The University of Cincinnati Academic Health Center is a healthcare in Cincinnati, Ohio, and a major source of education, medical care, and research in Greater Cincinnati training health care professionals and providing research and patient care. The Academic Health Center (AHC) consists of multiple University of Cincinnati colleges that are listed below, Hoxworth Blood Center, UC Barrett Cancer Institute, and the programs and institutes at the Reading Campus.

The Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine is the medical school of Ohio University and the only osteopathic college in the U.S. state of Ohio. Its mission is to emphasize the practice of primary care and train physicians to serve Ohio, especially in the underserved Appalachian and urban areas of the state.Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine offers a single program conferring the degree Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (D.O.), and several combined degree programs. Graduates are eligible to practice medicine in all 50 states and more than 50 countries.

The Ohio State University College of Medicine (formerly known as The Ohio State University College of Medicine and Public Health) is the medical school at The Ohio State University and is located in Columbus, Ohio. The college is nationally recognized as a top institution in both education and research, as reflected by rankings in U.S. News & World Report. In 2009, its primary teaching hospital (Ohio State University Hospital) was ranked as one of the best hospitals in the U.S. in 10 different specialties; it was chosen to be among the 21 hospitals named to U.S. News & World Report's select honor roll of U.S. hospitals.

The Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine was established in 2002 with a $100 million gift from Norma and Al Lerner and through a collaboration between Cleveland Clinic and Case Western Reserve University. The first class of students was enrolled in 2004.The Lerner College offers a five-year program with the goal of training physician-scientists. The third or fourth year is spent doing full-time research, and a thesis is required for graduation.

Boonshoft School of Medicine (formerly known as The Wright State University School of Medicine) is the medical school at Wright State University. Wright State University Boonshoft School of Medicine is located in Dayton, Ohio, and serves the Miami Valley region of southwestern Ohio.
