (veteran of British punk bands Discharge, Broken Bones, and U.K. Subs), and signed to Taang! Records, which reissued most of their material on the Death-R-Us CD.

Bane is an American hardcore punk band that began as a side project between Aaron Dalbec (then of Converge) and Damon Bellardo. Dalbec approached Matt Firestone to sing and they played under the moniker of Gateway for a few shows, before Firestone parted ways to focus on other projects. Dalbec then approached Aaron Bedard (who had previously sung for the Worcester, Massachusetts hardcore band Backbone) about singing for Bane. They went into the studio in December 1995 with a few friends and released a five-song demo. The next year saw the release of their first EP, and many shows throughout central Massachusetts. In early 1997, Bane released Free to Think, Free to Be EP, and in 1998 the band released the Holding This Moment 7" and CD collection, and embarked upon their first US tour. Like many other hardcore bands, Bane are known for their promotion of tolerance and unity within the scene.

Bad Religion is an American punk rock band that formed in Los Angeles, California in 1980. The band makes extensive use of soaring 3-part vocal harmonies (which they refer to in their album liner notes as the "oozin' aahs"), guitar solos and lyrics that often contain religious and political commentary. Their lyrics often relate to matters of social responsibility. The band's lineup has changed several times over its lifespan, with lead vocalist Greg Graffin being the only consistent member; the current lineup, however, features three of the band's four original members (Graffin, Brett Gurewitz and Jay Bentley). To date, Bad Religion has released sixteen studio albums, two live albums, three compilation albums, three EPs (one of which is composed of covers of Christmas songs) and two DVDs (which were both recorded live). They are considered to be one of the best-selling punk rock acts of all time, having sold over 5 million albums worldwide.

They are widely regarded as among the pioneers of hardcore punk, though the band's members have objected to this term to describe their music. They are also an adept reggae band, while later recordings featured elements of other genres like funk, heavy metal, hip hop and soul. Bad Brains are followers of the Rastafari movement.

Aus-Rotten was an American anarcho-punk band active from 1991 to 2001 formed in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Part of the DIY underground, its members practiced and promoted a philosophy of anarchism and far-left sociopolitics. The band included lead vocalist Dave Trenga, vocalist/guitarist Eric Good, bassist Corey Lyons, and drummer Matt Garabedian. Spitboy singer Adrienne Droogas would often join the band in their later material. The band's name comes from the German word ausrotten, which translates to "extermination" or "eradication".

Attitude Adjustment is an American crossover thrash band, originally formed 1985 in the San Francisco Bay Area, California, United States.

Armia (English: Army) is Polish punk rock and hardcore punk music band founded in 1985 by Tomasz Budzyński, Sławomir Gołaszewski and Robert Brylewski. Armia is famous for its use of horn, which was unusual of punk rock bands in late 1980s and 1990s. With poetic (often inspired by philosophy and literature) lyrics, written by Budzyński, and evolving, creative music Armia has gained popularity and respect over the years, and its concerts now attract numerous fans of rock music.

Antisect are a rock band based in London, UK. Their roots are in hardcore/anarcho punk and metal.

Anti-Flag are an American punk rock band from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, United States. The band is well known for political activism, focusing on anti-war activism, anti-imperialism, class struggle, human rights, and various sociopolitical sentiments. The line-up includes singer/guitarist Justin Sane and drummer Pat Thetic, who founded the band; later members are guitarist Chris Head, and singer/bassist Chris Barker (#2) who replaced Jamie "Cock" Towns, who had replaced original bassist Andy Flag in 1997 following his departure one year prior. Anti-Flag is known also for their advocacy of progressive political action groups such as Greenpeace and Amnesty International. Most recently, the band has declared solidarity with the global Occupy Together movement.

Anti Cimex were a Swedish hardcore punk band, based in Skövde, Göteborg, Linköping, and Malmö, at different times, that formed in 1981. They were one of the first bands to define Scandinavian hardcore punk. Their second 7", Raped Ass, is considered to be a subgenre-defining D-beat record. Scene historian Peter Jandreus describes the group as the most famous Swedish punk band of the 1977–87 era.

Angst was an American band from San Francisco, California. In mid-1978, brothers Joseph Pope and Jon E. Risk formed their first punk rock group, the Instants, in Boulder, Colorado. The band gigged in the Denver/Boulder area before moving to England in late 1979 where they lasted only a few months. In 1980 Joseph and Jon then settled in San Francisco and formed Angst along with drummer Michael Hursey (later replaced by Andy Kaps).

The Angry Samoans are an American punk rock band from the first wave of American punk, formed in August 1978 in Los Angeles, California by early 1970s rock writer "Metal" Mike Saunders, his sibling lead guitarist Bonze Blayk and Gregg Turner (another rock writer, for Creem from the late 1970s through the mid-1980s), along with original recruits Todd Homer (bass) and Bill Vockeroth (drums).

American Standards is an American hardcore punk band from Phoenix, Arizona, formed in 2011. The band consists of members Brandon Kellum (vocals), Corey Skowronski (lead guitar), Steven Mandell (bass), and Tommy Mills (drums). Their musical style is rooted in technical hardcore with strong elements of punk and metal. They've garnered much critical and fan acclaim for their high energy, intense live shows and raw sound. They're also known for Kellum's socio politically charged lyrics which have included topics such corporate satire, materialism, personal struggle and urban alienation. To date, the group has released four albums, five music videos and multiple demos.

Give Up the Ghost (originally named American Nightmare) is a hardcore punk band from Boston, Massachusetts.

American Me was a hardcore punk band from Portland, Oregon whose music also featured elements of various genres of heavy metal and hip hop. The band was formed in 2006 and signed with Rise Records in late 2007. The band's music is often described as 'brutal hardcore' and is known for its fast pace and heavy sound.

AFI (A Fire Inside) is an American rock band from Ukiah, California, formed in 1991. They have had the same lineup since 1998: lead vocalist Davey Havok, drummer and backup vocalist Adam Carson, with bassist Hunter Burgan and guitarist Jade Puget, who both play keyboard and contribute backup vocals. Of the current lineup, Havok and Carson are the two remaining original members.

Agnostic Front is an American crossover thrash band, formed in 1980. The band began playing hardcore punk similar to their contemporaries, and were thrust to the forefront of the burgeoning New York hardcore scene in the mid-1980s with their widely regarded 1984 classic Victim in Pain before incorporating thrash metal elements into their music.

Agent Orange are an American punk rock band formed in Orange County, California in 1979. The band were one of the first to mix punk rock with surf music.

The Adolescents are an American punk rock band formed in 1980 in Fullerton, California. From its earliest days, the band has functioned as a kind of SoCal punk supergroup, being formed originally from early members of Agent Orange and Social Distortion.

The Accüsed is a crossover thrash band from Seattle, Washington, founded in 1981. The band was a progenitor of the crossover style that bridged the gap between thrashcore and thrash metal, later influencing grindcore and some crust punk bands; as well as an influential band in the Seattle alternative scene. The band calls their music "splattercore", and their zombie mascot, Martha Splatterhead, appears on most of their albums. Common themes involve social issues and the theme of Martha Splatterhead coming back from the dead to slaughter rapists and child molesters. The Accüsed took an 11-year hiatus in 1992, with members taking time to play in Seattle bands such as The Fartz and Gruntruck. The band re-formed in 2003, and continues to be active.

ACxDC (also known as Antichrist Demoncore) is an American hardcore punk band that formed in Los Angeles, California in 2003. The band has gone through multiple line-up changes and its current line-up consists of vocalist Sergio Amalfitano, guitarists Brian Amalfitano and Aldo Felix, bassist Jeff Aldape and Jorge Luis Herrera. The band's musical style has been mainly labeled as powerviolence, as well as grindcore and hardcore punk with influences from d-beat, crust punk and death metal. The band's aesthetic has been described as "a strange blend of veganism, straight-edge and Satanism."

AC4 is a hardcore band from Umeå, Sweden. Refused members Dennis Lyxzén and David Sandström had been talking about starting a new band for a long time. In the spring of 2008 Karl Backman had written songs for the new band and they started to rehearse. Jens Nordén had played with Lyxzén in pre-Refused straight edge hardcore band Step Forward (1987-1991) and since 1990 with Backman in punk band The Vectors. The "AC" in the name is the regional code for the Västerbotten province where Umeå is located.

ANS is an American crossover thrash band formed in 1999 out of Irving, Texas. Lead vocalist Chris Wall states that the acronym originated from the "radical-ANS" in Vans. Acronyms for the band name changed over the years, and with each record release liner notes, including: Annihilate New School, Anti-New School, Armageddon Nuclear System, Aghast! Natas Symposium. While quintessentially a "Texas band" adamant of their roots in Texas DIY (Do It Yourself) hardcore, present members are spread across the U.S.A. in New Jersey, Texas, California, and Hawaii.

7 Seconds is an American hardcore punk band from Reno, Nevada. Formed on January 17, 1980 by two sets of brothers; the Marvelli brothers, who used the punk rock names "Kevin Seconds" and "Steve Youth," and the Borghino brothers, who took the names "Tom Munist" and "Dim Menace." The band has gone through numerous lineup changes over the subsequent years, with only Kevin Seconds and Steve Youth remaining constant members.
