Cross Country Skiing

I want to tell you about a drill we use for diagonal stride. It's a bit strange and I'm not sure how it will come off in a blog post, but it's the best drill we've discovered for helping classic skiers improve their forward body lean.

There are two basic types of cross-country skiing. One is classic-skiing, and the other skate-skiing. Needless to say, skate-skiing resembles skating. Although it is faster than classic-skiing, it requires more physical effort, greater know-how, specialized skate skis, and is generally dependent on the availability of wider trails that are well groomed.

With ski season in full swing, a growing number of winter-sports enthusiasts are forgoing crowded downhill ski resorts in favor of a more serene alternative cross-country skiing.

Nobody disputes the allure of alpine ski resorts, with their high-powered lifts, steep trails and superior curly fries. But not everyone likes fast speeds, big crowds and high-dollar entry fees. For the more exercise-oriented, or athletes who simply want to try something new, cross-country skiing might be the best way to experience a quieter and more enchanting side of winter.
